It was worth the drive. We drove for about 30-40 minutes to get there for dinner on a Friday night. We thought we'd try something new with good reviews. We were seated right away and there was a good amount of parking in the lot. Once you get inside there's a live pianist who also plays the guitar. The waitress was very nice and attentive. They kept the bread slices and butter coming which was great because it was warm and soft with softened butter. I got the North African couscous which wasn't what I thought. It came in a spicy tomato sauce with small pieces of chicken, sausage and a small kebab which I didn't see the stick so I kept trying to cut through it. It was hard to remove from the stick even after seeing it. I also got to taste the salmon which tasted great but wasn't as juicy as I thought it'd be. It's a small portion. Since we had plenty of room for dessert we got the chocolate decadence and were super excited to try it. It took awhile and when we got it, it was quite petite. It was very rich which was great. We went after 6 and the crowd is older. I actually like that though because even though there was conversations being had we could also hear each other comfortably. One of my favorite local restaurants. The interior is bright and informal and it has a nice (although small) outdoor patio dining area. Service is always attentive without being too intrusive. The food selection has a great mediteranian emphasis with a few Cajun, Persian and Indian influences thrown in. I particularly enjoy the Paella, Chicken Piri Piri, Couscous and Pork Chop Au Poivre. Maintaining high levels of customer service during the pandemic can be difficult to find BUT not here! My large party of 8 received genuine service during our dinner and the attentive staff ensured our glasses were full and each person was satisfied with their meal. All staff wore mask and would wear gloves when handling food/ drink service. The restaurant is minding social distance guidelines very well. They sat us in a private nook / section which made us all feel so comfortable not to worry about people constantly walking by. The dishes are just as good as the service! The calamari is served with hot pickeld peppers that are addictive. Luckily the sauce helps cool your tongue down. This restaurant has a very good lobster bisque. Other dishes that were devoured included the Luigi pasta and red fish. And who could forget dessert! The bananas foster is all you need but there are great choices for chocolate lovers. We celebrated a birthday and it was so nice to have the staff sing in harmony to our 9 yr old. (Everyone still wearing a mask). Cafe Benedicte is a very special place. Lobster Bisque is one of the best I've had. Steak Diane is one of those classic dishes, and Benedicte serves the best version I have had in my life. The dishes are very good for the price you pay, one of the best values for an established restaurant in the energy corridor you will find. Sometimes there is a piano player. Most importantly, the owner/manager - Vahid - is the best boss I ever had in my life. Late start Sundays and not wanting to cook, but craving Eggs Benedict led us here. We came a little after opening. While the interior was lovely and classy, the food left much to be desired. The waffle I ordered was very dry and not crispy or golden at all. Was this floppy mess just heated up in the microwave? How disappointing. It was probably the worst waffle I have ever had. I had to drown it in syrup to make it edible. The butter that was served with it was cold and hard. Boo. The side of fruit I ordered was not particularly good either. I made a reservation here for 11:45 brunch, looks like they were not packed at all. The restaurant is very clean and classy, I really liked the Christmas tree and the piano and the background for the windows. It gave it a really nice warm atmosphere. I got sat immediately and our server did not seem very educated with the menu. He constantly had to check for the answers to our questions. these were just basic questions like is there a smaller version or an ala carte version of the French toast. Or is the crepe with two different kinds or do we get to choose. When we got a coffee refill, the other server didn't grab the cup, instead he refilled the cup on the table and spilled on to the table, almost hitting my boyfriend's hand. They served a plate of sliced bread with butter, citrus jam, strawberry jam and it was warm. I love the jam. I can definitely tell that these are homemade. The butter was extremely soft and this was great because I was starving at this moment. I ordered the following: Meat lovers skillet with grits Hawaiian French toast with hash browns Crepe duet The prices are pretty reasonable. I asked if the skillet had chopped potatoes or were they hash browns, and the service said it was chopped potatoes. This was incorrect. This dish was basically hash browns with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, sausage, ham, bacon topped with 2 eggs. I was a little disappointed about the potatoes, but the flavors were surprising. I had a very nice smokey taste throughout the old dish and nice bites with vegetables and meat. The eggs were cook nicely, not overdone, and it all came out pretty quickly. This is a very hearty meal, you can get full off of this so maybe share it if you have someone who doesn't have a big appetite. We got this with grits and They were disgusting. There was no salt, basically tasted like rice porridge. 