Great chips and salsa. Portion size was just right for my family. Tacos were a bit wetter than I expected, though. Prices align with what I would expect for a hotel/conference center (i.e., somewhat captive audience).

When I arrived there weren't many people there but it filled up fast. Food was served quickly and hot and was very good! Michelada's were great as well! Jordan was my server and was attentive and made great suggestions. Would definitely recommend!

If there is no convection center then this place would have closed right away. Floating crowd and easy access is only the reason why this place is still sustaining. Poor quality food. The guacamole was salty and there were no tortillas served with it. The complimentary nachos were also smelly. Please take care of the food quality when you are serving a plate for $18.. was super hungry so just had finished the rice.. most guest plates were picked up with lots of food unfinished which explains the quality of food they serve.

Service was good Food below par...the guacamole was AWFUL and so were the refried beans. The chicken fajitas had a charred taste and it was a little dry. My friend enjoyed the pollo monterrey though. The only item I would recommend is the queso fundido, which was very good. The complimentary chios and salsa were good as well - the chips were warm and the salsa had just a touch of heat (between mild and medium, closer to mild). Ambiance was nice, but they do need to reupholster some of the booth seats, mine had tears/missing fabric.

The restaurant is very cute right across from the Omni valet entrance. The food was good, we didn't know what to expect because of the mixed reviews. When we got there, there was only one other table occupied, so we thought our service would be good, however we didn't get lucky there. We had to constantly look for our server, for water refills, to order, for our check...pretty much for everything. Service was a disappointment, but the food was good, which is why I am giving them 4 stars.

Stoped in here for an early dinner. Hopeful for a great Mexican expeienrce, really enjoyed the openness of this space, surrounded by windows and natural light. We got there and it was basically empty, other than 2 tables. It was clearly slow with waiters waiting around, so I would have expected better service. The waiter never took a drink order, only came to ask what we'd want for food, and never returned to check up on us. The menu was rather limited, only offering a few options in each category, not a great selection overall. The food was ok, but rather overpriced for basic Mexican food. Probably wouldn't return, I'd try to find another spot to check out next time

Me man Ryan the bartender makes every visit here amazing and memorable. I came dressed as a iguana my last time and he laughed joked and took care of us. Drinks are good, people are better. Thanks Ryan for making every visit memorable.

In Dallas for a conference at Kay Bailey. There's a parking garage in walking distance, but they are across from the Omni. Service was good. My server was prompt and attentive, even when it was crowded. It's not a big restaurant. I ordered the fajitas and they did not disappoint. The gauc is also very tasty and well seasoned. If you are staying at the Omni or any nearby hotel, I recommend. They open at 11am so if there is a large convention, I suggest getting there right at that time.

Had some tasty drinks here! Great location by the Omni with a separate parking garage which is super needed downtown. The restaurant will validate parking. You can't go wrong with the queso fundito!

This texmex place is not bad. I went here on a late night and had some good service. One of the waiters was really weird with us, but other than that good service. The food itself is pretty good. The tacos I think are there best thing. They have a good fried shell, like an authentic taco should be. Enchiladas are kind of small for my liking, but still tasty. Salsa is pretty dang good! I had several bowls of that alone.

Churros are fantastic! Enough to share for sure! Started with dessert because it was so delicious! LOL! They can leave off the red stuff next time; though I don't recall it have any flavor. Everyone enjoyed it & said they'd have to come back later when they could really enjoy it without having to rush back to the conference lol. Quick service, especially at lunch which is important when you're running to get back to a conference. Sitting at the bar helps too, but I came another day with some colleagues and we were seated at a booth and received fast service. The chips & salsa, really the salsa, is amazing! It tastes like they roast the tomatoes or peppers because you get a hint of it with a very balanced salsa. The 1st day I had it , it was mild. The 2nd day it was spicier. Everyone enjoyed the salsa, even the spicier version. They were impressed with their meals also. I don't have pictures but the nachos are different in that there are larger chips with the ingredients on each chip; maybe 6. It's a large portion. Shrimp fajitas were a hit & 2 people ordered the chicken tacos and liked it. Carne asada was good; wasn't expecting the red sauce on top but it didn't take away from it. It's not spicy or anything. The rice & black refried beans were good. The beans had a tad too much salt but pairing it with the rice evened it out. The 2nd visit I had the brisket enchiladas and was disappointed that there was way more cheese covering them than needed; it made it hard to try taste the brisket. They are also small, a little bigger than a taquito; ok maybe 2 fingers width, maybe... Surprisingly good food & quick service near the convention center that's not too heavy on the pockets. I'd return for sure. Enjoy!

