Simple flavors, fresh food, & high quality ingredients, the epitome of French cuisine! As true with most Naples gems, its small restaurant with a neon sign in a strip mall. It has very cute decor, but with about 40 seats in a 300 sq foot space, I imagine it would be super clostrophobic during a busy dinner. Also, it was hot by the kitchen, so this may be tough during the summer. I don't imagine a will return for dinner, but a definite 5 stars for lunch! So far I have tried the French onion soup, spinach quiche, Niciose salad, and Pain Bagnet. All delightful! They French onion soup is vegetarian made with onions and white wine, I think it would be better with a bit more fat in it, but the soup probably only gets better as the day wears on. After the filling bowl of soup, I thought for sure I wouldn't have room for another bite, but maybe just a taste ... Omg, nope, found some room! :) The quiche was seriously the best I have ever had, only nitpicking thing is that I'm pretty sure the crust is frozen/store bought ... But at least they bought a good one because it was so delicious! Satisfying meal! Will definitely recommend and return again for lunch! read more

Amazing service and the food is incredible. Tried soup of the day which was artichoke. Light, creamy, full of flavor. Chicken breast mushroom gratine was light and just a hint of sherry or wine... shrimp gratine was full of ocean flavor, light cream. Vegetables and rice were divine. BEST PLACE FOR LUNCH IN COLLIER & LEE COUNTIES Well, I think so anyway. We came all the way down here from Fort Myers just for lunch, and once again, it was fantastic. Again I had the "Saucisson Beurre" sandwich on a fresh baguette and it was delicious. I tried by wife's crepe with brie, mushrooms & ham and it was also excellent. I'll have to come here for dinner sometime. I love this place. read more

Excellent New Year's Eve dinner, a five course fixed menu with one option, which allowed my wife and I to share. Service was also excellent, both the helpful, attentive but not too intrusive wait staff as well as the owners, including a table side greeting by the chef/owner. Good wine choices by the glass or bottle, ranging from modestly-priced to fine wines. We will return for regular lunches and dinners. Photos attached of the menu and of each course, which were all very good to excellent, particularly the main courses, branzino or chicken ballotine but also the potato leek with truffle. So, this was going to be the big night out for the family reunion. A French restaurant. Woohoo! Very quaint, unassuming place. Very friendly and attentive staff. The water was good - you know how so many places use tap water with a hint of bleach so you have to call in the Mio. Ugh. They don't have a liquor license, just beer and wine. The wine prices are totally outrageous. I know most restaurants make a huge margin on their wines often doubling or tripling the wholesale and sometimes the retail value. But I researched some of their wines beforehand and found their cheap $6-10 retail bottles of wine going for $30-40! At least carry a selection of premium wines if you're going to gouge the customers. Most of the selection was pretty much on the low end of the wine quality scale but as I've said before in many of my Florida restaurant reviews, the seniors don't care what the food or wine taste like as long as they are getting their Buy One, Get One! It's all about the BOGO and even Cafe Normandie caters to that crowd. I assumed the house wine would be at least as good as the higher priced, so I ordered a glass of the house Red Bordeaux (Cab Sauv) at a typical $7/glass. Not bad and I'd order it again - in fact, I had three glasses! Tonight, their special was a Filet Mignon with a bleu cheese sauce and some grilled veggies. I was starving, it sounded fantastic and my mouth was watering as the waiter described it. Service time was about average which is actually good in this "type" of restaurant. My meal arrived and I was a initially disappointed. The filet was purportedly a six-ouncer (read: Medallion) and I ordered it medium-rare. However, it *DID* literally melt in my mouth and was definitely in my Top Ten Filets for taste, tenderness and quality I have ever had. Butter-knifed the entire steak.. A+ for the meat. It was the rest of the plate that was so very, very sad. The six brussel sprouts, couple of mushrooms, and baked tomato didn't even deserve to be a sitting in a Hometown Buffet line. I really can't complain....or can I? Had the veggies looked fresher instead of grey, I'd kick this review up at least another star but that plus the presentation left me feeling flat. A few others ordered the Baked? Chicken and it looked really good. 1/2 chicken with cripsy skin, flavored nicely. I had a few bites - nice a juicy. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Nah, I really wasn't disappointed with the beef. We ordered some crepes for dessert and they were pretty good - especially the Nutella one. The lemon one not so much as the crepe was drowned in the sauce and became rubbery. Overall, it was okay, but not the place I would go to more than 3-4 times a year. We dined here last night for the first time under the new owners and can highly recommend you dine at Cafe Normandie! The food and service were wonderful and the addition of a couple playing keyboards and guitar and singing soft versions of many of our favorite tunes was a lagniappe! We started with escargot and they were perfect. My husband had the duck and I had the salmon. Both were delicious. We finished with an eclair. The wine selection by the glass was good...my husband had the Malbec and I had the Sauvignon blanc. We will make this part of our regular rotation when visiting Naples. read more