4/5 The Hawaiian French toast with hash browns I wish they added a protein to this meal. I ended up eating the skillet because it lacked that. Honestly, I definitely recommend this dish entirely. you really didn't even need syrup because it was already very sweet. The bread was extremely soft but perfectly panned fried. I liked how they put the butter on the side too. It was just really delicious. keep in mind that the hash browns are not crispy at all. You're basically getting the look of hash browns steamed. It lacked salt but thankfully they had that at the table. 5/5 The crepe duet had a nice flavor to them. The one with ham was probably my favorite because the Hollandaise sauce was in need of citrus. I think I would ask for the Hollandaise sauce on the side next time because the crepe in general with the chicken, mushrooms, spinach were perfect. The fruit or fresh and delicious. 4/5 Overall, this is a really nice place. I am wishing that next time I come back that they have a pianist. HRW office edition The restaurant anchors a strip center in the energy corridor area. I used the valet because I was in a hurry, but I think there may have been a couple spots left in the lot to self park. I went directly to the door behind the valet, but it was the service entrance (I think they use it to load their catering van). The actual door is to the left of that, perpendicular to the parking lot. Upon entering, more confusion. There is no real host stand, just a general counter area where there may or may not be someone standing. The pianist was the one who actually pointed me over there. I noticed this happening throughout the night as people continued to walk in aimlessly and wander around. There is also yet another door (that is used to get to their patio) that people used to get in the restaurant - even more awkward since it was next to the table I was seated at. I was seated promptly (by a waiter/busboy who came by the host counter) and was greeted by a number of people. I actually wasn't sure who our waiter was for some time, since at least 4 people greeted us, brought water, etc. They were all very welcoming and friendly. Décor leaned toward the Mediterranean feeling, with some turquoise walls and faux painted ceiling. I heard - since I didn't go in - that the bathroom fixtures (paper towel and tp dispensers) were hung awkwardly low on the wall, and had been moved, leaving unfinished drywall patches. Maybe they're renovating? Fresh Prince Edward Mussels (GF) in garlic butter & white wine: nicely cooked, broth was delicious. Good thing there was extra bread for sopping it up! Tempura Salmon Cake with lemon cream sauce, baby spinach & sun-dried tomatoes: surprisingly tasty with a crisp exterior and moist fish Truffle Fries (V) (GF) with truffle aioli and parmesan: decent fries, hardly any truffle flavor in the aioli Caesar Salad (V) (GF): standard Chunky Gazpacho and Avocado: very chunky, almost like salsa. In fact, it might have been better as a salsa. Seafood Platter (GF) seared chilean sea bass, sea scallops, and jumbo shrimp with saffron cream sauce: well cooked seafood, nice potatoes on the side. Also had broccoli and carrots, which were fine, but they used the pre-cut baby carrots which is weird to me. Makes it less restaurant-y I suppose. Why can't you just cut down regular carrots? Chicken Scaloppini marsala and piccata combination with capellini in garlic-herb butter: very nice sauces - especially the marsala, tender chicken, good texture on pasta Steak Diane (GF) filet mignon medallions in red wine demi-glaze with texas onions and crimini mushrooms: classic dish, done well Crème Brulée (GF): standard Chocolate Decadence a flourless fudge lava cake: super rich and fudgy Bananas Foster Crêpe the classic served in crêpe and á la mode: I didn't try this but it seemed to go over well, and was noted to be very sweet Overall the food is quite tasty and prepared well. For HRW it was also a good value with good portion sizes. It's a little out of the way for me, but I certainly wouldn't mind dining there again. Came here for a date on a Friday evening. We had reservations for 7:30 and my date was seated promptly. Parking is pretty easy as the cafe is located in a strip of other businesses and they were closed. Ambiance is business casual and there was a live piano player. The crowd was mostly older, and not very diverse but I still felt pretty comfortable. Service was amazing and my food was amazing as well. I had the grilled salmon. Would definitely be back. read more
