Café Mio was everything I wanted it to be and took for surprise at how good it was! We asked the staff at Tuthilltown Distillery where we should grab lunch and they suggested we take the 5 minute drive to this café and I'm so glad they told us to come here! It's a really cute café with friendly staff and good, local, healthy, farm to table food. I loved the huge open kitchen, which you notice immediately upon entering the establishment. There were lots of bar stools setup at the open kitchen and about 10-15 tables in the whole café which was fairly busy for a Thursday at 2:30. We sat on a circular couch by the front window which was sunny and comfortable. Perfect. I started off with a glass of local wine and my boyfriend had some hot tea. The waitress was young, cute, super friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. I loved how most of the options were full of veggies and very healthy. I ordered their California veggie sandwich which was jam packed with lots of delicious and ripe vegetables. It came with a huge salad on the side too. I could barely eat half of my sandwich, so filling. My boyfriend ordered their portabella parmesan sandwich without the bread. He loved it too. Just about as pleasant an experience as one could ask for. Cafe Mio is new, but it's not shoving its 'newness' exuberantly down your throat like so many places do - there's a chilled confidence to this place which is thoroughly appealing. Sitting outside, to the side of the building, with an attractive view of the distant mountain (punctuated by the occasional skydiver), we ordered the falafel platter and a goat cheese & bacon burger, with fries. The platter was great, the falafel very earthy and spicy but cut perfectly by the tzatziki. The burger - always worth testing a seemingly 'fancy' place by ordering their burger - was quite something, a rectangular creation on a Portugese roll served with superb fries and a great little salad. Wonderful all round. Very agreeably priced, too - $24 for two entrees and two drinks. We were talking excitedly about returning to Cafe Mio before we'd finished eating. Nice job. read more

I am being generous and giving this place 4 stars. I came here for lunch and waited a looooong time for the food, but when it eventually came, it was good. I had the avocado frittata and my husband had the corn and cheddar omelette. Both were good, the side salad was good, and the side of fries was also good. I was prepared to give this place a 1-2 star review because of the long wait for service, but I was given a free dessert which was totally delicious (chocolate pecan pie) and a free GUS soda. The wait staff profusely apologized for the length of time it took the food to arrive, so I cannot really fault the restaurant for that. Mistakes happen. The omelette and frittata were 3 1/2 star quality. The dessert was 5 star quality. Hence the four stars! read more

I've been here 3x for breakfast so far, and this busy little gourment cafe has yet to disappoint me. The service is prompt and friendly and the inventive omelets are fantastic! The value is great, also. The prices are more elevated than your traditional diner-type breakfast venues, but the portions are very generous and you can't get this kind of quality, fresh, organic gourmet food in a diner, so each dish is clearly worth a couple of extra bucks. The last time I ate here with my hubby two weeks ago, he thoroughly enjoyed his huevos rancheros (so did I from the couple of bites he reluctantly allowed me to sample, lol) and I was in love with my spinach, mushroom and goat cheese omelet- YUMMY!!! And if you want to switch something up- NO problem! The staff is very gracious. I have been avoiding breads lately and didn't want to consume the advertised whole grain toast with my omelet. Instead, the waitress suggested a side of mesculin greens with a tatsy balsamic-vinagrette dressing. Wonderful! It made my dish even more healthier and the greens complimented my omelet fully. Everything tasted simply delectable! The waitress did make one error (which was probably not her fault), but she did the right thing by me- she comped us a dessert a la carte. I chose the apple tart to take home with us, which we happily consumed later on that day - WOW! What a mouth-watering, sinfully scrumptious little dessert! Cafe Mio' may need to expand soon. I think the most challenging thing here is deciding what to order because everything looks and is so delicious. It's the best breakfast restaurant in Hudson valley. But they don't open Mondays and Tuesdays and take long vacations. You need to check before you go if they open. My eggs, bacon, and toast were yummy but the potatos were under seasoned. Was a very average breakfast. Wow, talk about good luck/bad luck...the slightly narrow open hours kept me from happening into this amazing place before now.
