Food is good but owner is AWFUL!!! The owner, Denise, wouldn't allow us to sit 5 at a table of 6 even though our family member was only 15 minutes away. So upon our family member arriving, he asked the owner, Denise, if he could order at the bar and sit with his family at our table that has 6 seats. Her response, "I've told them more than once that you can't add another person once they've ordered." She and he unfortunately exchanged some words over it. But then when she comes and explains it to us, she is extremely disrespectful and rude. When I told her that she should really try to keep customers happy and serve them, she went on to say, "I don't care. I'm the owner and I don't care what you think or what you write for a review." I will NEVER come back here and would encourage you all to never support this awful woman who doesn't care about her customers! Thanks for ruining our in laws anniversary Denise! Loved this place! I had the chicken parmesan, and my GF had the veggie lasagne. Both were outstanding! We also had good caesar salads to start, and the bread with garlic dipping oil was delicious. (If you love garlic, it's amazing. If you don't love garlic, what's wrong with you?) The service was friendly and prompt, and you're only a couple blocks from the pier. The only downside for us was the heat. They have no A/C, and we had dinner during an unusual heat wave. Fantastic food though! read more

Look, I get it. You were slightly busy. But I have never felt so dismissed while trying to grab a bite at a bar in quite some time. I sat down excited to grab a pizza and some wine. I was even fine with waiting a while to even be greeted. I ordered a glass of wine that I never received and when I said I wanted a pizza I was asked in a rude manner if I was getting my pizza to go. We've traveled a great deal in our lifetime and this is the best Itallian restaurant ever! We were here in November of 2021 and we came back March of 2022 just so we could enjopy another fabulous dinner here. The owner and the staff are so friendy and quick with service. My favorite place to eat when visiting Cayucos! I like it so much that I typically try to fit in into the dinner schedule twice! The dining room is fairly small and can get rather busy, which slows down service, so be sure to make a reservation and budget adequate time to hang out and enjoy your meal. I've visited Cafe Della Via on multiple occasions and with groups of people and no one has had anything but positive things to say about the food. Though I can't seem to tear myself away from my all-time favorite menu item (Garlic Shrimp with Creamy Risotto), friends and family members have all had positive things to say about the lasagna, chicken parmesan (it is seriously enormous!!), eggplant parmesan, pizza, etc. The wine list is huge. Ask for wine recommendations; staff is really knowledgeable about wine. Here's the big tip...try the bread pudding. It doesn't matter if you don't like bread pudding (I said that too, it turns out I just hadn't had the right one yet), you won't regret it! Personally, I can't wait to go back! read more

This is my favorite restaurant in Cayucos. The food has been wonderful and the service friendly each time we have dined here. For our most recent visit, my husband and I split the Mediterranean Cucumber Salad, which was fresh and delicious. Cucumbers, feta cheese, Roma tomatoes, black olives, red onion, bell peppers, basil and mint in an olive oil and lemon juice dressing. Very refreshing. And more than enough for two to split. For dinner, we split the Shrimp Risotto, which was also very delicious. There is a split fee charge, but well worth it for two beautiful plates of food. Our server recommended a steel-aged Chardonnay, which paired wonderfully with both the salad and the risotto. This restaurant does get busy, so it is best to make reservations, especially on weekends. read more

Wow. I had the Pasta Del Mare which has shrimp and clams tossed with bell peppers, onions, spinach, zucchini, garlic and capers in a light white wine and chopped clam sauce on linguini. The flavor was outstanding and the amount of clams was generous. The last Italian restaurant that I went to was bland. This was outstanding. They don't skimp on anything. My date had the garlic shrimp with creamy polenta. Normally it comes with risotto, but my date asked for their polenta. It was the smoothest, creamiest polenta I have had. (yes, we trade bites.) The dish has shrimp sautéed in garlic, white wine, butter, olive oil and a hint of cayenne pepper served with our creamy risotto and seasonal vegetables. Both of us were impressed with our meal. This is better than our local favorite Italian restaurant back home. The wine selection is great and we were able to eat outside on a beautiful evening. This is a small little place next to the pier. It is only open three-four hours per day, so plan accordingly. read more

The coffee house is part of a small Italian restaurant. They offer teas and coffee drinks, also several brews of hot coffee in thermos pumped containers. There is plenty of seating inside. I came for the coffee only. Honestly, I was not impressed with their coffee. It was thin and lacked body, even though it said bold. It was also rather acidic. Not at all my favorite. And the pastry offerings were nearly gone for being still early in the day. I will keep looking for that elusive great cup of Joe. read more

They don't add noodles until later so I could have the minestrone. They even brought me a sample to try (without my asking). This place was recommended to us by the waitress at another restaurant in town, when we asked where we could get good espresso in the morning. She said there are other coffeehouses in town, but this is the one that knows how and why people want espresso (instead of coffee). We tried it, and boy was she right! Very friendly help, and the fussier coffee fans in the household were very satisfied with the product. We got take-out, but it's a cute spot to sit and sip. Not only price outstanding, but as my wife exclaimed, one of the freshest tasting she has ever tasted! I enjoyed the veal sambultico ...scrumptious indeed! And finally, dessert...crepes with nutella will always leave me with a smile on my face!
