My daughter wanted to bring me here for my birthday. Was a little unsure because of the reviews but to make her happy we went. We were a party of 8, let me tell you our server Carlos was excellent. Food was amazing. We had the chargrilled oysters, grilled octopus and fettuccini carbonara. All we're excellent. Live entertainment played oldies music that we sang along to. Was an awesome night. We also ordered some lemon drop shots that we felt were watered down, but when we told them, they immediately gave us a round of limoncello shots to make up for it. Will definitely come back. Dinner started out ok though they did not have the wine we ordered from their list and they had to substitute. Wine and appetizer came out relatively promptly - then we got to sit for an hour waiting as everyone around us got served except for the table right next to us. We even had to sit for 20 minutes to flag our waitress to order more wine because we had drank our whole bottle. Finally the waitress got upset with the manager and he railed our dinners and the table next to us. Mediocre was the faire of the day, the Chicken Parm was ok, the Grouper dish was very fishy - not fresh at all, and the tri-color pasta with clams and shrimp screamed for garlic and seasoning, and the pasta was mushy. Unfortunately this was our last dinner for spring break 2017 and a real let down. I spoke with the owner, Teke and he really didn't seem to care. I guess that he has a nice following of locals and doesn't need the tourists. Thats too bad because restaurants like this give the whole industry a bad name. read more

Wow! What an unexpected pleasure. I'm not sure I was that impressed when I first walked in. The place was interesting enough visually and we ended up sitting at the bar. There was a guy at the piano playing songs from Phantom of the Opera. I guess it wasn't what I was expecting. But after dinner started, and the food was quite tasty, the piano player really got into the songs and interacting with the crowd. After that, it was a complete show. An absolute must if you are in the area and do make reservations because it sells out Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. read more

When i first walked in to this restaurant i was a little skeptical, i mean its two blocks from my home and yet i had never hear of it.To my delight , the atmosphere was lovely there were candles everywhere and the dim lighting and exposed brick walls made me feel cozy as i perused the Italian menu. For the first course, we ordered a pizza (which is made at the attached pizzeria Allegro-which also delivers), Fried Calamari and Mussels in a red sauce. All were delicious: pizza crust was thin and as the name denotes, crusty. The mussels were perfect, with extra sauce for dipping. The calamari was lightly flash fried and the only complaint i had was the sauce for said squid was bland. Next, we had the Chicken Marsala with whole wheat linguine. Linguine with white clam sauce and pasta Bolognase. All, AMAZING!!! i especially loved that whole wheat pasta. Plus, all of the pastas are made either on the premises or at a small market around the corner so you know its always fresh. I can say this with all honesty, if you are looking for good, pure, simple Italian food then this is your place. It is the perfect upscale neighborhood Italian restaurant that we were in need of. Café Centro is a great little Italian restaurant located in the Northwood area of WPB. Not really a great area but a great restaurant. The service was top notch and the food had fantastic flavor. We just got home from the restaurant and now my wife is cooking herself some dinner. The shrimp was poorly defrosted frozen the carbonara was not carbonara, and if you ask for a manager there was none to be found. After making a reservation to listen to the live music we were put in another room completely without. Although the service was very good, thank you Tor and the restaurant was clean it is very seldom that we go to a place where we can not eat the food. read more

We also had their signature dish 'Chicken Allora'..veal Marsala and Linguini Pescador. All very good. We finished with a pistachio Tartufo . I cannot wait to go again. This strikes me as a place that is *really* dependent on WHAT you order. We started with the squash blossoms which were stuffed with gorgonzola mousee and they were very good! Lightly fried and tasty. I'd planned to order either the Lobster Fra Divola or the Linguine Bolognese -- both of which sounded good to me. However, my friend asked what his favorite things on the menu were and he mentioned the spicy chicken rigatoni was his favorite of the pastas so I went with that. I usually shy away from chicken dishes when dining out because its easy to cook at home, but because of the recommendation I went with it. My friend got the duck and polenta which she enjoyed and I tried and thought was very good too. However, my dish looked and tasted like something I could whip up at home in about 20 minutes. There were a few sparse pieces of broccoli, rubbery, overcooked chicken, and some cheese sprinkled on top. I am NOT saying it tasted awful, just I expect something more interesting and of higher quality for $20. There was no cohesive sauce that held it together and overall just wasn't very good. Additionally, to split, we ordered a side of brussels sprouts with pancetta and gorgonzola. It was good, because, how can you ruin brussels sprouts; however, I found them to be a bit under cooked. Lastly, we had peanut butter chocolate pie which was very good (but mostly because I like sweets, not because it was the highest quality). I am honestly surprised this place has been open for as long as it has. I would not choose to go back, but if I did - if I was with someone who wanted to go - I would follow my gut on what I wanted to order. read more

