I hadn't really thought much about this place until somebody I follow on Instagram had featured their banana bread latte and the outdoor fireplace table. We decided to go check it out on a Saturday morning. It was a cold morning and we went when they opened at 8:00, so we were the only ones out on the patio. The fire kept us warm and our kids thought it was so neat! This is a counter service style place. Order up front and then they'll bring the food to your table. It did take a little bit to get our drinks and food but the place was getting pretty busy considering they just opened. The menu has a nice variety of breakfast items and they have seasonal drinks also. It was definitely on the pricier side so you should expect restaurant pricing and not coffee shop/cafe pricing. Our dishes were close to $20 each so after those and two coffees and a scone, we ended up paying about $60 which seems steep for breakfast. Banana Bread Latte - comes with banana chips on the side! This was so delicious and I'd definitely order it again. Banana Bread French Toast - very generous portion! I took home half for leftovers. It's very dense since it's banana bread but I loved the mascarpone with all the other sweet elements. Just wish they put more of it and wish the sliced bananas were ripe! Grilled Ham and Cheese Benedict - this was the winning dish. So savory and cooked really well! I actually preferred it over another famous grilled cheese benedict in Sacramento. Nutella Cappuccino - I was excited about this one but the Nutella flavor wasn't quite there. It was all coagulated at the bottom so maybe the coffee was not hot enough when it got added on top. Also this is not a traditional cappuccino since it was latte size. Overall loved the ambiance and the coffee here. It was a solid brunch place but wouldn't come regularly because of how expensive it is, but would definitely add it to the list to go to with a friend or special occasion! read more

Hidden Gem in Downtown Sac! This cozy cafe is one of my fav hidden spots in downtown Sac! I've tried their savory crepes, soup, and salads--all delicious--but last night, I went for the Nutella crepe with strawberries, and it was amazing. The crepe had a perfect crispiness (I'm big on texture), and our sweet waitress even brought extra Nutella on the side, which was such a nice touch. The inside has a festive Christmas vibe with a lovely tree, but my cousin and I opted for the outdoor seating. The fountain and fire pit tables made it such a vibe, and we stayed nice and warm, even with my cousin's anemia. Long overdue review! LOVE coming here! I've introduced so many people to Cafe Dantorels and love coming here myself! Today I went with one of my good friends to catch up. We usually go on the weekends, which gets pretty busy by about 10:30a but we were there around 11:30a today (a Monday) and there were plenty of spots to sit! I ordered the special which was the lasagna, salad, and garlic bread and he got the dantorels chicken sandwich and fries!! The lasagna was SO tasty! Not a huge fan of the salad, but it was super fresh! I also appreciate the regular water and "fancy" (cucumber) water options. My friend said the sandwich was good as well! We also ordered some drinks which are a must when we go there. I ordered the iced chai latte with oat milk and whip whipped cream and he got a hot banana bread latte. If there's one thing I can say for sure about cafe dantorels, it's that ALL of their drinks are delicious! I highly recommend the iced strawberry matcha latte if you've never had it! 3.75 stars The place itself is adorable, ample seating, it had garden vibes, Mediterranean vibes, casual, but also good for date nights and a meal out with the lady friends. Walking in I didn't expect it to be a walk up & order type of place, which really helps when you don't want to deal with splitting checks at the end. I really liked the restaurant itself. We sat in the outer part where the waterfall is, but the downside to that, especially when it's raining is there's no way to keep yourself warm. There is no outdoor heaters there and when it's raining you can't really hear what the friends you are with are saying very well. The huge shared table with a fire on it was gorgeous aesthetically but it doesn't help foster communication with the person across from you. It does lend a little warmth but not much. We went on a Sunday afternoon so lots of ppl were out in force. The menu is pretty extensive. You will see something for all tastebuds there. They have omelets, even seen a tofu one for those who don't eat meat, steak & eggs, 7 types of eggs benedicts, I seen a portobello eggs benedict that sounded lovely, 6 types of bagels, a lox one that sounded good, dessert crepes, my friend had the strawberry crepe she said she gets a lot, they also have dinner crepes, sandwiches, soups, teas, coffee by Temple, burgers, pasta, entrees. I wanted a salad specifically and yelp rated the salmon salad really high. Unfortunately, I really disliked the lemon vinaigrette dressing a lot. It was way too tart and unpalatable. Hubby got the steak salad which was a different dressing and so yummy. So we switched and I ended up eating his salad. If I ever went back I'd try the portobello benedict, a portobello crepe, or a California crepe which has sun dried tomato pesto, avocado, and spinach in it. But I'd eat inside due to how cold it was last time outside. Due to space I'd say it can accommodate groups and casual dates but I personally wouldn't suggest it for an intimate date because it's loud in there and the way to pay is not exactly formal. Service wasn't super great, we barely seen our server, maybe just 1 time when we got our food. W've seen Cafe Dantorels many times. Finally we stopped in for lunch the other day. Everyone was very friendly and the staff seemed to enjoy their work. We heard several loud cheers from the kitchen while we were eating. You order at a counter and food is brought to your table. There is plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. My wife ordered the salmon sandwich and I ordered the crispy chicken club. Each sandwich comes with fries and a dill pickle. The sandwiches are really delicious and big. I was really hungry so I ate half my sandwich before remembering to take a photo. If two people are both not too hungry one sandwich and the fries would be sufficient. We are really glad we gave this lovely neighborhood gem a try. One more reason to love Curtis Park. read more