I go there at least once a week to buy some baguettes as the "feature" of a home cooked meal....be it sandwiches or lobster bisque or French Onion soup. This week, while our kitchen is being remodeled we splurged by eating a whole meal there and loved it. I had a creamy and caloric seafood risotto and my husband gobbled up a croque monsieur, a baked or fried boiled ham and cheese sandwich. The dish originated in French cafés and bars as a quick snack. A croque madame is a version of the dish topped with a fried egg. read more

Cafe Normandie is located in a side of the road shopping plaza. So the decor is not great. However the food was exceptional. We had Dover Sole cooked in a pan and it was the best Dover Sole we have had in a long time. The crepe Suzette was also excellent. The service was prompt and polite. The owners, the chef and his wife, are from France and are trying hard to serve authentic French Food. They came a year ago in search of the American Dream. They have everything to be successful. Their food is delicious and their reputation will keep growing as more people spread the news. I am going to be back to taste the Boeuf Bourguignon and the Tournedos Rossini with some of our friends. read more

Don't know why we ever bother to try other french restaurants, none have lived up to this place, it's set the bar other's locally fall short of. Service was always great, and clearly lots of regulars by observing how often they greet patrons. We have tried so many different items on the menu that we can say with certainty, you will not be disappointed no matter what you choose. However, no matter what you do, do not leave without trying the mussels! The sauce is so heavenly you will be tempted to loose yourself and lick the plate... try it, you'll see. Be sure to order your souffle up front (time it takes to make it) to complete your authentic french experience. If it's in season, be sure to make reservations WELL IN ADVANCE. The space is intimate and does push the envelope with the number of tables that can be comfortably fit in there. Consequently, if a member of your party uses a wheelchair or a walker, I would make it very clear when calling to make a reservation as some logistics would have to be considered by them to accommodate. read more

The unassuming facade should not deter you from stepping inside. We enjoyed the authentic French cuisine and intimate, charming interior. I had the scallops in cognac sauce, a light but richly flavorful sauce; My wife raved about the escalloped chicken. Very disappointing. This restaurant is much too small for live music. We were 4 people and could barely talk to one another. The food was also disappointing. The menu was very interesting but food was not well prepared . The " Poulet a la moutarde" for example was extremely dry. The staff was however very attentive. read more

Believe it or not, they actually import the dough for the bread from France....something about the water there....I don't know what it is, but the bread here is crunchy on the outside,soft inside,and sourdough perfection! I am a creature of habit, so I always order the pate sandwich....It combines everything good and delicious...the bread, the pate,the side salad...YUM! I will update this review when I return to Naples, as sadly, it has been long enough that I cannot remember what else is on the menu....but go here....the place is AMAZING! read more

Came from Washington for a vacation on the beach and found this cafe by a complete accident. The place resembles an authentic French cafe. It is owned by a Frenchman and serviced by French. The bread on sandwiches was to die for. The service was more than attentive. The food was authentic and very, very good. The bread, mmm... The deserts are excellent. If you want a real taste of "made in France" sandwich, definitely come in and try. read more

I am so glad I researched where we were going to eat our my mini-getaway to Naples. This was the first spot we ate at after a two hour drive and we definitely were not disappointed. From the outside, it doesn't seem like much but I was totally convinced once I walked in. It is a very quaint bistro with a warm and pleasant ambience. The waitress was attentive and was ready to assist us right away. We went for lunch and it was pretty packed but the service was still right on. I ordered the crepe stuffed with turkey, brie, and spinach..delicious. My husband ordered a pastry stuffed with turkey, swiss cheese, and spinach and it was so big..it was really delicious but definitely too big for me. For dessert, we had the creme brulee which was absolutely scrumptious. So glad we came here and I wish we were here longer to maybe go back for dinner. If you are in Naples, and like french food, this is the place to visit. read more

Tried this on a whim my first day in Naples based on the positive reviews on Yelp. I absolutely loved it. I went for dinner and had escargots and roasted chicken with dijon sauce. The bread was fantastic and the owner was not at all stingy with it. The escargots was fantastic and so was the chicken. I've never tasted dijon so good. Overall the food was very good and the owner is very friendly and welcoming. The decor is very much reminiscent of a village cafe you would find in France and was very pleasant. Yelp definitely got this right, you won't be disappointed. read more

