[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a nice neighborhood spot with nice outdoor seating that's dog friendly![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It gets very busy on the weekend but they still get you seated and served in a reasonable time frame. The food is pretty standard, I had a good cheeseburger.

Saturday n it was packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's open seating but I think you still need to check in with someone inside, especially if you have a bigger group.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather and I noticed they do have little roll-up (or down) clear plastic incase the weather gets funky[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The service was great, no complaints but were easy customers so it was all pretty straightforward. We both got omelettes and they were really good. I went with the southwest omelette which hit the spot. The eggs were cooked just right and they're sizable. I'm always happy when a place knows how to do grits and Navarre's were on point. Not too soupy or lumpy- the perfect consistency. You may need to add a little salt and pepper to it but I prefer to season my own grits anyway. They also do bottomless mimosas for $20 which is a pretty damn good deal. I'm definitely re-listing this place high up on my breakfast/brunch list for those nice days biking through city park n need a solid bite to eat.

I've been wanting to dine at Cafe Navarre for a really long time and finally got the chance on a weekday morning. It's street parking only and I found a park easily. I imagine it would have been more of a challenge on the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we entered, we were able to sit wherever we wanted and chose a table in the elevated section of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The biscuit was sliced open, buttered, grilled and most importantly, it was on point! I wasn't a fan of the grits but the other guest loved them. The omelet was decent, maybe slightly overcooked, but had good flavor. I'm definitely glad that I tried this place, but think there are better options around.

Chicken pesto panini was great for a light lunch of a hot summer day. I switched out the kettle chips for a side Caesar salad and it paired very well with the sandwich. The Caesar dressing on the salad and the pesto on the sandwich were both very yummy. We sat outside and it was nice with fans blowing on us and music playing as well as many shaded tables and chairs. Our waitress was good also. The inside did look old and the bathroom was small. Enjoyed my lunch.

Went for breakfast. Staff was amazing. So friendly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]If its a pretty day, this is the perfect breakfast spot to sit outside and enjoy the weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The iced mocha was delicious. Not too sweet and perfect to start off your day. The 3 eggs and grits with gravy were delicious as well if you're craving a traditional egg breakfast. Now for the star of the show - the Cuban sandwich! Wow. So good!!!!! I'll definitely be back for the Cuban and will crave it until I can have it again.

Super solid chicken salad sandwich, the salad with fried shrimp was very good too. My partner and I came for lunch on a Thursday at 2. Seating was fast and easy, they had the fans blowing outside so it felt so good even though it was 90° outside - it was perfect. The service was so kind and also fast. They also offer many drink options (we just had water)! The playlist was FIRE. Top r&b, soul, & hip hop beats for the whole time we were there. Loved that. Vibed out on the patio!!! Super solid, quick lunch spot. Fairly priced. $40 for two for lunch (tip included in that). Stop by & enjoy. I'll be back.

Went for a brunch with friends and boy do they get busy getting closer to lunch. Their hot Irish coffee is delicious and comes with a caramel drizzle. I got the bacon avocado Benedict and the poached eggs were overcooked but the flavor was decent. The breakfast potatoes were your run of the mill breakfast potatoes.

We went here when our favorite dive breakfast joint was too busy and were absolutely amazed. Great service. Great food. Great mimosas! I ordered the eggs Benedict and he had the breakfast special with pancakes and we absolutely loved the food. Our waitress was great, checked on us just enough and made sure we had plenty of water. Despite their business we didn't feel rushed either. This is our new breakfast joint for the weekends! read more

Good place, but Will probably not come back. Wanted some good food on a budget and saw this place was nearby... 4 stars and 1 dollar sign. Sounds like my kind of place!! Its set up in a house and looks like many similar restaurants in style and layout however they run their shop like a deli. You must order at the counter, get your own drink and silverware, and seat yourself and almost everyone was cleaning up their tables and bussing their own dishes after. Then when they call your number you must go get your own food. Kind of annoying but whatever... Onto the food, its okay. Shrimp was fresh and well prepared and the small spinach salad I got was great!! The fries were not homemade and very forgettable as was the bread on my Shrimp Poboy. Overall the Poboy lacked some depth and flavor. Mostly tasted pickle and mayo. Had the prices been lower I would be giving it a much better review but with a small side salad, poboy alacarte fries plus drink and tip it ended up costing me over $20 for a lunch. Shouldn't have tipped to be honest... SO, nice place some of their stuff is made with some real TLC and it has a lot of potential. Can see why folks like it but think the rating is just a touch too high and another dollar sign added to reflect their costs. read more

