I've read the positive reviews on yelp and nearly all of them refer to the great Thai food. Wish I had tried the Thai as I tried two Vietnamese dishes: Chicken Pho and the Vietnamese BBQ Shrimp, neither one of which I liked. The chicken in the pho was tough and I just didn't find a soup with broth, noodles, chicken and bean sprouts to be all that interesting. I'm sure the Thai soups would have been much better. The vegetable pho might be more interesting b/c it is loaded with veggies from the picture. The Vietnamese BBQ Shrimp wasn't very interesting either -- a mound of rice noodles with some lettuce, shrimp and a sweet and sour chilli sauce. That chilli sauce is a dipping sauce for rolls and can't be an entree sauce--it's just too sweet. Just like catsup is great to dip fries into but you wouldn't pour catsup all over your noodles instead of spaghetti sauce. On a positive note, the owner/waiter was fast and pleasant. We landed at this place after the Nepal's cafe next door had a line snaking out the door. Boy, were we pleasantly surprised! We were a party of 8 adults and 2 kids and had to wait 15 odd mins (It was the sunday of the 4th of july weekend). The place did not look like much, overlooking a parking lot, but the ambience inside was pretty good. The food was fantastic. We ordered chicken satay and thai salad for appetizers and drunken noodles and red,green,massaman and red curries for the main course. A breath of fresh air just off Elkhorn. My wife and I wandered into here after trying in vain to find something worthwhile on Elkhorn. Tip: it's not to be found. We went early on Saturday night for dinner (before 5pm). We found the service excellent. The hostess and waiter were both very friendly. We were greeted with warm smiles. They were quick to seat us and quick to serve us. Pro tip for others who complain about having to wait a long time for a dinner table: If you walk into a restaurant on the weekend at peak meal time in a huge tourist area, prepare to wait. Or you can go to the downtown Safeway, buy a microwave Cup of Ramen, and enjoy an instant meal in one minute. Sheesh! But back to Cafe de Pho-Tai: My husband ordered the Thai BBQ bowl and was pleased. The Tom Kha Gai soup was good. My daughter had fresh springs rolls and chicken pho that came in a large bowl. I really liked my Massaman curry with chicken and potatoes - the sauce was just the right balance of sweet and spicy. And unlike a lot of other Thai restaurants, the portion size here was generous. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't have sticky rice as a stand-alone dessert on the menu, but the mango ice cream with a tiny spoonful of sticky rice was just fine. Pretty good veggie and tofu pho, and my mom said her pad thai was pretty good as well. Not the best I've ever had, but for Estes Park, I was impressed. The restaurant lacks atmosphere and seemed a little dirty, and we were the only guests for lunch at 12:30 (which isn't that surprising for Estes in the off-season, but still felt a little weird). My wife and I arrived around 5pm for dinner. We're still on EST and had spent the day driving to Grand Lake and back on Trail Ridge Rd. and seeing the sights. The restaurant was about half full. They were stuffed with mushrooms, carrots, and crunchy veg. The skin was crisp and freshly-fried. I liked them without the sauce, which was a bit too sweet for my taste. I had the basil fried rice with tofu. It contained plenty of fried tofu triangles and veg. I ordered it medium spicy and it made my tongue tingle, like Indian mild. The portion was large. It was pretty tasty but a bit on the oily side for my taste. I would eat it again but probably wouldn't seek it out. I think I would if it were a bit less oily. If you order it, maybe ask them to use half the oil they normally would. My wife had Pad Thai with chicken. Her mild spice was "not nothing" on the spice scale. She said "It was pretty good." I asked her if she wanted to add anything to that and she replied "Nope. Is that cool?" There you have it. Overall it was a fast, decently priced meal of freshly cooked food. I chose to leave a review for the simple fact that so many people were bashing the Phô. Yes, it is not very rich or flavorful BUT I did find it will fulfill your craving when in town. Phô is not easy to make so for a little restaurant in the mountains of Colorado I found it to be okay. I've eaten Phô all over the country and it certainly wasn't the worst I have ever had. I went here last night after a day of fun in the mountains. It was a horrible choice. Let me get started. Service was nonexistent for our table, food was not good nor fresh. I got the beef meatball Pho. Let's start with the cons - the broth had no flavor. The noodles in it are a joke. Only a half handful. No Pros. I also tried the Drunken Noodle. Another bad choice. It