WOW!! New filipino silog place in downtown Gilroy! Ambiance is beautiful. The service and the staff are so very friendly. My husband loves their Longsilog. I got the Bangsilog and I loved it a lot. So happy to see they also have kids menu that pleased my young ones too---Mac &cheese, tenders, fries with banana ketchup and fruit cup (no photo) Also, their cappuccinos are delicious!! Went by today for lunch and now it's a Filipino restaurant with some American style sandwiches / fries etc as well . Ordered coffee to start and I was surprised to find out It wasn't very good. Turns out they're serving Folgers. The wife and I had a couple sandwiches , neither of which were very good. Mine was soggy. Hers was just bland . Onion rings were heavy and greasy. The gallery etc is nice and clean , and the service is good ...the prices are not high. But if you're looking for a high quality lunch, best look elsewhere. What a delightful little treasure! They have great coffee in a nicely curated spot. I love all the local artists displays, and they have adorable gift items to peruse and purchase. HUGE Bonus- they pay their employees a livable wage, as opposed to what many places where servers rely on tips do (look it up- some places are horrific). That in itself tells me the owners care about their people, and is reason enough to keep me coming back. It's an absolute bonus that the service and people and product are great, as well! read more

I hate to leave a bad review because the place is so charming, but I overall had an underwhelming experience. To start with the positives: it's attached to a little art gallery so the vibes are nice and I LOVE that they have community sketchbooks that you can draw in while you wait. I also love that they had filipino menu items. Staff were nice, but unfortunately.. The cons: they were understaffed so one person was taking orders and also making drinks, while it seemed like one person was doing food in the back. I ordered a mimosa and the tosilog. I don't mind waiting but it took about 45 minutes to get our food, which looked delicious but was pretty bland. No flavor on the eggs, the fried rice was cooked nicely but again could use more flavor. They also forgot about the mimosa so we had to go up and ask for them for it almost an hour after we ordered. The mimosa tasted like 95% orange juice so not worth the wait but I guess worth the $7. I love small places like this so I hope they can improve on the food and service. read more

Great new place in downtown Gilroy. I love the vibe inside and the employees are super friendly. We ordered the matcha waffle ($15) and the cucumber tomato feta salad ($13). Plus two iced chai lattes ($7 each). Everything tasted great and fresh and we all enjoyed our lunch there. One less star as it's a bit pricey for what we got but I know everything is going up in price everywhere these days. Good tasty food and friendly servers. I only have one minor observation to share. I Reserved on line for 5. Finally the day has come and when we arrived at Motif we expected to be sat down and take our orders from our table since the menu were already placed on our table. One of the server told us that we need to order at the cashier, and I have to say that we did see " order here " sign, and since this was our first time at motif we followed the instructions got up from our table and ordered at the cashier. This is no problem what's so ever. Few moments later more people started coming in and picked an empty table and sat down across from our table. Disappointing Experience from Start to Finish! I really wanted to like this place--heard some buzz about it a few months ago and decided to give it a few tries. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a while. First off, the service was painfully slow. We waited nearly 20 minutes just to get water, and when the waitress came to take our order, the server seemed uninterested and indifferent, like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. When the food arrived (another long wait) given the fact we were the only two customers in the restaurant, it was wildly inconsistent. My pancakes were cold and potatoes were undercooked and under-seasoned. The last two times we have come here, the potatoes are always made in a different style (inconsistency in my opinion.) The pancakes have always came with eggs and an additional side, today we didn't even receive eggs. Either the staff doesn't know the menu or the menu is incorrectly labeled but regardless, the food has always been inconsistent when I have came, especially today. To top it off, our server disappeared for a majority of the time we were there. Never came to check on us, or ask if we needed anything. No apology, no acknowledgment. Well this was an experience! The decor is amazing but I didn't like much else. I decided I wanted a simple sandwich and glass of wine for lunch. It is necessary to order at the counter here. So I ordered a BLT adding avocado and asked what was available for white wine. There were no wines listed on the menu but the server thought they had Sauv Blanc and Chardonnay. I preferred Chardonnay, so that's what I ordered. He asked for payment...$43! Yikes! So apparently this was an upscale wine, not the normal house wine you typically receive when ordering by the glass. I find my seat ... an incredibly uncomfortable chair BTW and sip the wine. The sandwich arrives, the bread is heavily toasted and the crust is not easily bitten through. The bacon was thick and cooked to death... much more like very tough shoe leather. I ended up taking the bacon off the sandwich. Who knew you could ruin bacon? There was very little avocado and certainly not worth the $2 up charge. All-in-all, absolutely the worst BLT I have ever had. I definitely will not darken their door again. read more

Im a local, this is my 1st time here and I get a glass of wine which is 16.95 and its Santa Cruz brand. I pay 25 bucks out the door for a mocha and glass which I dont mind, however to serve Santa cruz wine at 17bucks a glass ia ridiculous. I should have just went to westside grill, bowling alley or the Italian joint down the road. Smallest glass ever on top of it. Unfortunate. If your going to charge 17 a glass I would expect something more higher end than that and or fill it up. Cute decor inside. read more

