Before I delve into why I'm sadly rating this place what I am, I want to preface my review by stating that the service here is super friendly and on point. Despite showing up during the noon rush on a Saturday, the one and only waiter/ host quickly showed us to our table and took our orders as soon as we were done looking through the menu. A+ for the service. The reason I would hesitate to come back is the food. A bowl of pho seemed like a great idea after strolling around Estes Park in the nippy early Spring weather. I ordered the pho with the steak and meatballs, and my husband ordered the pho with the steak. The little one got the chicken satay, which was the one edible thing we ordered. I can't really put my finger on why we both had trouble finishing our respective bowls of pho, though the hubby thinks that it was missing a lot of salt (to start). For me, it just tasted way different than any other pho I've ever had and the sriracha and hoisin sauce I added couldn't mask the different taste. While our bowls stayed pretty full, I was looking around at the other tables and people didn't seem to have trouble polishing off their plates. This was our last meal in Estes Park and it did not disappoint! The wait to be seated and to have our food served was not long at all. Our waitress was very sweet. We were disappointed with the food quality and the service. The 3 orders of vegetable fried rice were not flavorful nor did they have a reasonable amount of vegetables. The waitress did not give our table the at least the minimum attention that customer expects: she just took the order and brought the food, that's it. There were zero visits mid-meal to check up on us a good server would do. She did not bring enough water for me even to have a glass of water. It was only a short wait before we had two delicious piles of noodles sitting in front of us. I asked for chopsticks and got to work nibbling and slurping away. It hit the spot! At the end we asked our server for some hike recommendations in the area, as we had left Rocky Mountain National Park and didn't want to have to pay to re-enter. What a delightful surprise to find good Thai food in Estes Park. We ordered the pineapple fried rice and pad thai. Both dishes were very good -- filling portions and great flavor. We also ordered a side of vegetables and initially I was pretty upset because it was $7.99 for a bowl filled barely 1/4 of the way with like 2 pieces of broccoli,baby corn, carrot, and bean sprout mostly. Our server was attentive and thankfully was nice enough to adjust the price to $3 something, which made me feel a lot better. It shares a public parking lot with many other businesses in the immediate area. The lot is busy and tends to fill up. We couldn't find a space there, but there are some smaller overflow lots periodically up the street a ways. We found a (tight) space there and walked back. Service was good. The place seemed to be doing a brisk business, including some take-out. I ordered a noodle dish which I finished. I'm not sure what the others got, but they enjoyed their food also. So. Good! As someone who is both half-Vietnamese and vegetarian, this place made my heart so happy. I have never found a place that makes vegan cha goi (they call them "Crispy Spring Rolls") and theirs were delicious. I got the Vietnamese Noodle bowl and it was a HUGE portion with tons of very flavorful vegetables, after a long day of hiking I was more than satisfied!! The best thing I can say is this was the first time a dish upset me. I had the realization that I live in a city blessed with some fantastic Thai and Vietnamese food, but that Cafe de Pho Thai has now ruined all of them for me. The place itself is easy to miss off a parking lot behind the main strip. Even close to closing, there was a couple of minutes wait. We ordered the crab and cheese wontons, and the gyoza to start. This wasn't anything run of the mill or prepared by a vendor. I enjoyed the taste and consistency of both fillings, while the fry on both was perfect. The massaman curry was incredible. There was no notion of ingredients just thrown in a pot. The potato was appropriately soft and sensibly cut smaller to cook through, while the onion retained a mild firmness to compensate for the lack of texture from the peanuts. The sauce gave a smoky quality from the blended peanuts, with a decent punch of spice every now and then, but nothing to unbalance the flavor of the dish. read more

Five of us did an order for takeout and let's just say it took me back to my trip to Thailand! Among us we had the red curry, yellow curry, a noodle bowl, Pagnang curry, and jungle curry. We all thought they were fantastic and the medium level spice provided a nice little kick, but was still enjoyable. The chicken was great and not dry or anything either. Dining options in Estes Park are slim, so with this restaurant having one of the highest ratings in the area, we gravitated towards it. The decor feels a bit outdated but service is quick and friendly. The menu consists mostly of Thai food, with a few Vietnamese dishes. The Crab Wontons were fantastic. They were delivered to the table piping hot and filled with lots of crab and a light binder of cream cheese, instead of the other way around. The Pineapple Fried Rice was a large portion including both shrimp and chicken, pineapple chunks and some texture added with cashews. The Fresh Spring Rolls and the Tom Ka Kai soup were also delicious. My suggestion would be to stick with the Thai dishes. 2 of us ordered the Pho Tai and it was probably the worst version that I have ever had. The broth had absolutely no flavor, and the meat was boiled and bland as well. Even adding hoisin and Sriracha could not save it. Really, stay away. They offer bottled brews from the local Estes Park Brewery, which I felt was a nice touch. The Long's Peak Raspberry Wheat was delicious. You're probably best off choosing Cafe de Pho-Tai when dining in Estes Park despite the horrible fail of the bowl of Pho. read more