feels like they just dumped sugar into their noodles and don't give a crap about it. I also never had Drunken Noodles that sweet before. The shrimp bowl? Tasteless. The paper they use is not rice paper. It's the paper they use for spring rolls. Terrible. No one really enjoyed their meal at our table of 10. We were ready to get out of here but when we looked at our bill it didn't seem correct. Forget about tipping, it's already done. A automatic 18% for nonexistent service. The worst part is that they charged a fee for KIDS! Shouldn't they don't count?? They don't look like adults! But we payed and rushed out of there. We decided to give this place a try for dinner tonight and man I am so glad we did! I ordered the green curry with chicken. My wife got the thai basil fried rice with chicken and the kids got pho with chicken. My curry was good ,but just a little sweeter than I am used to..the kids pho was good too, but needed more noodles both dishes were good ,but nothing really special....but the the Thai Basil Fried Rice was .....a freakin taste Mardi Gras in my mouth!...I am sure once we leave Estes Park I would crave this dish like a crack addict on a cruise. I am already planning the rest of our trip in Estes park around going back to eat here! I would describe how it taste ,but i am afraid I would only do it disservice if I even try. One of the better Thai places my wife and I have ate at recently. Not necessarily the best but a very solid choice for good Thai. A cozy little place that may not look like much but the food is very flavorful and fresh. I had a curry duck dish and my wife had a ginger tofu dish, with spring rolls as an appetizer. We were both very happy with everything we ordered and would definitely eat it again. The one drawback for us was the drink situation, they have a limited bar lacking in choice and quality. Cafe de Pho-Thai is a welcome refuge from the overpriced touristy crap that largely infests Estes Park. It's only been open a couple of weeks and it's a bit hidden so I hope the place makes it. The food is fresh, individually prepared, spiced to your liking and delicious. In the week we were in Estes we went to Pho-Thai twice for lunch and once for dinner. Each time it was great. Service is friendly, efficient and warm and everyone seems to genuinely appreciate you dining there. The crispy spring rolls are fresh, crispy and stuffed with fresh ingredients and served with a wonderful spicy-sweet sauce. I enjoyed the drunken noodles (medium spice was just enough to clear the passages without going overboard) and the unusual Vietnamese BBQ Shrimp and spring roll noodle dish, which is really a huge noodle salad full of vegetables, shrimp and a chopped-up springroll. By itself it's a little bland but it mixes well with the provided sauce and is a delightfully unique dish. Its only drawback was that the shrimp were extremely overcooked. The real star here is the curry. We had the green, the yellow and the "jungle" curries on different visits. The yellow curry was a little mild (still delicious though) but the green is one of the best curries I've ever tasted. Really excellent! I was not a fan of the Jungle Curry, which has no coconut milk and is just a thin curry broth with an unusual spice I didn't like. Again, the vegetables and meats were all very fresh in the curries and not overcooked at all. They also use actual Jasmine rice and don't try to pass some other rice off as jasmine. Cafe de Pho-Thai was the food highlight of our Estes Park trip. I hope they don't give in to obnoxious tourists' demands for bland and processed, Americanized fare and instead stick to what they're doing. They do it very well. read more

Honestly, coming here I thought it was a little fishy having Vietnamese and Thai Cuisine combined, but my boyfriend and I came here because we were pretty hungry and wanted some good ol Asian food! We ordered my favorite triple threat: Pineapple Fried Rice, Thai Style Papaya Salad (Spiciest), Roasted Duck curry and white rice on the side. First off, the pineapple fried rice tasted burnt, and I really couldn't taste the curry that is used in the pineapple fried rice, although I did enjoy the pineapple. I probably wouldn't order this dish again just because it tasted burnt and unflavored. My 2nd dish was the roasted duck curry- It was good. I give this dish 5 out of 5. I liked the thickness of the curry, and it had an ample amount of duck, and side vegetables, which I enjoyed on my rice. The 3rd dish was the papaya salad. I asked for the spiciest salad, but I couldn't taste the spice at all. The server did mention that if I wanted, she could make it spicier. But being as how my boyfriend can't really eat spicy food, and he enjoyed the salad, I decided to leave it as it was. Had I been eating the salad alone, I would have asked for it to spicier.
