I really loved the baristas, they were incredibly kind and helped me with my decision on what I wanted to order. The one disappointing thing is that no pumpkin spice lattes are available! So the baristas gave me a cardamom and salted-caramel latte which was great, but not what I originally was looking for. But the seating and environment is great, and I love to come and study here! What's not to love? Great local coffee shop with friendly staff. Coffee game is on-point. I have had many many impressing lattes made by these friendly baristas. The space is cozy with a few little tables and as well as outdoor seating. Pastries are out of this world and made daily. When I worked close by we were always stocking up on muffins to impress clients at meetings. I've tried a few sandwiches all of which were delicious. You can pretty much always find something satisfying to pair with your coffee. I've noticed a lot of reviews note the "no attitude" and they're completely right. I was in Portland visiting family and stopped by this quaint coffee shop. The owner was great and attentive to my vegan requirements. They have quite the selection of cool drinks. I had a Milky Way latte with oat milk which was really yummy. The place has a cool neighborhood coffee shop vibe to it with artwork from local artists. Cafe Eleven has majorly improved the food options in this neighborhood (as much as I love Popeyes....). I go here mainly for lunch. They have an assortment of made to order bagel sandwiches and paninis. All ingredients are fresh and tasty. Cafe Eleven also has a few breakfast sandwiches under $5. The menu is much more extensive than it is listed online. They carry Steven Smith tea which is one of my favorites. All other products appear to be local including the coffee. I'm backing it! Run by a couple the place is like going to coffee and your friends cool house the cool house that is clean clean clean! I just stopped in for a coffee and even though they were closed dude said "come on in!". I had the iced coffee it's from a local roaster that is "bike powered". It's good good good! Stop on by and chillllll it's hot out there! Oh and since I have a little more time I'd like to also add. The cafe is or was one side of a duplex so that definitely adds to the whole "over to a friends house for coffee" ambiance. I don't know about you but atmosphere is pretty important when going somewhere to have a cup. I was stuck in NE PDX for a day while my car spent time getting looked at. After casting about for a coffee place to settle in with my computer and homework, I stumbled across this little gem. It's housed in a cute little bungalow and shares the space with a bakery. When walking in, I was struck by how open it felt, and how beautiful the fixtures were. When I exclaimed at how delightful this place was, the ladies behind the counter said I'd made their day. The wi-fi is free, the setting beautiful, the rotating art fantastic, and the food and drink tasty. What more could one ask? This was my first cute coffee shop visit here in Portland and it was a wonderful introduction. The inside is very homey, small, and comfortable. The cashier and barista were very warm and welcoming. Don't even get me started on the tea; it's amazing! We ordered the Earl Grey and Silver Tipped Jasmine teas for here and they were so good. Preface: I rarely write reviews for anything but the feeling I got here gave me a strong impulse...The dark haired barista was snobby and made it seem as if bringing my coffee outside was an imposition when there was no one else in the place. I've lived in the neighborhood for a few months and bike by this place every day. Why I haven't stopped before is beyond me but I can guarantee I'll be stopping again. It's just a little building on the outside and doesn't look like much. Cute outdoor seating. But you get in and it's the most comfortable little coffee shop ever. It feels like you just walked into someone's kitchen though the back door and they have fresh muffins and hot coffee for you. I was greeted by super warm and smiley barista, Aga. The coffee wasn't rushed and was delicious. The croissant was baked next door at the bakery and it was heavenly. They have breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches too. Nothing looked super fancy but they were inexpensive and seems like the perfect choice if you don't want to wait in line for an hour at some SE brunch place on a Sunday. I recently moved into the neighborhood and saw Cafe Eleven passing by. Based solely on the outside (which really isn't bad at all) I was a bit hesitant about going in, and since Woodlawn Coffee and Pastry is just down the street from me, I didn't feel the need to check Cafe Eleven out. My friend suggested we go there after our run yesterday with our three children and boy an I ever glad we did! I love this place. The inside is cute and very comfortable. They have 5 tables and a couch, along with outdoor seating. They have handmade goods from local artists, toys for kids, books to look at and lots of great natural light. I ordered a cup of coffee and a gluten free morning glory muffin and a zuchini muffin. The coffee was great and the muffins were delicious. The two working were very friendly just the whole feel of the place was great. Even though Woodlawn Coffee and Pastry is closer, I would definitely come back to Cafe Eleven for sure. I love the atmosphere and the selection they offer. I am so glad we went as I would hate to have missed out on this wonderful place. read more

