I chose cafe l'amore because it my dads favorite restaurant! My dad is 98 and they couldn't be more accommodating with him and his wheelchair we use to scuffle him about. The valet met us and helped me With the wheelchair and kept the spot open right in front of the restaurant. The food was delicious and reasonable. I kept saying why don't we come here more often! It's taken me 4 years to get the courage to share this because it's a local business and I felt bad because the owners are so nice but I finally found my voice....If there's one thing that keeps me from returning it's the "bug" which shall remain nameless. I would want to know the truth before visiting an establishment which is why I always read each review before dining somewhere or staying a my a hotel so please forgive my delay in transparency. Let me preface this by saying this used to be our favorite go to Italian joint for parties and deliveries...their cold&hot antipast are the real deal. One time there was a piece of white plastic in the chicken parm...my Hub bit into it but hey we understand it happens...it probably flew off a white bucket when they flung open a lid....no one is perfect but it was my hubs fav chicken parm and he's picky!!! So the night of our 5 year wedding anniversary I ordered one of my go to dishes...the porchini ravioli in the brown sauce for delivery. I got halfway through my delicious meal and saw what I thought was a long brown hair...upon further examination I could not believe my eyes! It was the antenna of a roach that had been disguised as a mushroom sautéed in the brown sauce. After my crying fit, hysteria, gagging and panic attack we called the restaurant to explain. Unfortunately the owner denied this possibility from happening (essentially calling me a liar) and offered a credit for our next order which ummm there will NEVER be. The right thing to do would have been to return to my house with a new fresh cooked dish or something completely different to try to save us as customers. And to verify the concern because seeing is believing and they didn't believe me. Unfortunately, due to the lack of concern and this traumatic experience this local favorite bit the dust. My husband thinks it was it possibly in the dry mushrooms and when the cook rehydrated them unfortunately the cook didn't notice that there was extra protein hidden inside. Or maybe they were from another country where this is considered a delicacy? Anyway, as a result, I have never eaten a thing from this restaurant nor strip mall since. (It's not like these critters role alone.) I have a picture but it gave me the creeps so I couldn't bring myself to share it publicly when it first happened but I have dug it up so you can see...the proof is in the pudding. Local restaurant. The good part about it is the food. The bad is the wait. Since it's a good restaurant in the center of town it is alway busy. Hard to fault them for being successful but there's a small parking lot and not much room to wait inside if the weather is rough. What a wonderful restaurant. The owners Michael and Mark come out and greet you and also walk thru the restaurant and say hello and check on how we liked the food. You feel treated like family and the waiter and waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. Nancy is great and will come up and say hello and ask about your family every time. She is a great person to get to know. All the employees I know have been there since we have been going for over 10 years now. Even one of the bus boys have been there that long. Food is always fabulous and we never had a bad experience. Food has always been exceptional. We have even thrown small parties, christenings, confirmation party and birthday parties at Cafe and the food and service was great. The food and service here was terrific and unexpected. We had planned on takeout for the road, but the owner encouraged us to stay and made dinner very quickly for three of us right before closing. We had 3 vegetarians and a GF girl in our party and they were all very graciously accommodated with appetizing meals that suited their individual meals. When we arrived, I complimented Mark on a pizza that my husband and I order whenever we see it on the Specials menu; Mark then made one for me to take home! Cafe L'Amore is our favorite, go-to restaurant. Great food. Reasonable prices, and Bring Your Own! Friendly owner and staff, and we usually go home with a doggy bag or two. They have their regular menu, as well as daily specials. I can't think of one dish we that have been disappointed with. The Brick oven pizzas are very good too. (The brick oven is possibly wood burning?). The pizzas are not your typical red sauce pizzas that you can get at any pizzeria, they are more unique with quality ingredients. We frequently had dinner inside the restaurant prior to Covid restrictions, but are still a little shy about eating in ANY restaurants for now, so we have been ordering take-out for the past year and a half or so. Take out is the same great food. Try them and you won't be disappointed. And don't forget to bring your own wine! The ONLY drawback, if there is one, is the parking. However, they do provide free valet parking when they are busy. It's not a big issue, but you should be aware if you are a first timer. read more