I've ordered this menu after 4 pm, the steak is well season and medium rare. I can tell you about this one. Honestly, I don't love it but still judging of what they are trying to make it better. The veggies are not overcooked nor undercooked. It was flavorful and still missing the taste. Last, I don't understand what are the two little cups for but still rid of the raisin and cheese. Weird combination. The service is lacking that not I expected as a cafe servers. Something that I didn't like about but I assume it has a background of what should the waiter or server be doing at the cafe. The environment was nice and clean. Cafe Dantorels is a solid option for lunch, though it tends to get busy, especially around midday. This was my first time in and by 11:30 a.m., it was already pretty packed, and parking was available on-street and had to walk a bit. You order and pay upfront and they bring the food to your table, which works well with the casual atmosphere and I enjoyed the option of eating outside on a nice day. I recently had the Wetsern BBQ bacin burger and fries, and it's a good sized burger. It was pretty good and filled me up.  Decent option for lunch, I'd come back again. read more

This is my go to place when I'm seeing a show at Sierra 2 center, walking around beautiful Curtis Park or just wanting something good in a pretty, sparkly venue! This is one of our go-to spots after Sunday church or prior to a day at the zoo. Whether it is busy or not, we have yet to experience poor service or dissatisfying food (or lattes). On cold days, the interior offers plenty of nice seating and ample lighting. There is an area out back with a running fire place too. Ordered the Spanish farm burger. ZERO GUAC on it even though I got charged as if it had everything stated on the menu. Fries were all burnt and hard as if they were re heated or refried from yesterday's batch fries looked like those super cheap off brand fries you can find at Walmart the extra cheap thin ones. With the prices they have on the menu NOTHING should look and taste this low quality. We ordered a hot white mocha and a regular coffee followed an order of grilled cheese&ham Benedict w/ side order 4 strips of bacon and an order of breakfast in Tijuana. To finish our brunch we also shared a classic French toast. Overall the food was on the slightly bigger portion size and the taste and flavors of everything was on point and great! My wife really enjoyed the breakfast in Tijuana - highlights were the eggs with the bell peppers and salsa. Very good. The coffee has a solid flavor and mocha came in on a sweeter side. There are outdoor seats in the front that are pet friendly and an outdoor patio with a table top fire pit for group seating. This place used to be my favorite brunch spot, I have been coming here weekly since 2012. They had the best Turkey BLT, burger and the most delicious orange juice/carrot juice. Sadly I have watched this place get worse and worse every year. It's not entirely this restaurants fault as prices are inflated everywhere but $60 for two sandwiches and 2 drinks is ridiculous, especially when the order gets messed up and the servers seem to not care. I usually don't mind the mess ups by the staff as I see they are very busy but the actual item I received was half the price I paid and totally different. The inside of the restaurant is basically like a concert, very loud and can barely hear your own conversation. The tables are too close to each other as I was rubbing elbows with strangers, seems like this place is just focusing on maximizing profits instead caring and valuing their customers. I doubt I will be coming here monthly now, will most likely just take my orange juice to go. read more

