The potatoes seemed like they were fresh out of the frozen section and not very tasty. I needed to load my plate up with salt, pepper, and hot sauce to get some flavor. We eat here 1-3 times a week, dine in or take out! I have had a great meal every time and everyone I have brought there loves it too! Our typical family debate during breakfast is whether they should make hashbrowns, homemade home fries or their present cubed potato. We never come to an agreement but I would love to have some onion red potatoes instead of the diced potatoes they use. I am always unsure why this inexpensive spot is not busy in the evenings. This was our first time here. The food was very tasty. I had the Dirty Bird poboy and my daughter had the spinach and artichoke panini. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. She even brought my dog a bowl of water. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because of the flies. They attacked our food as soon as it was put down. It was definitely a problem. My wife and I had finished watching our grandson play football at City Park and decided to have a late lunch with him and our son before they headed home. We picked Cafe Navarre and sat out on the patio since the day was so nice. I ordered the Cuban sandwich while everyone else ordered the Dirty Bird. Our grandson added an order of the gravy cheese fires to his meal. The Cuban was one of the better ones that I've had in the city while they all raved over the Dirty Bird. Service was acceptable. It was pretty crowded with what looked like mostly locals, which is always a good sign, but that sign faded away pretty quickly. The service was okay, could have definitely been better, and the food was just average. I got the spinach artichoke benedict with grits, and the veggies in the benedict felt like they came out of a can or from a frozen bag. The grits was definitely better than the benedict, but overall the meal was not worth the price I paid for it!! This was our 1st time at Cafe Navarre, but it certainly won't be our last! I had their Cuban sandwich, which was fantastic. They roast their pork in house & I had to ask about the French bread. They use Leidenheimer bread. Perfectly crisp on the outside & soft on the inside. It is so much better than the Cuban at Jazz Fest (#SorryBoutIt Canseco's) that we talked to the owner about vending at Fest. They already have their Cuban at VooDoo Fest. My sweet potato fries were crispy (how I like them) & hot out of the fryer. David had the eggs benedict & said they were really good. They serve brunch on Sat & Sun. I love getting a burger for breakfast & that's what I miss most about La Peniche. Cafe Navarre fills that gap & more. The service was excellent & the decor is cute & homey. Cafe Navarre reopened today from COVID-19 closure! I ordered a cheeseburger and an order of cheese fries. The order was ready in about 15 minutes. All I had to do was drive up and they delivered it to my car. The burger was very good, cheese fries were good, but could have used a bit more cheese. Great to see them reopen. My boyfriend and I are visiting from out of town and stopped by for Sunday brunch. The place was packed and service was a tad slow but nothing unreasonable. Prices were very fair from $7-$15 with generous portions. I got a mushroom feta omelette with fried potato squares and a buttermilk biscuit. My omelette was fluffy and loaded with veggies and cheese. It did have a little egg shell in it but was delicious regardless. My potatoes were crispy and seasoned well. The biscuit was soft and fluffy. My boyfriend got a Texmex omelette with grits and a biscuit. His omelette was also stuffed with goodies, but it also had a little shell. The grits were salted perfectly and tasted great without any additions. Really the only part of the visit we didn't enjoy was how loud it gets when it's so busy. The room is very open and sound carries. It was hard to talk without yelling ourselves. Overall it's a very nice cafe with great food. Great shrimp po-boy and outstanding Cuban. Great French Bread, which always makes the PO-Boy stick out, but all fresh ingredients and never frozen. Don't realize it until you get hit with frozen bait shrimp. And that is never the case at Cafe Navarre. Will be having lunch there tomorrow. read more

The service is cordial and proactive without being intrusive. I was introduced to this place through a late friend who was a quadraplegic. It was his favorite spot for many years. They accommodated his needs and welcomed him like an old friend. My experiences have been consistently the same. Prices are reasonable. Located close to City Park and Delgado University. I hop on yelp and what do I find closest to us but this well reviewed little cafe. The speed and friendliness of the staff is just one part of the five star experience I had at Cafe Navarre though. I ordered the Eggs Blackstone with hash browns, let me tell you, those eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was creamy and unsplit! They also put a delicious, almost spicy seasoning on the hash browns that really tied the dish together for me! My boyfriend ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and a side of bacon, his meal was just as perfect as mine! Overall this place was wonderful from ambiance, to service, to food quality. I recently came here for breakfast with a friend. They are part of the trio of the Riccobono family restaurants in the area. This particular location is located in the Navarre neighborhood of New Orleans - hence the name. On good weather days, I suggest eating on the patio as we did. It was perfect. They have pretty white lights out there for at night as well. They have a great menu that is ideal for breakfast and lunch. They now serve dinner as well. We both got breakfast plates and were very pleased. Everything tasted fantastic. The service was very friendly, too. I hope to come back soon and try some of their other stuff. I don't crave roast beef but when looking through the pictures for this restaurant the roast beef def caught my eye. I just wish they would've warned me that it's that much similar. Portion is huge.
