Besides the food being amazing and prepared quickly, they had live entertainment. This was no ordinary live entertainment. The servers and bar tenders were up and singing and all apart of the show. We ordered the bruschetta - the only problem is we got a tomato salad. It was tomatoes and tons of onion in a place with a few pieces of bread that were too thin to even make a bruschetta. Looked like a great place to have Christmas dinner. 7 of us in all, 3 in from College and 2 in High School. Had reservations, its a nice place. You would think all should run well. We sat down ordered a nice bottle of wine and a couple of drinks. Then took our order. 3 steaks, a pizza and 2 pasta dinners. Not to mention a bread for appetizer. We sat there for an hour 1/2 did not see the server again. I had to get up and ask what was going on. Maybe refill our water. Not to mention, we would have liked to order another drink. 2 hours have gone and still no dinner. Finally a margarita pizza came to the table for my daughter. She was the only one to eat. We waited 2 1/2 hours and her food was all that came. Never telling us when the rest was coming out. They honestly didn't know. Yet had the nerve to ask me to pay for the wine and pizza. They ruined my families Christmas dinner yet all they cared about was paying them for what we did get. Absolutely crazy. I left money for the wine and that was it. If they had any class they would have said on us and maybe a sorry. I realize its not the waiters fault, but show some kind of class and offer maybe another drink or appetizer. Something. Ok so we went tonight for Christmas Eve. Reservation at 6:30. We were seated next to the door. Many other tables open. Thor the original waiter came by once. Then had numerous other waiters. What a fun place! Excellent food and even better live music -- at least Saturday night. Terrific singer and keyboardist, huge repertoire. Plus they got the whole place singing and dancing. One of the best evenings in a long time. Our family (all adults) accidentally discovered it after spending several days with hospitalized father. This is probably one of the best Italian restaurants in West Palm Beach and is probably the only one with a piano bar, what makes this place unique. The interior decor is beautiful, cozy, and romantic. The waiters are friendly and profeccional. you can tell they are happy working in this place. The food is great, all tough the amounts are not huge, each plate will satisfies you. On the weekends they have great entertainment. The pianist knows about every song that you can think of. Very disappointing! Unfortunately, restaurant now has a new owner and chef and we were very disappointed with entire experience. Menu has changed and is missing some of my favorite entrees. Service was very disorganized; waitstaff really tried to be accommodating, but problem must have been in the kitchen. I ordered the portabella pizza for dinner, which was tasty, but my husband's pan seared salmon arrived 30-45 minutes later and was definitely not worth the wait. If you enjoy going there to have a great time being entertained by Ray in the piano bar area, he is no longer there! They had two female singers, who have very pleasant voices , but experience does not compare to the great time that was had when Ray performed there. The owner did do the professional thing and our dinners were comped, but we are sad to say we will not return. read more

I've been to Cafe Centro probably more than 20 times, mostly because I live down the street and I know I can take my coworkers there for a good dinner. I find they have great salads, a decent wine selection, and satisfying dinners. They'll customize your order however you like... substitute a sauce or add meat, etc. without any trouble. I think it's great that I have a place just outside my neighborhood that serves real food... not cheap, heavy Italian like most of the places out there. They don't claim to be the hottest thing around and their food is not really "special" per se... just fresh. I appreciate the comfortable but elegant atmosphere. You can sit outside with your dog, be seen near the piano, or hear the ridiculous conversations of the neatly-dressed patrons up front. read more

This was our first time to the restaurant. The food was delicious and priced well. Drinks were great and the staff very attentive. We went with friends who had been several times before so they knew to reserve a table in the bar room with the piano. The entertainment was fun and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The only down side was that it had rained so they needed to move the people who had reserved outside into the main room and it was very very crowded. I will definitley go back again! read more

Eat elsewhere.... I'm not saying the food isn't good, but if you make a reservation, it will inevitably be messed up or you will be told for some reason they don't have the reservation (unless perhaps you have a big tip). The food is acceptable. The service is less than adequate, although friendly. While we asked for separate tabs for at least two of us, we were told at the end of the evening that they could not accommodate that request. So, we spent the last 30 minutes doing their job. Don't trust them for a reservation, and don't trust them to work out the bill properly for you. The show on Friday night is very entertaining, but you don't need to spend time eating there and trusting their service before hand. read more

