I really wanted to like this place but here's what went down... We stood at the front of the host stand and two employees were chatting it up. It took a bit before we were acknowledged and then seated at a table. Out of all the big empty tables available, we were seated at a small round two seater table (with two bags in tow) barely big enough to fit the plates of food on. Meanwhile, multiple people who came in after us, some just single occupants, got seated in booths. After sitting for what seemed to be ~10min, our server came and took our order...didn't check in on us during the meal, didn't refill our water, and didn't provide us with the check until we went up to the front and asked for it. Amazing food, logistics problems, waited for a super long time. We had the Landwer breakfast for 2 - fresh, diverse flavors. The eggplant spread was especially great. Labneh was wonderful, and yogurt nice and thick. The bread warm and went well with everything. The downside was the logistics. This location is understaffed. The owner tried hiring more staff, but the quality of staff was uneven. After waited for a long time and ignored by a couple of staff, finally Camille, the most efficient server came to the rescue. Overall, good food, hopefully the restaurant will work out its staffing problems. read more

We waited a while for a host to greet us and after we were seated, the server didn't take our order for about 10 minutes and that's the last we saw of him. One good thing was the food came out quickly but no one checked on us throughout the meal and we just paid online and left. I am a fist time visitor here to this restaurant and it was based upon a local recommendation. When we arrived the place was busy and you could tell everyone was working very hard. It also has a lovely ambiance and decor that was very appealing. Now this is where it didn't go so well. We sat at a table for at least 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging us, no water service even though many tables around us received their customary water jug with glasses after we had been sat down. We all waited patiently and noticed people walking in or being sat after us were getting service and their orders were being taken and eventually their food arrived well before ours because we haven't had one visit from any server at this point. This was while we watched three other tables who came in after us get their water, orders were taken and food was delivered? I have to say it was the strangest thing I've never felt more invisible and I was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable about it meaning it was odd and seemed obvious perhaps we were not being served for some particular reason? The food arrived and the fourth person had to wait for her meal. Now the really good part. The food was absolutely delicious and was worth the wait. I also loved the house hot tea with cinnamon stick, ginger etc... This isn't meant to be a bashing of the restaurant more of a notice for management to say hey we know things don't always work perfectly and we are by far reasonable people. Some of your staff seemed so very warm and friendly and you could tell most everyone was working really hard. A few however had a not so warm and fuzzy presence or look on their face and I'll leave it at that. In the end we did get to try the delicious pancakes as I asked a wonderful woman if we could order a small batch on the side. I believe she knew we had sat their for some time and she offered them to us to split at no charge. So my final thoughts and input to this place is the food is outstanding and many of the people their were working really hard. I just can't shake the feeling that for whatever reason we were ignored on purpose. We had to leave our table and go to the front desk to request the bill. I cannot comment on the quality of the food, although I am told that it is good. What I can comment on is the lack of service we experienced. We recently stayed at the Charles Mark Hotel, which was a positive experience. However, we went to the very uncrowded attached bar (which is part of Cafe Landwer) to have a beer and were not acknowledged at all. We left and came back a little later and had the same reception. The same dirty glasses were on the bar. There were employees present. I refused when my wife wanted to give it a third shot later on. We were going to try the restaurant for breakfast the next morning. When we approached the host stand, the woman was on the phone, and as soon as she hung up, she avoided making eye contact with us and walked away. That was it for us. The pleasant desk attendant at the hotel told us that the restaurant rents space from the hotel and has different management. That was not surprising, as there was such a marked difference in reception and friendliness between the employees of the two businesses. We were excited to try the Shakshuka here but sadly it didn't live up to the hype. I got the halloumi shakshuka which was disappointing. The flavor was bland and tasted like it was seasoned with only a little salt. We also got the mediterranean shakshuka which I didn't try, but my partner said it was okay. Both were composed mostly of large tomato chunks, and the halloumi shakshuka was very watery for some reason. They also came with your choice of bread, we got the pita and challah which were both great. The coffee was okay, about what you'd expect at Waffle House. Nothing fancy, but not particularly fresh either I'm not eager to come back, but I would avoid the shakshuka if I did. read more

We ordered two vanilla lattes and only one came out. I patiently waited 15 minutes to see if the second would come, but it didn't. I asked another server if she could check on it, but still no coffee came. When our food arrived, I asked the food runner if he could check on the coffee.
