I'm not going to lie, we only went here because that name is Epic. Now it's our go-to Vietnamese restaurant. My boyfriend always gets the Pho, which he says is the best he's had. I get the Bun Bo Hue, which is always fantastic. It's cheap, quick, and good. Be aware- its a really small divey space, there are only about three people working at any given time, and it's authentic, you're not going to find some half-assed attempt at pad thai here. read more

Okay, I'll admit... I came here primarily for the epic name, but being a fan of Pho, It wasnt in vain. I ordered up the combination pho with rare beef, brisket and Meatball which was delicious and an order of the Bun Bo Hue. The Bun Bo Hue, although I can appreciate the compexity of the dish just wasn't my cup of tea. Too much going on. The Pho however was excellent and priced very well. The little old lady behind the counter was kind and even served me water while I waited for my to go order. This is an excellent Vietnamese restaurant. It helps to have someone who knows Vietnamese to come with you but not necessary. I personally love the pho with everything in it which comes with tendon but they slow boil it for a long time so it just melts when you eat it. The waitstaff changes often. No waitstaff who depends on tips for income would to work in such a small place that has such low prices (compared to other restaurants). Without a doubt, best bun bo hue by far. I've tried this dish in different restaurants in different states, but time and time I prefer this place than any other! The broth is greatly seasoned and given generous amounts of meat and veggies. Was yelping while driving down 49 th St N looking for dinner to pick up - considered Greek, but wanted something lighter. Yelp gave many Vietnamese suggestions (in English luckily) so I stopped at the 4.5 star review with the not misspelled name. Ironically, the menu was "Greek" to me, but i came in for and found the bun bo hue soup, based on fellow yelper's recommendations. Wanted something else to eat with it, but sandwiches were listed only under appetizers (everything else was soup or beverage it seemed). I pointed to one, and the nice lady told me "no more," that they ran out. I pointed to another, and eventually found out no sandwiches were available. I did order spring rolls for my wife (I can't stand their amphibious texture). Reheated soup at home, and generous items were packed really well. Intense orange broth in a plastic container, round rice noodles and some herbs in styrofoam, and additional herbs (basil, mint), bean sprouts, lime wedges, etc. in a sealed baggie. Separate mini container with what I thought was hot spice but awkward smell indicated fish or anchovy type pieces. I never liked pho much (guess I'm not a phony?;), but this soup is so much better and was DELICIOUS! This soup was incredibly fresh with a spicy tendency, What I thought was tofu chameleoning the soup's inhabitants I found out was cooked blood, but it was in the party and probably best I really didn't know all the invited guests . I was going to save the second soup bowl serving for next day lunch, but I really craved more, and it even made the wife's chick flic I agreed to watch more palatable (a magic soup :). I would never try to say the name of this restaurant out loud, because I'm incredibly well bred. The only customers in here, the only language spoken the night I was here was Vietnamese. This enabled me to overlook the dingy, cramped, unattractive decor. Better selection of Vietnamese noodle soups than I've experienced, so I got a seafood egg noodle soup I've never had before. At first they were a little stingy with the dangerous peppers until I insisted. The name alone earns full one star baby! The place is on the busy Park Blvd (on movie theater side) and and small, only 7 tables, so we must be lucky to hit Sat 5 pm before 007 Spectra show. The place was deserted so we got lots of attention and good service. I love what I tried, and I'd love to come back for other items on the menu. I ordered Banh Canh Cha Ca which is a bowl of noodle soup, with thick round noodle and chicken broth, topped with Vietnam herbs and fresh ingredients. After snapping the store name to some bros, what I entered into was an authentic hole-in-the-wall vietnamese restauarant. The service was as you would expect: friendly at a comfortable pace. We ordered the duck noodle and bun bo hue. Duck noodle was absolutely delicious as was the bun. A quiet "hole in the wall" but only by definition the food easily rivals any five star restaurant. A great place to bring family and friends all of whom will enjoy the entire menu until your favorite is found in my experience the staff is courteous, ready explain the menu or even just chat for a minute. Some of the items on the menu that my wife and I were interested in weren't available. Not sure if they are weekday-only items or what. Even so, there were plenty of other items to choose from. The food and prices both seemed good. The pork, egg, and rice was really good (I think it was number 20 on the menu) The only thing I wasn't a fan of was there atmosphere. They could use some help redoing the interior. It felt a bit like "Hoarders: Restaurant Edition". Especially given how small the building already is, having additional boxes of styrofoam cups, dried noodles, etc. piled on top of some tables and on the shelves made the place feel even smaller. All in all, though, I felt like it's a solid choice for local Vietnamese. It's more divey than Seasons Bakery, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It feels better suited for 'meals' rather than 'snacks', so I think I'd be willing to get larger portions and stay longer here than at Seasons Bakery. read more

Saw the good reviews so I decided to come in for a bowl of Pho. It's a small joint with 6 or so tables, mom n pop feel. My Pho was good like many in the area. However the flies in there was annoying, so was the one strand of hair I found in my bowl:( hence the 3 stars. read more

I went here because of the name. Saw it on social media as a meme a long time ago. Decided to give it a try. The pho was good! The com bo luk luk was okay. I'm used to having juicy beef I can pour on the rice, but here was kind of dry. They also did have outdoor seating which was nice because I take my dog everywhere, but I kept getting interrupted by flies. We were looking for a quick bite to eat (specifically a pho place) so we stopped here. It was interesting... it was like being in someone's house I guess that is the best I could describe it. I am Vietnamese and have lived saint Pete for 30 years. This is the best place to go for bun bo hue in the city. You could get other entrees elsewhere that are better like pho. But this is where my friends and I go for bun bo hue. We take all of our friends here and they have all raved. The broth is just perfect, ample amounts of meat and toppings. For the longest time, I just laughed at the name. Then I started hearing about how good their spicy beef noodle soup is. First thought, this could be a scary place. It's very traditional Vietnamese rest! I watched this 70 ish old lady run the restaurant and I'm amazed at her passion. It's no mom and pop restaurant, its grandma's kitchen, even better! horrible service! i went here about a year ago just based off of the looks of the place i knew it was a mom and pop place, i wasn't expecting too exceptional service but this was just ridiculous. when my sister and i arrived to the restaurant and sat down there was maybe one other person in the restaurant who had already ordered, so of course their food was going to come first. but then a family came, and then a woman came by herself, and then a few men came sitting together. how in the world do does everyone in that restaurant get their food before we do? when we were asking her questions about the menu she got an attitude with us and literally walked away in the middle of us asking a question. we turn around and see the group of men asking the exact same question and she politly answers them and waits till they're done asking before she moves on to the next table. after all of that they had the nerve to literally ask for a tip! listen i'm all for tipping but only with good service i'm not going to tip somebody who doesn't deserve it. sorry not sorry. anyway as far as the food... not bad, not bad at all, and i guess the price was decent as well read more