We walked into centros last night and only 3 tables were filled. 3 servers were standing near the kitchen and not one of them would acknowledge our presence. I waved and smiled and received blank stares in return. A host finally approached, told us they were full but we could have the table by the door. VERY VERY bad exterior presentation. Could be so great with just SOME thought and care.. makes me a tiny bit nervous that if the outside is so neglected,what does the KITCHEN look like?? Have to update. I did not post this at first thinking i was being overly critical, but drove by today and it looks WORSE! What are these people thinking about? Café Centro is my absolute favorite restaurant in West Palm Beach. I eat here about 3 times a week. all the food is fresh and the staff is super friendly. i would recommend the black linguini, it is little spicy sometimes and is spectacular. the penne alla vodka is also great and so is the linguini with clams. The thin crust pizza is also superb. make sure to ask for the spicy olive oil to use with the pizza. it is a great touch. read more

Have had two meals at Cafe Centro and both were wonderful. Enough portion to be boxed up and savored the next day. Have to say that both were lunch dates and both times enjoyed the calzone. It was fresh, had mine with mushroom filling and I knew I was eating mushrooms, which were wonderful. One companion had penne ala vodka with shrimp, which looked scrumptious and was confirmed so. I would return to this Cafe again. No problem with service, perhaps a little long to be serviced. The review that said the bread looked like a cinnamon roll was actually a garlic roll and was a little too covered in butter or oil. Messy to eat and not really flavorful. My husband and I went here a few months ago and only because I purchased a groupon and was curious about this restaurant. Well I don't understand how this place has even 4 stars on this site, because it deserves not even the one I gave it We were seated and sat for a few minutes before someone came around. Every table was given bread but us and when we finally got it ,which I had to ask for it, it was not very good.. Service was very poor. I ordered a Ceaser salad to share with my husband and it was terrible. I ordered Pasta Carbonara and my husband ordered a Chicken Pasta dish. Both were very generic and flavorless. When we were ready to leave it took them forever to return with the bill to minus the cost of the groupon. We will not go back. Experince was terrible. read more

If I could give this place a zero, I would. From the service, to the food, to the general ambiance it was a disgrace. While people rave on and on about the scene and the piano and the music, we were misguided and misinformed. After confirming multiple times with the manager and others that we would in fact be in this room, we were instead placed in a back room that was empty and desolate. We heard no music from the piano room and instead heard music coming from our waiters Pandora. This was a huge disappointment and would not go back even if we were given a free meal - better yet, even if they paid us. This use to be my favorite restaurant. No longer. My husband and I got there early on Sunday. We were seated at a table by the window, the menus came (they need to get new menus they were shabby and not appealing). We ordered our food, after we ate our 1st course the waiter came to the table and said a mistake was made our table was reserved and we needed to change tables. With that our plates were cleared and we had to move to another table.. The place was empty these people could not sit anywhere else. I was told they were regulars and the owner told the waiter to move us. I asked to see the owner he never came. Did not offer a glass of wine for the inconvenience. Lets get to the food, not as good as in previous visits. Lets put it this way unless your a regular the owner really doesn't care about you. I end up here most times I'm in the Palm Beaches because it's near my mother's house, and it is a locally owned, reasonably priced restaurant. I absolutely hate the bread they serve, and if they could fix that problem, I would consider giving another star. They serve "garlic rolls" that are drenched in garlic butter sauce. A crispy baguette would be much better. Fish entrees here are usually excellent. The linguine pescatore is excellent. I had a salad of the day last visit - arugula, shaved parmesan, and fennel - that was excellent, and a nice pasta dish. It's an older crowd, just so you know, by older I mean retirees, not people in their 40s. Decor is very cute with local art. So much potential. read more