We spent the bulk of our dining experience trying to guess words from the french pop music playing the background. We finished it off with a delicious warm chocolate croissant. A Real Gem! Please Support This Restaurant. Hands down the best meal I've had in a long time. This is an authentic French meal without having to travel all the way to France to get it! In typical French style, there was only one server in the entire place, so be prepared to wait a long time for your food. Trust me though, it is worth the wait. I had a delightful pate as my appetizer and the roasted chicken for my entree. I literally gasped when i tasted the first bite of my chicken. It almost melted in my mouth. The inside was moist and tender and the skin was the perfect level of crispiness. Crepes Suzette for dessert were also fantastic. There is an interesting story behind this restaurant. The long-time owner apparently passed away a few months ago. I believe his daughter now owns the restaurant and she and our waiter are trying to keep the place open. It is very small inside (maybe 40 seats), but it was full the evening we were there thanks to the excellent food and to a buy one entree, get another entree free special before 6 pm. It would be a real shame if this restaurant were to close and I hope residents of Naples and people here on vacation will continue to support this restaurant. There are not many authentic French places in the United States and would be sad if this one were to close. Remember, don't be in a hurry when you come here. I lived in France for a while and a typical French dinner is at least 2 hours. Bring a good book or a companion. Indulge in the French pastimes of a good conversation and slowly savoring your food. Whaaaaaat? Best place for lunch in Naples? Not. We stopped here for lunch today because I've seen everyone give this place five stars for the outstanding food. We ordered the salmon croissant and the Croque-Monsieur. Both come with a side consisting of a spinach salad and a slice of tomato. My sandwich was fine, the croissant was different then the typical one you would buy from the store. The portion of smoked salmon was a good ratio, but I couldn't taste any of the lemon slices that was supposed to come with it. The Croque-Monsieur was a bit of a let down. It was basically a grilled cheese with ham in between two slices of white wonder bread. For an additional $1, you can get béchamel sauce. The sauce was okay, nothing special. The service was fair, there was only one other table and the place is small so it wasn't hard to get their attention. The portion's are a bit on the smaller side, but that's how most french food is. While I didn't find anything wrong with our meals, I also didn't find anything mind blowingly awesome. Maybe we didn't order the right things...But regardless, I don't think I would revisit Cafe Normandie. There are better restaurants on this side of town. read more

But that was the only downside of the experience. The food was delicious - I got the veal dish and my friend ordered the beef bourguignon. The portion sizes were decent and left me full. The veal and beef was tender and flavorful! I ordered the tarte tartin for dessert which was described to me as an upsidedown apple pie. The apples were candied and almost tasted like dried fruit; they were sweet and had an interesting texture. This was on top of a flaky crust, served warm with a scoop of ice cream. Yum! I have tried this dish at Sage in Hollywood, FL and it does not compare at all to this restaurant's version. I would definitely go back here! read more

As a full time naples resident who moved here from a much larger city (Chicago) that had world class restaurants, many of the Naples restaurants (with several notable exceptions) are just overpriced, unimaginative reproductions of what's available in bigger markets. Or, maybe they are just what Red Lobster and Ponderosa Steak House were to a six year old, in 1976. Cafe Normandie, looks a little dumpy and is located in a class B strip mall on 41. However, the food is excellent and fairly priced for the quality. It deserves "Hole in the Wall" status. We have been for lunch and dinner many times and have always left happy. Also, the owner is probably one of the nicest guys to come to Naples from Europe. (His lovely mother even helps-out from time to time). So glad to have a Naples restaurant focus on food quality before ambience. [UPDATE] My wife and I used Cafe Normandie as our own retreat - often for Friday lunch. Splitting a Friand (many options) and a spinach salad will make you feel full and like you "ordered light." However, our lovely daughter has discovered that she loves their sliced ham (lunch menu) and (especially) the chocolate mousse. Luckily, we don't speak French and don't know how to say "no" (in French). Finally, for the full time Naples residents, this place offers really, really good deals in the heat of summer. Cafe Normandie has phenomenal french food. My boyfriend and I were in Naples on vacation and found Cafe Normandie after scanning the reviews on Yelp (thanks Yelpers!). We weren't looking for anything fancy, just some good lunch. From the outside, the place is indistinguishable from the every other strip mall shop, and we almost missed it completely. On the inside it didn't look like anything special to me either, but once I tried their food I was sold. I had the tomato soup, crepe with spinach, swiss and mushrooms, and then split the nutella crepe for dessert. Absolutely perfect. My boyfriend got the omelette sandwich and was a huge fan as well. We liked Cafe Normandie so much that we went back the next day for lunch and ordered the same things all over again. Really great find. read more