We like to sit outside, when it's nice, or inside, but not in the front part of the restaurant.. The front looks like a diner, the other side like fine dining. However, on the weekend they have a $20 min. per person in the fine dining part. On this evening, it was very windy outside, and we wanted pizza, so went elsewhere. In kind of an off the beaten place. Not to large. The night we went (with 3 other couples)it was packed. Had reseverations. Seated right away. The noise level is right up there. Had a long table so could not hear friends at other end of table. They had entertaiment which added to the noise level. The food was wonderful. Service was excellent. I had side ceaser salad for $5.00. Very good. I ordered chicken parm as my main course$24.00 best I've ever had, $24.00. Nothing like I was expecting. Almost looked like aa large portion of meatloaf. Very tall and crispy on outside, chicken and cheese on inside. Really good. all the other 7 people in our party ordered different dishes. All excellent. Very good service. Never asked for refills on our soft drinks or water. They just showed up. The entertainment was a couple that played music from the 50's and 60's. Not to loud and some people got up and danced. I would only recommend Cafe Centro for their Entertainment only...Great music. The food on the hand, lacks any flavor. I hardly ever send food back but my fish dish went back. The waitress did replace my dish with a pasta bolognese which a jar of Ragu tastes better. No spices, no flavor Instant heartburn...Our party of four were very unhappy with...next time if I go back, I would just go for drinks and the music. read more

My wife and I plus 2 other couples celebrated a birthday. The restaurant had a neighborhood yet intimate feel due to its location and small size. The service was excellent. There was no feeling of being rushed or of having to wait a long time for our drinks, food or refills. The entertainment was excellent as well. The piano guy took requests and often asked whether the tempo should increase or decrease. The music was very danceable. Another plus was that we could stay at our table for the entire evening. The one downside to the evening was the food. My wife could have prepared a better meal than those we received. The cost of the food was about $10 higher than a chain Italian restaurant which probably was due to the entertainment. If you dont care about the quality of the food, you can have a great evening if you enjoy music and dancing. Tip is 20% for 6 or more. read more

Service was poor on many levels...meals delivered to the wrong people, some items forgotten all together, had to ask for water refills, drinks, etc. Disproportionate cost of drinks vs food (reasonably priced food, in my opinion). Came for a friend's bday...they didn't even offer dessert. Bill was messed up in a few ways, and then, to boot, they helped themselves to a 20% "service fee" and then provided 15, 18 and 20% dollar amounts for us to tip on. Hmmm... On the flip side, fun music and lively crowd. Had we not been so annoyed with our choice of dinner venue, we would gone inside for more birthday fun. read more

Very good customer service. We came right after work since I work downtown and we weren't dressed up or anything but they still treated us with polite courtesy. It is a pretty fancy place with cloth table cloths and cloth napkins. The fettuccine carbonara is so good. The pasta and pancetta is addictive. It was luscious and Al dente. Pasta tasted very fresh. We also had the black seafood linguine. It had plenty of shrimp and calamari. The dinner rolls are delicious. Watch out if you use Groupon because they automatically charge a service fee which is equivalent to a tip based on the regular price. The waitress was very friendly to point it out and not try to pull a fast one on us and get double tip. This tells you it's an honest establishment and great food! read more

Tried their Classic Margherita pizza and it was pretty good. A nice fairly thin crust with some tasty ingredients. Had a white sauce instead of tomato sauce was was still amazing. My mom and I love this place. First, there's valet parking. Second, it's in a "comer" of a neighborhood, Northwood, beginning to get charming. Third, it does everything right that chain restaurants do but it has a sense of someone with vision being behind it. The specialties are on the Italian and seafood end of the spectrum. Ravioli and linquine with bolognese sauce are among the entrees we've tried and enjoyed. Nice wine list, desserts include tartufo pistachio. Airy, light, stylish interiors with tables beautifully set with china and crystal. Good for disabled individuals -- all one level. read more

We just had a perfect lunch with no negs whatsoever. I had the entire fish on the bone, grilled, and it absolutely terrific. A bottle of Soave was excellent.