Came here at 2 pm on a Sunday, waited 30 min in line which wasn't a great start but we knew it was busy so it was okay. All of our cocktails came separately, by the time our 4th persons cocktail came, the 1st persons cocktail was basically done. We waited over 30 min for our food (2 burgers, 1 sandwich, 1 crepe, 1 salad). I went inside and asked at the 30 min mark where our food was and the response was "they're working on it"....like yes, obviously they're working on it but where is it? Can I get an ETA or an apology? When the food arrived, one persons fries were under done, the salad was underdressed, and we waited an additional 5+ min for the crepe (which you would think would be fast and easy to make). My friend didn't like her crepe, and when we spoke with the manager she gave an excuse that it was busy so food taking 30 min isn't a big deal. Then she said she wouldn't refund us for the crepe that we didn't even eat, that she could maybe do 50% refund. My response was "I paid over $200 for this meal and you can refund one dish?" And she finally said yes. Overall: food was mid, drinks were mid, service was TERRIBLE. will not come back again and will not recommend to anybody. read more

Ah dang. So good. This place is slept on for sure. They have a ton of new menu items so I took the fall for y'all and tried one, the haute burger. I don't know whose idea it was but this was amazing. It's like a western/cowboy burger which they also have, with bacon, melted cheese, sauteed onions, and aioli, and some arugula for health purposes ofc. I used the BBQ sauce for the sweet potato fries on the side which were just a mountain. The whole plate was, honestly. I had to put some away off the bat or I didn't trust I wouldn't eat it all and get sick. Crispy yet squishy fries were perfect. The cowboy burger was very tempting but this is pretty similar so I'm happy with my choice, since I went from pasta to salad to basically everything on the menu. Stupid ADHD. I also sampled the chicken fettuccine which was decent but definitely not the all star player on this table. The garlic bread was good. We got a pumpkin scone for dessert not shown, which tasted like pumpkin and was excellent. Self service mostly as always. Their Christmas decor is cute. We went to eat here after my daughter's musical performance. My family ordered burgers/sliders and my daughter ordered pasta. Well, they forgot about my daughter's meal, and gave it to someone else. We waited a little while because our family won't eat until everyone's meal was on the table. My husband asked about her meal and it took another 20 minutes to make it. Since it took so long, we couldn't pick up to eat our burgers because the bottoms were so soggy. The staff could care less about what happened. There was no apology, nothing. This gem of a coffee shop is ahhmazing. The counter staff are friendly, fast and efficient as they demonstrated making my specialized Matcha Latte . But wait there's more! The array of fresh pastries, drinks and snacks is impressive. I enjoyed a chicken roll that was perfectly lightly seasoned with a flaky crust. So good! There are tables inside and a countertop area with stools that face a large window and view. The overall area is not very large. However, there is room to maneuver a small mobility device if interested in table seating. Wheelchair users may feel more at ease at the countertop area and the stools can be easily moved out the way. Love that this little shop is in my neighborhood and a quick roll gets me to this place to enjoy customized hot or cold drinks and delicious foods. read more

I've been coming here for a long time but lately I've been pulling back. The prices have gone WAY WAY WAY up where a vege burger and a soda is in the $30.00+ range. This is crazy. I wait in line and there is an expectation of a tip before the meal and before I'm served. I don't like the automatic tip screen when ordering. The food is above average but not reasonable for the prices. Service is perfunctory with a "quick plunk it down and go delivery" to the table and that's it. Servers feel detached from customers more into themselves as a group. No one comes to your table to ask if your meal was good. I'm beginning to feel ripped off here. I went to Cafe Dantorels with a friend for brunch this past Sunday. This place has cute outside seating. We went inside and got in line to order. The line was fairly short for a Sunday at 11 AM. We ordered the Benedicts: I had the chorizo and my friend had the smoked salmon. We each ordered a delicious coffee--I had the mocha latte, and she had the lavender latte. Our drinks came first, and we enjoyed them for a bit. Our food came shortly after. The plates were loaded with home fries, and the food was delicious. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the chorizo was spicy but well-balanced. Our waitress dropped off our food, and that was the last time we saw her. Once we were done, a separate person picked up our dishes. I get it--they are not working for tips since we order and pay before we sit down.