We went once and will not return. After you order and sit ,you will have to get back up to get your food. If they are busy ( who isn't at lunch time) they drop service. They got my Babe's burger order wrong. I had to GET UP to correct the order. I caught the waitress rolling her eyes when I asked for a corrections. YES, we had to get up AGAIN to get. He did enjoy it, but fries are extra. Their location near Delgado will keep them busy , but the poor service is a mess. read more

While my son was at Track practice I decided to meet a friend here for Breakfast. The food was just ok but our service was absolutely horrible. Our waitress Brit... wasn't very friendly at all. She never once smiled and was very rushed to get us to order and basically leave. We did not feel welcomed there at all. read more

Can't say I would go back. I went for brunch on Sunday and maybe I ordered wrong. I had eggs scrambled with "potatoes" and wheat toast. I should of cooked at home. There was no flavor and the potatoes were the frozen chunks kind with no spices or flavor. The toast was toasted but not warm enough to melt my butter. I also tried some of my boyfriends grits, still no flavors. read more

Came here for a lunch meeting with a couple of friends, and was delighted by the service and food. The waitress was very friendly, and when I needed to stall for more time to make a menu decision, she playfully held a mock conversation with my friend to buy me more time. The food was really good. I got a roast beef debris style po boy which I've seen on sale throughout the city, but this was the first time I took the plunge and ordered it. Ooh, boy, they are good. Highly recommend! I got them with a side of sweet potato fries which were also very good! We had a nice outdoor seat. We had to fight some of the dangers that come with that (hot weather, flies buzzing around, etc) but none of that is the responsibility of the restaurant of course. This is a really nice spot. Look forward to future lunch meetings here! read more

I've frequented this place very little considering I go to church right around the corner. It's a neighborhood environment which gives you that relaxed feel if that is what you are searching for. It's a sandwich/po-boy kind of place with sides ranging from fries, to soups, to salads. It lost two stars for two reasons: Reason number one is parking. Parking is limited to the surrounding neighborhood since it is a neighborhood establishment. It can be hectic trying to stay within the lines of residents' driveways depending on the type of car you drive. This also limits the amount of cars that get to park very close the restaurant. Weekends hold the busiest times so your best bet is to come on a weekday before kids get out of school and adults get off from work. To fix this issue, you don't necessarily have to dine in. There is the option of calling to take out your order. They always answer the phone so if you're a yelper, take a look at their menu and dial the number. "Lost star" Reason number two is the self serve option. When you eat in the restaurant, you swat yourself and you may have to wait a while to order. It's a chill environment whether inside or outside. If you don't mind waiting, be my guest. If you don't have time to waste, consider ordering take out or ordering before you come. Either way, it's affordable good food. P.s. If you like sweet potatoes, try their sweet potato fries. read more

Party of 5 -- 3 adults, 2 kids for late lunch on Lundi Gras. Place was surprisingly crowded but the staff worked hard to turn the tables quickly. We ordered a mix of brunch food and po boys. The Dirty Bird (grilled turkey, debris roast, gravy & melted Swiss dressed) and Surf & Turf (fried shrimp, debris roast beef & gravy dressed) were both awesome. Great neighborhood place. read more

Went to Cafe Navarre with my grandfather and sister as the three of us always have brunch on Thursdays! The neighborhood and atmosphere was pretty awesome. We chose a table outside on the patio and this particular day, the weather was so lovely! It's noted that Breakfast is from open -11am and lunch starts at 11am- close. At 10:30am My grandfather and I ordered breakfast while my sister ordered from the lunch menu which I thought was great because most places don't allow you to order lunch unless it's... lunch! We ordered the omelet which was extra fluffy and cooked perfect, my sister had the pesto panini that came with lays (house made chips would have been game changer, I'm not a fan of bagged chips at cafes and restaurants) It's a pretty cool neighborhood spot and will be back soon to try the Cuban sandwich perhaps they can substitute the bagged chips! read more