We used to love this place for their Country Pate. We were in Naples after a long absence and excited to repeat previous experiences. As we were seated, two women at the next table leaned over and said "don't order the creme brulee". We asked why, and they told us it was presented cold and the sugar on top was not crisp. It was also curdled. They told us the place used to be a favorite of theirs as well, but had disappointed them several times since the new owner took over. We decided to go ahead and have lunch, ordering the country pate. When it arrived, we saw that it was NOT what we ordered. It was the duck liver mousse that was also on the menu...not our favorite thing... AND the portion was skimpier than before. Presuming they no longer offered the country pate, we ate our lunch. I also noticed there were only 2 cornichon on on my sandwich, not nearly enough to match the amount of mousse. I kept trying to get the attention of our server with no success so I got up and went to the counter to find all three employees chatting at the counter. After we finished, we asked to look at the menu, thinking we misread it. County Pate WAS on there and it was also on the bill. We went back to the counter to ask if they still had it and were told they did. Did they have some available or were they out? No, they had it. We showed them our bill and explained we didn't get it, she said "I guess the kitchen made a mistake". That's it. No apology, no offer to make it right. NOTHING. In hindsight we should have said something when the meal arrived. Because of the comments of the two other diners, we assumed it was due to the change in ownership, but the problem was with the kitchen. We were disappointed enough that we will not return and we will not recommended this restaurant to others. read more

Come to cafe Normandie to experience good renditions of French daily cuisine - with some special event dishes to boot. Comfort foods of "the old country" are all there. Omelette & lettuce? - yes. Pain bagnat? - yes (from Corsica, not Normandy, but who cares?). Pain et pâte de campagne? - sûre. What's great about le café Normandie is a non-stuffy, casual approach to common French food. There is no pretense here. I.e., it's very similar to how it would be in France. Imagine having lunch at a mom & pop's place here in the states. It's kinda like that - 'cept how it would be in the hexagon. The late owner, I'm sad to learn, passed away last fall. He came from the same area in Normandy as my maternal family (Eu/Treport/Mers). He was a good guy and I know his patrons miss him. Nonetheless, things appear to be humming along so I think he'd be satisfied with how good our meals were this week. read more

I looked at my last review so many years ago and realized that I had ordered the same luncheon item: Chicken salad, now listed as salade au poulet. My friend said she had read that the owner died a while ago, and the place was under new management. I can say by comparing the old recipe with lots of ingredients for a luncheon salad with the new $17 version: about 8 thumb size pieces of chicken displayed at the edge of a mound of lettuce with four tomato slivers on top - that things have definitely changed. Despite it being the busiest time of tourist season, the place was less than half full. I fear I may be witnessing the demise of this Cafe. read more

Very good food. We have been here for lunch and several times for dinner. A bit pricey. Go for regular dinner as early dining portions a bit small. This little cafe is wonderful. My wife used to live in France, so we are always on the hunt for authentic French food. We decided to bring our three sons here for dinner and it couldn't have been better. We were a little apprehensive at first look over the menu, because we thought it could be difficult to find something for the kids. We encouraged them to give it a try and they all ended up loving their meals. Such a great place to eat and far better than any American cuisine chain that are all over the place. This wonderful spot provided great exposure to authentic French cuisine for our children! The staff was courteous and attentive, they even taught our boys some French phrases throughout the meal! Consistently good and old-fashioned French in the nicest possible way. Very unusual for a Naples restaurant - they tend to be new, brash, big and 'American' food with blander spicing (to suit usual mostly mid-American clientele). No reservations at lunch - come at a more civilized, Euro time (say 1.30pm) and you'll probably get a seat. One of few Naples places where you feel welcome from start to finish. Trad Favorites : French (naturellement!) Onion Soup, Croque Monsieur (two sandwiches/take-home-box-size portion). Three kinds of homemade Quiche. (Great crust! Order one 24 hours in advance to take home.) Great omlettes, decent salads. Dinner (make a reservation) makes the most of the small (ok - slightly dingy, but charming) space - sort of like the type of restaurant you saved up to go to in college when you were on a date. Best*Chocolate*Croissants hands down. Better than the ones I had in Paris. I ate at Cafe Normandie last year for the first time when a friend brought me for lunch. Had the bacon, spinach and cheese quiche with side salad, which was delicious. After lunch I approached the dessert case to see one remaining croissant au chocolat. I ordered it with minimal expectation as I thought no one could beat the classic Parisian croissant. Wrong! This chocolate criossant was buttery flakey sinfully chocolatey goodness. Every morsel was a bite of heaven. At times I have woken up with cravings that only Cafe Normandie's Chocolate croissants can satisfy. I've gotten there and they have been, not surprisingly, sold out. I probably shouldn't be writing this review, as it will decrease my chances of arriving to the restaurant to find a large quantity of chocolate croissants to purchase, but they do deserve the rave. read more

I have to admit that I was not open minded to French cuisine when my wife asked to go to Cafe Normandie...but I relented...much to my delight. The place is very small, as she describes it "intimate" but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in atmosphere. We both had the filet mingon features the night that we went and I'm not sure I've ever had a more tender steak anywhere. The service was very friendly. We took home a bunch of pastries for a breakfast we were hosting the next morning, it took every ounce of discipline that I had not to eat them all later that night.