On a whim, we thought let's pick up some Thai for lunch. We called in our order, was supposed to be ready in 15 minutes, we arrived in 10 and it was just being bagged up. Lunch was delivered to us at the door by a friendly person wearing a face mask and gloves. We ate in the park across the street - which has benches and tables along the river. I love Cafe de pho Thai so much. It's a staple for my family. Consistently wonderful food, authentic pho and curry dishes. My favorite is the panang curry - so good! The service is always great. I always come here when I'm in Estes and look forward to it each time. While we went for lunch and were dressed casually, this place could easily be a classy place to go out to eat at night. Also, our server was very kind and even cracked some jokes, which I greatly appreciate. The location, staff, and aesthetic are great - but do not come here for the pho. My husband ordered the beef pho, and it came out in a giant bowl with a nice fresh hot plate - he was excited, but that only lasted until the first bite. I tried a sip and I'll say this: the pho wasn't bad, it just wasn't pho. The broth tasted like bouillon, and the meat wasn't very good quality. The noodles were a little too thick, and the amount of cilantro on top was a little off putting. We are slightly spoiled at home with some of the best pho you can get in the Midwest, so when we found there was a viet place in Estes on a chilly night, we were pleasantly surprised. It just didn't turn out, unfortunately. Pho rating: 1/5. I got the panang curry with pork, medium spice. Weirdly enough, medium spice in Iowa is a whole lot spicier, because this was pretty mild. The curry itself was pretty good, they spice it with chili paste so those few bites were a good twist. It wasn't sweet like most coconut curries, but it had a good peanut taste. The pork was sooo chewy and cut into somewhat large pieces, making it hard to bite through and ultimately to chew. Curry rating: 3/5. Our server was super nice and very attentive. The booths in the back are neatly set up with colored pillows, which made the place seem very comfy. We didn't have to wait more than maybe 5 minutes for our food, either. If the dishes were a little better, this could easily hit 5 stars. There are so many Asian restaurants around Estes tho, so I'm not sure we'll be back this trip. read more

My friend and I were very excited to have a bowl of warm pho in wet, chilly weather. Service was good and the server was attentive. My friend and I ordered the beef pho. After the first bite my friend and I looked at each other because it was off- it had NO flavor/seasoning you would expect. I added sriracha, hoisin sauce, and chili oil to the broth water. It didn't save it at all. Honestly what I think happened was that after the noodles were cooked, it wasn't drained properly so noodle water remained when they added the pho broth. It really should have been called Hint of Pho. It was the worst meal because it was so flavorless. I feel bamboozled by the other reviews saying this was the best ever. Ordered some Thai food for takeout, and was not impressed. Food was on the lower end of Thai experiences, and this is our favorite takeout cuisine, we've tried many places in Denver and beyond. Ginger chicken stir fry was actually decent, although the sauce was thicker than should be, and ginger was cut way too thick, almost thin french fry size. That's not pleasant to bite down on. Thai fried rice was pretty terrible. There was so much garlic in the dish, that we couldn't taste anything else and threw most of the dish out. Thai fried rice should be pretty mild flavored, with basil, this was ALL garlic in your face. Pretty far off in my opinion. Not likely to return based on our experience, but in fairness maybe Pho is better. I kinda question the combination of Thai and Vietnamese cuisines, is either one done well? read more

No water was given to my table for another 20 minutes. When I informed them that I was ready for water and to order, they said 1 minute and took forever to get here. Reviews has to be fake!!! I don't even know what to say about the food. Food is not authentic. I had the pho and it was not good. Had a funky taste. Absolutely do not order the vermicelli bowl. I'm not even sure what type of sauce they use in it. It was thick and after mixing it up in the noodles, it looked gooey. Almost spaghetti like or french dressing? No fish sauce in any sauce. But it was so so gross. Eggrolls gross. It was nothing close to authentic. The most authentic item was the noodles used in pho and in the vermicelli bowl. Bottom line up front: it was a disappointing experience. This establishment is right next to Estes Park Post Office. There is a 3-hr parking lot, so you should be able to find some parking space. It's not really too much to look at from the parking lot, but inside is pleasantly charming. Our server was friendly and very pleasant. That's where my positive comments end. Actually, it was a split decision between my spouse and me. She somewhat enjoyed her Pad Thai. It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst, either. I didn't like my Beef Pho. The broth was watery lacking rich flavor I look for Pho broth. Beef was tough (I think it was pre-cooked and flavorless) and lacked the fresh medium-rare round I usually have. I read the generous serving portion in other reviews, but both Pad Thai and Pho were regular to small portion for the price, I thought. I don't have to go back to this place in Estes Park. It was a cold and rainy day in Estes Park so naturally we wanted something spicy to warm us up. If you choose to use GPS to find this place whilst walking around the shops, it will lead you down the wrong street. Do not go down Moraine, it's on Riverwalk (River-something). The server was friendly but didn't keep up with the water refills. We ordered the fresh spring rolls which were ok. They weren't packed very tight so all the filling fell out when you took a bite. I ordered the panang curry with chicken and it was again, just ok. There weren't any veggies in the curry as I've had at other Thai restaurants. I would have liked some bell peppers or carrots. My mom ordered the pineapple fried rice and I thought it was delicious. It was much better than my panang. The only issue we had with it was the menu said it included chicken and shrimp in the same order and was only served with chicken. It wasn't bad. It wasn't amazing. It was ok.