Very nice restaurant. I love the terrace there, it is so quiet and peaceful. The place is right next to City Park so it's a good place to stop after hanging out there. Their menu is really good, I had a "health plate" there and it was very tasty. Ingredients were obviously fresh as well, and the portion was large enough. Finally the entire staff is so friendly, smiling and nice... I'm a fan! read more

LOVE their Cuban sandwich. I often pick it up on my way home when I'm in a hurry and want something delicious. Since the sandwich was so good, we decided to head there for brunch. The brunch menu offers lots of options, but nothing looked super enticing or original. We both got the banana pancakes. Portion size was huge! Taste was ok - not bad but not something to write home about. I'll definitely keep coming back for that Cuban! But maybe not again for brunch. read more

Food was alright. Waiter did try to give some good selections on the food. They did get my order wrong but when I did ask for medium burger the burger was medium. The waiter did take a while to check in on you and I had to get up multiple times to ask for something and let them know that my check was ready. I also felt a little rushed towards the end of my meal when there wasn't really anyone there. read more

Very disappointed... from California and would say had zero flavor... had the surf and turf and roast beef was so very bland. My son had an omelette and pancakes and the potatoes and it was very plain with a lot of salt and nothing else... Would not recommend this place at all... read more

The Cuban sandwich really was the star of the show even when I ordered it without any cheese-- it still tasted fantastic. A warm and crispy baguette around tender pork hit the spot. I came during lunch hour and the waitresses were definitely busy. There's no real check in just keep an eye out for who came in and in what order. Once seated they were attentive but give you your privacy. I would probably sit on the first floor rather than the second with the stools. They had no real foot rest so my legs were just dangling awkwardly. Good price. Large portions. Now, go to! read more

Great, understated spot. The food was just as good as the fancier brunch places around town, but not as pricey and we got better sides with it. Love cafe Navarre! First time reviewing it though. In the time of corona, restaurants have been forced to change the way they do things. Cafe Navarre is still making everything taste amazing! Today we ordered pizzas and fries and frozen screwdrivers. OMG. Everything was phenomenal. The spinach and artichoke pizza was amazing and I'm sad we didn't get a large. The crust is so light!!! Everyone was happy. Especially the adults that got the happy hour froscrews for $5 each!! They have a huge menu and I've never been disappointed. Lovely outdoor seating area too! read more

We needed a place we could bring our dog, and Yelp told us to go here. Awesome decision. Everyone was nice, the patio was covered. I had the Dirty Bird poboy with roast beef debris, sliced turkey and Swiss cheese. It was really good. My girlfriend got a breakfast platter but gave me some bacon. I added bacon to the sandwich and it made it even better. There were plenty other things I want to go back and try. read more

This is a great spot tucked in a lovely neighborhood. I always reward myself with a meal from here after going to the DMV. Their benedicts are tasty and I love the California omelette! Get the jalapeño cheese grits, they're delicious! Jessica is my favorite server and she's always cheery, sweet, professional, and makes great suggestions. Lovely spot to sit outside at if it's nice out ! read more

This is a great lunch place. I've had some excellent hamburgers at Cafe Navarre, and I think of them every time I am tempted to try those trendy new burger places that are excessive in both price and pretense. Cafe Navarre does a quality burger for a fair price. There's no gourmet mayo or crap like that, because if the burger itself is quality, there's no need to hide it behind affected accoutrements. The cuban sandwich and artichoke soup I had today were equally praiseworthy. Frankly, I'm ashamed that I don't eat here more often. read more

Horrible service. We arrived and was seated immediately. Ordered tea and waitress said she would return to take our order. Well,we just sat there for what seemed like an eternity. Other patrons received their food and we were just passed over. We decided to leave, but not after leaving the cost of our tea on the table. Upon leaving our "waitress"thanked us for coming. I just could not resist politely informing her that it would have been nice if someone had come to take our order. And she replied sorry. Well, I guess you know we will never return. We hit up this cafe for breakfast on our way back home to Dallas- glad we did. The location is unique in that its hidden in a neighborhood; has that sweet, local vibe (yeah, what a dork I am). Anyway, quick service and good eats. Nothing fancy but hey, its a local cafe. I loved my southern omelette + grits and wished we could've stuck around for their po'boys. (Maybe next time!) read more