Has a potential and for a change - it's not same starbucks .. service is great , nice ppl around.. no tip culture , prices are reasonable BUT!! Tried to give this place a shot. Young lady at the register taking orders was pleasant and nice. That's where the positive ends (in my experience). Sunday morning, not too busy (I thought) , plenty of seating available. Ordered French press and cafe latte coffees and two muffins. Got the muffins and waited for coffee. After 5 minutes, I gave the muffins a try ...Muffins were wet in the middle as they were not fully baked. Got a refund for the muffins and asked for status on the coffee. Was told there were 2 orders ahead. There is one person making the coffee ...wearing dark sunglasses. After a while, requested a refund on the whole order. Service is too slow and food wasn't cooked through. Too much "coolness" for me . The decor is "cool" , wearing sunglasses to make coffee is "cool", seating arrangement is "cool", vibe is wannabe "cool". Being "cool" is not "cool" ... service, promptness, attention to food quality, thoroughness ... those are the items to focus on , instead of trying to be a "cool" place. Not good. First the vibe was off, it was completely silent as we walked in, no music playing or anything. Looked like a dingy bar. We ordered the tapsilog and longsilog and both were so greasy and bad quality meat. We couldn't drink the water so we ordered a sparking water from the fridge which was so flat, it was like the water was sitting there for years. Will not be coming back. read more

This is the cutest little cafe downtown! I love anything in a bowl and Cafe Motif has it down. Super fresh ingredients with such tasty flavors. I even ordered one to go and just scarfed it down. Came to Cafe Motif to do some work. The ambiance is beautiful. The seating areas are pretty and comfortable; lighting and space make it very airy, and the local art curated is unique. And then I ordered the Carnitas Bibimbap and it was FIRE! The carnitas was crunchy and paired well with the pickled onions and spinach. I would drive own 45 min again from San Jose for this dish! The cafe is also pretty good at handling allergies or other dietary restrictions, I'm allergic to nuts and I get stuff there all the time, so do friends with other dietary restrictions. their food is great but where it really shines is the staff and community events! the staff are wonderful, friendly, and make me want to go just to say hi. big shout out to eddie, and yusuf! their chef jason is also great at his job and very friendly! this place is a huge supporter of the arts, and hosts many free events where you can come and enjoy life music, poetry, ect. on thursdays they have a paint night where you can buy a drink and admission as a bonus for your purchase. I wish this place had more love, it's gone through a lot of changes over the time it's been established, and i'd say that every bump along the way was absolutely worth it to get where it is now. Give it a shot, I promise it will be worth it.-- if only to have an opportunity to meet the awesome bar manager (the aforementioned eddie) P.s. they have an ENORMOUS gluten free collection! I got their seasonal dark forest matcha it was one of the best matcha I have tried so far ! The man who rung us up was the manager he was very friendly and provided lots of recommendations based on what type of drinks we wanted. Very attentive to anything we needed. I ordered a Chai Tea Latte with almond milk!! Loved it!! A delicious pastry!! My friend ordered a hot chocolate, delicious!! Service very sweet and welcoming. We didn't want to leave. It's a great place to have a cup of coffee and many more, and the most important is that the closing time is very very convenient. It's a beautiful coffee shop. It has a lot of arts and craft done by locals. I came here to get a coffee and it was a simple drink. Nothing out of the ordinary. It was good, not strong. They had a bar right when you walked in on the street side. Maybe next time I'll try one of those drinks. read more

Tried this place today. Let's just say not adding to our list of places to eat! While the cute boutique was nice, the food was not! I had the tamale with poached egg. Egg still had the clear runny part, so not cooked all the way and it was not warm. Hubby had pancakes, side of bacon, toast and fried egg. He asked twice for for butter for pancake and toast she first said sure no problem then came back a loooong while later and actually said they DON'T SERVE BUTTER!! WHAT, it's toast and pancakes‍. Then asked for ketchup, yup you guessed it they don't serve it‍! We had 5 other guest with us and nobody is interested in coming back, the food was just not good. I placed a to go order. They said it would be 25-30 minutes so I ran an errand and came back over a half hour later. It wasn't ready they said it will be a few minutes. 20-30 minutes later I finally got my food. Came home and unpacked it. They forgot both my orders of lumpia. This place is beyond excellent. Made a phone order today because my daughter in law needed some extra love and is originally from the Filipins. I ordered the halo halo, pork sinigang, and lechon kawali. The pork sinigang tasted like my daughter in laws mother's (it made her cry). The lechon was so crispy and flavorful, and the halo halo was perfectly perportioned sweet and creamy. The using lady that helped me was pleasant and very helpful. Me and my wife were looking for a place to have dinner on Friday night, so we thought we should try this new place. Dang the place was packed, some people ended up leaving for lack of seats. But we didn't, so we tried their filipino dishes, and I should say it's definitely one of the best out there. Little filipina or mexican lady made me a white mocha, and the wife had matcha fusion and both coffee were so good!! This place is a gem, just wish there is more tables to accommodate everyone, and an entertainment would be nice as well. This is some of the best food I've ever had in a while! Chipotle chicken burrito and Chipotle chicken sandwich are so good. Chicken is so juicy and tender the service was great!! Super friendly!
