It's always an excellent experience here and we've been coming here since they were in Sherman Oaks. The service is great, the food is great, but I have recently found it frustrating how long the wait is for a table, even with a reservation. It seems like they overbook. To have a 7:15 reservation and not be seated until well after 8 PM is unacceptable. I hope management sees this and takes action. read more

Probably my favorite restaurant of all time, we drive for close to an hour just to come here! The food is absolutely incredible, (trust me, try the escargot) the prices are super reasonable (5 bucks for a Cesar salad?!) and the service is top notch (Matthew is very attentive)! Actually love this place. They have an extensive wine menu and a cheap corkage maybe like 2 bucks, they have everything on the menu from steak frites, halibut, ahi tuna I mean the list goes on. I have been dining at Cafe Bizou since it was a small storefront on Ventura Blvd. My family has enjoyed their food and service at that expanded location, Santa Monica, Pasadena and now, Agoura Hills. The food has changed over the years, but the service and $2 corkage fee have remained the same. Last night, our family (party of 6) celebrated my granddaughter's Bday and we ordered appetizers, sides and full meals. Everyone, except me, enjoyed their meals, which included: escargot, bruschetta, lobster bisque, fig and berry salad, ceasar salad, macadamia nut crusted halibut, short ribs special, steak au Poivre, blackened salmon and beef bourguignon: The meals came with mashed potatoes and a few veggies. The soups and salads were also included with the meals. My nut "crusted" halibut was not actually crusted. It was halibut, steamed, with a few chopped nuts and herbs on top. I did not enjoy, or finish, my fish. I did enjoy, as we all did, the soup, salad, mashed potatoes, green beans and asparagus. I informed the waiter of our granddaughter's Bday so they brought the complimentary warm flourless cake with raspberry coulée, a lit candle and a song. Delicious. Just as an FYI, if you have reservations during rush hours, expect to wait 30-45 minutes. If you don't have reservations, good luck. This has always been the case, so we have learned to expect it. The noise level was horrible, we couldn't even hear each other talk. And, excuse the poor quality photos, it was really dark in the restaurant. Fantastic evening last night celebrating a dear friend's birthday! The four of us had a wonderful time at this gem. Everything about the experience was excellent. Two of us ordered the steak au poivre, which came with perfectly prepared fresh green beans, vibrant broccoli, and what has to be the best mashed potatoes I've ever had -- rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Our server was the ultimate professional. He had deep knowledge of the French cuisine and was genuinely enthusiastic about helping us choose. The entire wait staff was attentive, keeping our water glasses filled and checking on us without ever being intrusive. The $2 corkage fee is an absolute steal. Had an excellent meal with the family over the weekend. The lively environment accentuated with velvet drapes and red lights felt like we were transported to the Moulin Rouge. Judging from the menu, it's not quite the most authentic French cuisine we've ever had but the food was good nonetheless. Enjoyed the escargot and lobster bisque, which had lobster strands throughout. The onion soup could be richer and use a little more flavor. Beef bourgignon was a little tough and the stew was a bit light. Tried the popular beef stroganoff, which obviously isn't French. I thought it could have been creamier for my taste. Our favorite dish was the shrimp and lobster risotto which also isn't French. It was luxurious and creamy balanced with deep lobster flavor. Overall the food quality was very satisfying. Also really enjoyed the French martini, which was refreshing and light but more interesting than an ordinary vodka martini. Last but not least is that everything was reasonably priced. Great experience on Valentine's Day! We had a 6pm reservation and we got in around 6:20 because it was crazy busy. They have a set menu I think all the time which is great, and it was $45 per person for Valentine's Day. According to their website it's usually $40 per person on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and on Wednesdays and Thursdays it's $35. The set menu includes a three-course meal. They give fresh bread and butter once you get to your table and the bread is sooo good. For the appetizer I got the fig berry salad and my husband got the French onion soup. Both were fantastic. The salad was probably one of the best salads I've had. For the main course, I got the beef bourguignon, which comes with mashed potatoes, and my husband got the lobster and shrimp risotto. My meal was amazing and my husband kept saying how good his was. For dessert the bread pudding is really good! What stood out the most was the amazing service. The wait staff are mostly French, it felt like we were in France, and they are so nice. The food came out in perfect timing and altogether we were in and out within 45 minutes. 4th and last DineLA spring excursion Drove up to my home turf to visit friends for the weekend. My friend has been raving about this place and this whole time I had no clue about it. Our party of 5 did the DineLA dinner. This time around it was every man for himself so we all got what we wanted and didn't share. We started off with an order of the escargot because as it turns out 2/5 of the people in our party had never tried it before. It was perfectly seasoned. I kicked off with the lobster and salmon ravioli then followed that up with the meat trio which came with lamb chop, filet mignon and braised short ribs and ended with the bread pudding. They have Dimmed romantic lights with inside & outside patio seating with heaters. Food wise - it is always on point. Their complimentary bread is always freshly baked in house served warm for the table. My usual favorites - Escargot, truffle fries, short ribs, French onion soup, chic e penne pasta, Tiramisu, and everything we ordered were really good. Such a nice, and romantic restaurant to dine. We made reservations for the Sunday after Valentine's and were seated immediately at a table towards the back of the restaurant. Service is excellent, and I felt well taken care of. I ordered a French onion soup that had a bold broth and nice thick slice of bread, covered with a delicious thick cheese. For the main entree I had the Beef Wellington. It came with a delicious twice baked potato, and fresh, crisp green beans and carrots. My son had the lobster bisque and for his entree the rack of lamb that was served with au gratin potatoes and the same vegetables. The au gratin potatoes had a strong garlic flavor. 