We stumbled upon Cafe Centro after our chosen restaurant was closed. We really enjoyed it and I am somewhat of a food snob. The food is very fresh tasting. I was surprised to be served minestrone in a green broth base but it was delicious. Nice chunks of vegetables. The red lentil soup was delicious also. The entree was mahi mahi; again, delicious. Delicate flavors but memorable. The addition of roasted potatoes was odd with this dish. On the suggestion of our server, Josephine, we shared the pistachio tortufo (sp?) for dessert. My daughter's in-laws hosted my daughter's and their son wedding rehearsal dinner here back in Dec 2015 and it was top notch service and great food. After dinner we went over to the other side of the restaurant and had a blast dancing. Just recently my husband and I decided to go back and dine during the live music and dancing hours. Their food, staff and entertainers are amazing. We had the mussels for appetizer, Cesar salad, linguini pescatore and chicken Marsala. We have had a great time, every time we have been there and the customers (which are regulars) are incredibly friendly. Went in for lunch, ordered 2 sandwiches for lunch. After waiting for about 40 minutes we decided to ask to just pay for our drinks and leave. As soon as we made this request the food suddenly was done and it was cold. Our waiter went outside to his car, was talking to another employee, everything but checking on our table/food. I had been coming Sundays for dinner and jazz entertainment for several years, even though management was never friendly. I was out of town for three months, and on a return with a buddy, we decided to move to a table closer to the music. The proprietor came and threw his hands up in the air, complaining that we should have waited till it was cleared. Several tables were uncleared, and he had stood doing nothing. A couple of weeks later, we arrived, and the co-proprietor asked if we had a reservation, even though numerous tables sat empty; I had never needed a reservation. On Saturday, Jan. 14, I took a date for dinner and a jazz performance, and should have made a reservation. The music had been transferred to another room, where reservations were full. We went to the other room and sat at the bar, deciding to wait till a table in the jazz room was available. But we didn't know if that would happen, so ordered drinks and a pizza, intending to expand our meal if a table opened. The male proprietor came and said a table was available. I said, "Great. We ordered a pizza," assuming it would be sent to our table in the other room. He said, "Oh, it's not possible then," and left. The 9-inch, $17 pizza arrived, and we rejected it. We finished our drinks and left. At the door, my date told the proprietor, "We won't be back." Outside, she told me his response: "Fine" or "Okay." I quickly returned and reminded the guy of the atrocious treatment that I, a longtime Sunday night customer, had been accorded in recent months. It didn't faze him. It is a shame that this is the only place in the West Palm Beach area that holds regular weekend jazz entertainment, because it is badly run, and cares not a whit about its customers. It also is fairly expensive, and I've never had delectable food, the meat often being tough, though the pizza was decent but expensive, although not so for nights of free entertainment. I'd give this 4.5. Went here last night with my folks and great family friends. Everyone loved their meals. I shared a beet salad with goat cheese and had the swordfish (special) as an entree. Cafe Centro is another of many italo-american restaurants in West Palm Beach. No, it's not Italian, it's "Jersey-Italian". Now that we got that clear, it's a honest place. Food is decent to good, prices are reasonable for PBC. When here I prefer to get an appetizer or a salad, I think they are good values (plus I am not a fan of marsala-francese-piccata-alfredo and all that stuff that many down here think is Italian. I don't mind stopping here when in the area but I don't drive to it on purpose. Great to see how the Northwood neighborhood is getting revitalized with all the businesses that opened up in the last 5 years. read more

I ordered a pizza that came out completely different than described and when I asked for them to change it they brought back the same pizza with a drop of tomato sauce, the carbonara used to be out of this world and now is just an Alfredo with pork belly and peas added with wayyyy too much garlic. My friend and I came here on a Friday night at 5:30. Apparently all of the waiters were in a meeting before the dinner crowd, so we had absolutely NO service. We has to ask a guy hanging out by the kitchen if someone would come by and take our order. I know that 5:30 is early, but it's not that early. The food was WAY overpriced. One pasta dish and it ended up costing me $20. Honestly that was way to much. My friend had two salads neither of which was spectacular. My pasta was delicious, however, but without a fancy meat I don't understand why it would cost that much. It wasn't a massive portion. What a delightful experience! We have passed by Cafe Centro numerous times but never stopped. The prices are very reasonable. In fact, at lunch they are cheap. But the food is excellent. I had tuna, medium rare over salad and my wife had salmon salad. Both were prepared to perfection! Others had the lasagna and chicken parmigiana and were very pleased. Outstanding We sat in the bar for dinner. Ended up ordering several appetizers. The char grilled oysters were a little spicier than I like but great taste. Last week was second and LAST time going to Cafe Centro. I placed an order online to be delivered to my son as i was leaving work. I got a confirmation and estimated time of delivery. An hour later, 5 min before my order was to be delivered I was notified that the 1.9 miles was too far to deliver. Not wanting to wait another hour I decide to pick it up. My food was cold and dry. I asked the manager why, if 1.9 milles was too far..they accepted my order and waited 5 min before it was due to notify me. Had a fabulous night out at Cafe Centro. This landmark bistro in the Northwood section is a must visit destination. We were entertained by Mr. Larry Johnson and Candy Rivers in classical Motown style. The food was absolutely fabulous. Chef Jaime is a culinary Mozart. Absolutely the best meal we have had in a while. The double cut pork chop was a masterpiece. Best ever. My Laura's salmon was moist, tender and flavorful. Penny and Rodney's filets were five star. Great music and people dancing all over the place . Server was not in a good mood. We walked in 40 minutes before closing, he was annoyed. We got our food and no one came to check on us AT ALL. We finished our food and had to look for our server. We asked for the bill. We purchased a Groupon and told him before we sat down. I showed him my voucher , he took my phone and left. I waited 5 minutes and walked inside. My phone was at the cash register, no one was around . Man gave us bill and there was %20 added gratuity for 2 people. I got shocked. Paid and left. Despite using sumac spice, which is my favorite spice in the entire world, the salad lacked any flavor. They start you off with this bland, room temperature white bread dinner roll that looks like a cinnamon bun. NO FLAVOR. It's like a Kentucky Fried Chicken roll I swear! Save your time and money.
