I really hate to leave a negative review but my visits to Cafe Eleven today was not a great one. Came in because of the vegan options and ended up with the worst $5 coffee I've had in Portland. I was super pleased when I did order a bagel with vegan bacon. The bacon was so real I had to double check it wasn't real meat. But when I did I found two hairs in the sandwich-another wasted $5. As much as I thank the place for having options for all I just don't think I'll be back...or will recommend anyone to spend their money here. read more

My daughter and I will often meet for coffee before work and one thing we both enjoy is to try to explore and find somewhere new to try. Portland is so full of wonderful suprises and yet we often get into a grove an return time and a gain to our old haunts. But today we stepped into Cafe 11, a well appointed cafe, sparkeling, and light filled set inside what looks as though it was a neighborhood duplex converted into two businesses. From the moment we came in we felt welcme and had an opportunity to chat with the owner who when he found out I prefered Glutten free bread offered a sample of two brands. I was delighted with one that was a rye style and ordered the Caprice plus a cappiciono with Oat milk- never missed the wheat or dairy! The only thing was that he seemed to move a bit slow or perhaps I was simply ravished! Butin the end it was everybit worth the wait- I will return soon. read more

I am a vegan and this place was HEAVEN. I only stopped by today because the coffee shop was near where my boyfriend wanted to grab food, while I was craving an iced coffee and a bagel sandwich. He found it on yelp and took me in and omg. First of all they have sweets from Shoofly Bakery! A ton of them!!! I will definitely be coming back and getting a cinnamon roll with my coffee next time I want something sweet! They also have an entire vegan sandwich with field roast and vegan cheese and all sorts of yumminess for only $7. I opted for a veggie bagel sandwich with tofutti cream cheese and was sooooooo pleased with what I was served. Only $6 for a big portion! They also had lots of GF options. Next. The coffee. I am a HUGE coffee drinker and I have never been more impressed by a simple iced latte. I ordered it with oat milk (which was only 25¢ extra!!) and it was luscious and creamy AND STRONG. I didn't realize that I've been missing out on strong, high quality coffee in my lattes this badly until I ordered this iced oat milk hazelnut latte today. OMG. I am so glad that this place is only a 2 min drive from my boyfriend's place--it ruins all of the other coffee places in the area for me. I can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into serving their customers high quality items. Also, the space was so cute, I can't wait to bring some books here to read. It was a bit hot inside, but luckily fall is coming up so I'm going to swing by all the time. There was plenty of seating and they feature artwork from local artists! They also have a bookshelf stocked with books and games, as well as a super clean restroom. I basically live in coffee shops during the school year and honestly I have never been more happy about discovering a new place. Super nice staff. Clean, welcoming space. Love it. Love the vibe, the people and most importantly, the coffee. Started our Saturday morning here with an iced, soy, lavender latte. The lavender wasn't too sweet and provided just enough flavor to enhance the coffee. It's a pretty awesome spot too and the food menu is impressive. They seem to cater to gluten allergies and preferences and have a large selection of pastries. I have a feeling we will be regulars at this coffee shop. Really cute cafe. A little bit hard to find because of being behind a huge gated fence, but they have a sign directing you around the corner. It would be a great little coffee shop to sit and get work done as it was super quiet. We got a few pressed sandwiches which were good. Very simple menu when it comes to food. Discovered this joint this morning when driving down Alberta trying to find an empty study spot (don't yelp and drive!!) and have been absolutely delighted with our diversion to Rosa Parks Way!! Located in a renovated house, my friend and I fell in love as soon as we walked in! The girl working the counter said it had been surprisingly slow as we fired question after question about the locale and the locals. Apparently run by regulars, this petite paradise is clean, cozy and comfortable. My friend and I have been sitting here (alone!) for the past three hours with only people coming in and out for their orders! I can see how this place could get a little cramped when it's busy, but I will definitely be returning here for the quiet music, great decor/lighting/service and the EXCELLENT coffee!!! read more

I didn't think the new owners could ever replace the original sisters who started it, but they've done a stellar job. Cute little cafe with a big variety of teas and coffees. Pastry selection is small like most cafes.. My hubby and I got a pb&j panini and a bacon,egg and cheese kaiser roll. The pb&j panini was absolutely delicious. The kaiser roll tasted mostly the same.. the cheese and bacon were virtually tasteless, but the kaiser roll was pressed with the panini press and didn't get soggy. For drinks I got a house coffee and hubby got a sassafras iced tea. The coffee was good, tasted like Starbucks' Pikes Place, in my opinon. Sassafras tea ased kinda like root beer. So, yes, this place is incredible. Great coffee from a bicycle powered, Feminist roaster (Trail Head- how very portland ;) ), all women run, fair trade coffee farms that make crazily delicious coffees. Awesome, decadent pastries fresh baked at the bakery right next door (The scones are so amazing that they sell out early) Numerous options for any dietary restrictions. Breakfast and Lunch options. Cozy inside with free wi-fi, rotating art collections, rain shielded front porch seating with blankets. The two sisters who run/own the place are extraordinarily nice, friendly, and professional. I love this place, HOWEVER, I have one small peeve. I am a sucker for a good breakfast sandwich. i love breakfast sandwiches- and with all the cheese options and bread options (Croissant, roll, bagel, etc.) I was super excited to order a breakfast sandwich from Cafe Eleven- Since their other products are such high quality I was shocked when I got a breakfast sandwich with a microwaved egg!!!! Not only is this a cardinal sin in the arena of breakfast sandwiches as it produces a blob of uniformly textured, soggy egg, but there is no crisping, no yolk consistency, and it turns the egg a very unappetizing greenish-grey color. How any food establishment can use a microwave blows my mind!! I understand that there is limited space in a cafe but a small gas powered camping stove with a single pan would solve this issue, elevate the breakfast sandwich to where it should be, and it would catapult the place to 5 stars hands down IMO :) read more

I love this place! The new owners are so inviting and friendly. It definitely feels like a true neighborhood establishment, one where you get genuine service and people know your name. It is very cozy, has great coffee and bagel sandwiches, and speedy wi-fi. This is the kind of place you could just chill and read a book, make a new friend, or get some work done on your laptop. We miss the praline cookies, but they do have good chocolate chip, oatmeal and other pastries to choose from.