4.5 Stars Several return visits since our first experience and I can truly say that we love Café Bizou. They feature wonderful French cuisine and they're always crazy busy. Even with reservations, expect a slight wait. Along with the fact that the service and food are very good, they have a $2 corkage fee, all day, every day! We always bring in our own bottle of wine, as well as most of their patrons. They typically participate in DineLA, but their regular menu offers the same 3-Course Prix Fix selections, as well as your standard French fare, and "Plats du Jour". A complimentary bread/butter basket is served with each meal. Overall, the atmosphere, service, and food are simply magnifique! Super hard review to make, because we ate here before and had an nice 4.5 star experience and last night, we had a meh experience-which I would probably give a two star review for, but I'm going to upgrade it to three because our last time here was much better. We had 7 PM reservations, arrived at 6:55 and we had to wait until 7:35 to be seated. My husband ordered the strawberry margarita and he thought it was delicious. When we sat down, the table was not ready/set up for us yet. No napkins or utensils, just the menus (which look like they had not been cleaned). Bread and butter were brought to our table, but the waiter was too busy to take our order. The bread was delicious and we were so hungry we both had two pieces before he got back to finally take our order. We were going to order off of the Set dinner menu that included soups/salad and a dessert for $40 however, after eating the bread and it being so late, we opted to just order the entrée. It was not a great sign when less than five minutes after we placed our order, our meal was served to us, we knew that it was all premade, and likely under lights to keep warm until ordered. Jumbo shrimp and scallops over angel hair. $29 -This was actually super disappointing. Very little flavor as well as the shrimp were rubbery and the scallops were chewy. The pasta was drenched in olive oil. Beef Bourguignon $26 My husband said it was OK- not great, but not bad. Prices are reasonable, parking was easy but bottom line very disappointing evening. Reading through the reviews, it looks like this is the theme for this restaurant, as well as not a single reply from the management or owner of the restaurant to any of the disappointing reviews, so clearly they don't care at all. Yesterday was my son's 29th birthday and he wanted to go to his favorite restaurant which is Cafe Bizou. We had a 7:30pm reservation and got there at 7:10pm. Phillip, the owner of all Cafe Bizou restaurants (past & present) welcomed us with a nice smile and a friendly approach and took us to our table in less than 5 minutes. Jaime, our waiter came right away to take our order. I wish I could give him10 stars just for his service!! It was THAT GREAT! He stole the show in every way, in every aspect and made not only my son's birthday special, but gave us an unforgettable, great, lovely, friendly, professional, kind, fast, yet thorough dining experience. One of their BEST servers that we have known through out the years that we have been going to Cafe Bizou. He was also very helpful, keen, sharp, and pleasant!! I can't say enough good, kind words about this person. Not only as a server, but a true human being. Very hard to find in this day and age! And he had a nice, welcoming smile. A few times we've been to this spot has been quite busy, but the wait wasn't too long without reservations. My kids really liked the food here, as they're mostly savory dishes with special gravy / sauces. As for my steak..the steak I cook at home is more tender...still good though. Same "affordable" French food - I had NY steak Au poivre grilled to perfection- accompanied by grilled tomato- asparagus and crispy Frites. Shout out to the experienced staff especially our server Matthew who really got it right - frequently checking back and of course Philippe, the owner, who makes sure everything runs smoothly. The wait was around 10 minutes despite the reservation, but the person handling the seating graciously gave us a free appetizer as apology for the wait. Food was amazing as usual, they literally never disappoints. I ordered a classic manhattan and while it does taste great, it also has some ice shards. Wow! I had a great experience last night at Cafe Bizou. I went with a party of 4 for a reservation at 6:45. I was seated at 7:15 which usually I would be annoyed with but this place was PACKED. Tons of people waiting. The service was amazing some of the best I've had. We were seen and checked on frequently and water was always filled. The food was incredible and so reasonably priced. One random note was the water was some of the most crisp and refreshing water I ever had, we all said this I know it's random but it was so good hahah. The drinks were really strong too!! read more

The short rib dinner was awful. The plate was extremely hot the food was not. The beef was a wet pile of shredded mush with the carrots and string beans being cold and flavorless. The second try was even more disappointing. The rack of lamb was also served on an extremely hot plate, however the shaven off lamb from the bone was cold with chucks of colgealed fat. I am old enough to cut my own food. For my birthday dinner it was a total embarrassment to have not eaten with my friends. The waiter was not the issue. I do think the servers wait staff rush the table service to turn over for the next group. Not ideal in my book.