We had been here a few time before and always had a good meal and pleasant time, but not last night. Table of 4, reservations at 7:30. Place was pretty busy so the table we were given was not the best (near the front door) but that was okay. Sitting for over 20 minutes with no word from the waitstaff was NOT okay! We could see that other tables seated later were being taken care of. We got up to leave and asked the hostess if a manager was there. The woman who came over said "I do not understand" when we voiced our displeasure. Not sure if she didn't understand English (she had a heavy accent) or thought a 20 minute wait was no reason to be upset. Was it because we were 4 gay men or were they just short staffed? Not sure, but we won't be going back and will make sure all our friends and neighbors here in North Palm Beach hear our tale. read more

If it wasn't for a birthday celebration with a large group of good friends, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the New Cafe Centro. The only reason we frequented this restaurant in the past 4 years, was for the entertainer Ray Chang. Unfortunately, he's gone. We thought we'd give it a chance with the new management. There was a couple of singers that "had just arrived from California that morning." They sang their hearts out for an hour with old world Italian songs. The crowd tried to talk over the music, but, we couldn't hear each other across the table. They moved onto show tunes from there. Got to give them an "A" for effort, but there was no dancing until the recorded music started to play. That's when the party got started. When my husband went to the bar to get a drink they charged him $11 for a glass of ice with some vodka. When he complained they topped it off with a splash for another $2. The menu seemed fine, but for pizza and salads with a few main dishes, the bill was much more than this place was worth. Must say that the manager did do the right thing (so he gets 1 star) by serving trays of shots, but, unfortunately there's no Ray Chang. read more

The food is pretty good considering it's Italian food in South Florida, and the staff are kind and competent. I took my wife here for her birthday dinner... big mistake. The service was bad, the food was really, really, really bad. We got a beet salad and that tasted decent, but the field greens were soggy and smushed on the plate. Wish the food had been good. We were very hungry and it was the first dinner they served. The food was old, pasta and shrimp. Like it had been in the frig the night before. Not sure why they served that bread and it was cold. The negative atmosphere outside, dirty, and the planters with the dieing plants and multiple cigarettes thrown in the planters. Bad energy. We had the good fortune of going to Café Centro last night for New Year's Eve. It was an absolutely great experience. The food was outstanding and the service was outstanding as well. Both the owner TK and Betsy the manager could not have been more accommodating. After dinner the street was closed off and the music began. Local FL restaurant with an ugly NY attitude! Been here several times with a local friend that goes here WEEKLY...and have had a great time. The bartender and piano man, Ray, that work the weekends are super. But this is where good service stops. The wait staff has always been less than attentive. The manager does an absolute disservice to this place with his inability to resolve issues satisfactorily. We were on the waiting list for over a week to get a table. They called on Wed to say they had a cancellation and had a table for our party of 4 for Friday night and we were assured the table was in the piano room as we knew to ask this ahead of time. We got there and they said they were sorry but the people showed up that had originally cancelled their reservations and 'they threw a fit' so they had to seat them at the table reserved for us. We were seated in the foyer outside the piano room. The staff just scoffed and laughed us off as we expressed our frustration with the situation. We should have been notified with a phone call as to the table situation so we could go elsewhere as we all drove 40 minutes to get there, passing many other options along the way. Needless to say, a table left an hour and 45 min later so we were able to move into the piano room to enjoy the last 45 min of the 2+ hour show. When we were ready to leave we asked the manager if our bill was taken care of since our waiter had disappeared and we never got a bill from him. He said, 'that is up to your waiter.' I said, 'well, aren't you the manager and aware of our situation?' He said he was the manager and aware of the situation then asked 'Didn't you have fun?' We told him, 'yes an hour and 45 min AFTER we were seated.' He again said 'but didn't you have fun?' We restated 'yes, an hour and 45 min AFTER we were seated.' After walking away to discuss our situation with the waiter (cause, evidentially, in this restaurant...its up to the waiters to resolve issues) he took $20 off our $100 check which didn't even cover 1 bottle of wine on the check! It was no sweat off his back to make repeat clients happy, yet he chose to handle the situation with a nasty attitude and a pathetic gesture of apology. We WON'T be back! And strongly suggest you consider the many other Italian dining options in the area over this one. read more

Tonight was such a surprise ..... I've recently had the opportunity to eat several meals at different restaurants in the historic Northwood neighborhood in West Palm Beach. But.....