Although I didn't grab a picture of my food, I did grab a picture of the ice cream!! This place was amazing!! Authentic & fresh! Every staff member was friendly & kind! If you're second guessing going here, don't!!!

We were there to eat so if they were going to wine and dine us in that amount of time, we were there for it!! Everything was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks and we are so glad we found this location and made it happen! I was looking forward to dinner here the entire day and it was worth it!! We had the queso blanco...it's got a kick...worth it! My wagyu fajitas were perfectly cooked medium rare and soooo flavorful!! I was my dessert in my pjs back at the hotel...the sopapilla cheesecake and ice cream held up perfectly and was everything I wanted it to be!! It's a dark atmosphere in the bar area, but the vibes were so cool. It wasn't too loud to where people were having to scream to converse...but it was not intimate where you could talk across the table softly with the other person hearing. A few important notes though: this place is SUPER loud, especially upstairs, so if you are trying to take your older parents somewhere for a nice dinner where you can actually catch up and have a conversation, this might not be the spot. Also, avoid the upstairs dining room if anyone has mobility issues. The stairs are a little sketchy in that dark space because you basically have to TRUST there is another stair step in front of you even though you can't see it. And a heads up, do not wander into the wrong bathroom upstairs like my husband did because the "men's" and "ladies" signs upstairs are also nearly impossible to read in the dark! But honestly, those are really my only complaints... The service and food were both very good. We had a couple of ordering fumbles. We got the regular queso, and then immediately watched another table get the tableside flaming queso and we were seriously bummed. Like, really bummed. That is definitely what I will be ordering next time. The chips and smoky salsa were excellent!! - and I always appreciate when everyone gets their own little portion of salsa so everyone can double dip without feeling like a heathen. I ordered the wagyu fajitas (the half portion), and it was still easily enough food for two people. I will say the meat was more like a filet mignon texture and less like the flavorful fajita meat I was expecting. My friend's pork fajitas were actually much better and had more flavor. When the manager stopped by to check on us, I had to announce my own birthday because apparently my friends were not going to help me out with that (some friends, huh?). They brought out a complimentary sopapilla cheesecake with a candle, which was a very nice touch. All in all, I loved the place and totally understand the hype. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. There is valet parking, but we found easy parking across the street. I cannot wait to come back and try that flaming queso!

Chris our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time walking us through the menu and explaining what made El Carlos Elegante so special. The drinks were perfect. My wife loved her Desert Flor while I thoroughly enjoyed my Modelo Micheleda. Her Surf and Turf one hitter was exceptional. I have to say my Crab Cake was just ok. It tasted a little pasty and very heavy on the bread. The Pulpo was absolutely amazing. Perfect texture and the sauce it was served almost had me licking the plate. The El Machete was incredible from its presentation, to the freshness of the corn tortilla, to the quality of the meat inside. Definitely recommend this. We really liked our Okra + Shishito course, we just wished it had more okra in it. The two things I loved about the Al Pastor was of course the sauce it was served on but the fact that I got to enjoy it like a steak. It was served sliced on a bias like flank steak. Typically Al Pastor is finely chopped and served in tacos and burritos, so this was a different eating experience for me. And of course it was delicious as well. It was glorious and bountiful--there was ample dressing, cheese, and other ingredients I'm forgetting that made it unique. Unfortunately, during our second visit, the Caesar salad was significantly different. I think they used the same dressing, but there was very little of it. There was nearly no cheese and the other ingredients were similarly sparse. It was still good, but it in no way was the greatest I'd ever tried. I hope that this was a 1-off experience, as it truly was the best. I will report back next time. Service was great both times- they were very careful about my Cilantro request (none) and even though they gladly prepared dishes without it, they also made a list of things that already had none by default. Salmon ceviche, Pork al pastor, Carne asada, and the machete were also very good. The machete is a specialty- it had the house made masa and fillings can vary.