If you can get an inside seat (8-10) it's quiet and comfy. I preferred the seat ouside in the nice cool weather to watch the people and cars pass by. I just discovered this place about three weeks ago. I've lived about three blocks away for months. The food is amazing. I often get a breakfast sandwich with egg, goat cheese and vegan sausage on their biscuit. I'm drilling thinking about it. We'd been happy customers ever since the old duplex was renovated years ago and became Florio Bakery, and have seen the various changes in ownership to be really positive, from Aga & Sylvia to Greg & Monica. However under the new ownership, we've seen a different attitude and a less than positive vibe when one walks in. The owner clearly does not want to be there, and never asked for any suggestions from customers before he changed the menu to all vegetarian (and didn't replace the meat items with other options). No more lox and cream cheese bagel, no more turkey melt, no more ham and cheese croissant sandwich. While we appreciate a good vegetarian cafe (my wife has ordered veggie croissants from Greg and they were really delicious), the veggie sandwiches now are tasteless - maybe 3 veggies on it and nothing else - and there are few other options. As we live nearby and this was always our go-to cafe for both ourselves and my wife's business meetings, after multiple tries, we've found there to be a frequent lack of baked goods available (even when the shop opens - I went there near opening multiple times and there were only bits and pieces from the day before, and the longtime staff there were clearly embarrassed because it never was like this before), the coffee drinks to be really poor, and the owner claiming to be interested in community relationships but acting uninterested when you introduce yourself and getting defensive when you provide suggestions (rather than appreciating feedback from people who actually know the community and who have run these types of businesses in the past). The owner is not genuine and we're not the only neighbors who've noticed the quick downhill slide in service & quality. Side note - the revamped website says that the cafe is "near the Columbia River" (not true, it's on MLK & Rosa Parks, not exactly at the river's edge) and that it's "in close proximity to the airport" (it's actually a 20-30 minute drive from here) and boasts that they "even remember your order" (yikes - isn't that one's job at any cafe?). We'd heard from various people associated with the cafe that when he bought the shop he said that he just "wanted to own a coffee shop" and didn't actually want to work there (nor did he have experience as a barista or similar) - and that it actually took Greg convincing him that no, you actually need to be present if you run this type of business. Who wants to own a cafe and not be there? SO many people have a dream of owning their own little cafe, it's a shame when someone comes into the neighborhood and just wants to make money from it. Based on the experiences we've had and number of times we've walked out because there is hardly any food, poor coffee, disengaged staff and now a very minimal menu? There's really no reason, sadly, to return to this place that we used to adore and spend a LOT of our hard-earned money at. FOLLOW UP: as a response to the note the owner left, it is NOT true that he did not change the menu, as it was absolutely reduced from the prior offerings, and he even told my friend that he eliminated meat from the menu. Also, I have no idea what he's talking about with a "separate website" as this is the only review I've done on this place. Others in our neighborhood have mentioned the lack of quality and service, and reading the latest review that shows he is charging someone 50 cents just to have spinach on their breakfast bagel and a buck fifty for avocado? Wow. Nickel and diming is not the way to retain customers. But then again as seen in the owner's responses to negative feedback, it's evident there's not an interest in getting using feedback to improve. Bummer. read more

I ordered the orange juice. I then watched the man proceed to make it from my seat. He cut an orange in half, and then one half fell onto the dirty kitchen floor where his feet were standing. The exposed side of the orange was touching the floor. He picked it up and then proceeded to squeeze the orange into the glass. Then he served me my orange juice.
