We were in Paris just before the shut down- and the chef's cooking and preparation here in Naples was just as enjoyable as anything we had in France. Came here in mid-February. It's beer and wine only. Had onion soup, lobster bisque and escargots appetizers. All good, none amazing. Cote du Rhone wine was good. Main courses were coquilles and crevittes st jacques, duck and chillean sea bass. Again all good, none great. I liked it, would go again , but won't rush back either. read more

We were here for the first time this week, was recommended. It was sooo good. The hardest part about this particular lunch was that we were going to have a heavy dinner, so we ate only half the portion...which, by the way, is very generous for the price. We had high hopes for having a good meal here. We were quite disappointed overall. We went on a week night and it wasn't very busy at the restaurant - it was just us and another table. The service wasn't the fastest for a slow night, although the server was friendly. The best part of the experience was the cappuccino - it was good with the caramelized sugar on top. I ordered a salad and a soup - the soup was cold. Someone didn't heat it up enough in the microwave. The salad was ok - nothing special. My husband ordered a stew - which reheated - tastes good. We were looking forward to a good dessert crepe - it came out tasting like the crepe was frozen and reheated - had that freezer burn taste. The sauce was some sort of strawberry jelly and jarred strawberry - not fresh strawberries. We were disappointed by the lack of quality and freshness of the food and high prices. I have always had high hopes for this quaint French Restaurant , but sadly it always falls short. The setting is great and the service is fantastic but the food is average at best. My latest visit I ordered the lamb. The meat was tender aNd cooked perfectly but didn't seem to be seasoned and had no sauce. The sides served were very disappointing. "Scalloped " potato and a steamed veg medley .. Both flavorless also no salt , sauce or butter . For $28 I hold higher mouth watering expectations. My husband and I have been to Café Normandie many times and we love it! Everything we've had from there has been delicious and authentic. We recently had them cater a delicious Beef Wellington for our family dinner and it was a huge success - even my pickiest daughter who doesn't eat red meat couldn't resist taking a bite and loved it. We've also had several of their menu offerings from their appetizers, entrees, and desserts. We have always had a wonderful experience! I have a hard time believing all these reviews are legit. This place is so far from quality/value that it's not even worth discussion. It is probably worthy of only 1 star but I'm giving it 2 out of mercy. Went here for lunch on 10/26. One of the strangest menus I have ever seen. Everything, and I mean everything, is $10. French onion soup is the only exception at $4.50. They list the same omelet twice - once under salads and again under sandwiches. Just weird. I had the croque monsieur. Cheap (bordering on tacky) ingredients. And tiny. It looked like a half sandwich. The side salad was dressed with what appeared to be plain oil. Ambiance? Zero. Service? 3. At the time of my review it is the #2 rated food joint on yelp in Naples. Really people? There has to be better in town. Waste of time & money. read more

This place is utterly scrumptious. My husband and I come down to Naples about once a year to vacation, and happened upon this lovely place completely by chance. The food is fantastic and very authentic. Very delicious pastries and baguettes as well. Only caveat - they're not open normal hours all year long (we went in the summer and they were only open for lunch) but during the winter (when all the snowbirds come donw) their hours are longer. read more

Went there a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised with what I found. The ambience inside feels like a cozy french cafe with very simplistic decoration. The crowd, as usual in Naples, older folks. The food was delicious, and most of everything in the all the times I've been there, the service has been extremely attentive. I went to cafe normandie on a whim while I was out shopping...and this little gem was a nice surprise!! It's casual, delicious but small menu, and has a old european feel to the place. I ordered the quiche lorraine and it was light, fluffy, and casual. The waiter was european as well - so it's a bit different from the usual restaurants which is a nice change! This has always been a great "go-to" spot for breakfast (fresh croissants!) and lunch. However, now they are also open for dinner and I am so glad. I am in love with the roasted chicken and the roasted duck. Just can't seem to order anything else. My husband has a hard time choosing between the veal dish or the beef bourguignon. As a full dining experience, Cafe Normandie was the best experience we have had in Naples and possibly elsewhere. The service was terrific, the value for the food and the wine was exceptional, and our food was - wow! I had a shrimp and scallops stew which was unforgettable. I'm not sure what all these five star reviews are about. I had rack of lamb which was not terrible, but I had the sudden need to purge a few hours later. My wife had beef borgion that was OK. The dessert was pretty good though, we had napoleon and creme Brule. The best part of the meal was the check, as it turned out that were running two for ones. Terribly disappointing, arrived at the. Reserved time, hostess could not find our reservation, only the phone number was used instead of the usual method of the name. Waited fifteen minutes for a server to approach us, grudgingly took our drink order, ten minutes after catching her eye we asked her if she was the only server we were told no the other server was in the back but that she would find out what she was doing the new server came back and took our dinner choices. Ten more minutes later she came back and served two of the four meals. The server never noticed she was two dinners short. We tried to catch her eye but she, the other waitress and the busser have perfected the no eye contact routine. The two of our group were almost finished before we caught our servers attention. The final two meals were brought to our table and served with a mumbled apology. I really wish I could say they were worth waiting favor but alas that was far from the case. Their version of Osso busso was unlike any I had ever had or observed, the sauce was a commercial red sauce, the vegetables were mushy and unsalted and bland. Coffee was served cold and had to be reheated. This restaurant has fallen very far in service and quality. My review can be summed up in six words. A wonderful local restaurant. Had dinner there tonight. My husband and I shared the escargot (absolute wonder) which were tender and had just the right amount of garlic and butter. Also shared the shrimp cooked the same. For the main course my husband had the cod. I had the shrimp and scallops in bechamel sauce. Dessert was creme brûlée. We were so disappointed in this place, after the reviews. It is quaint, for a strip mall, although I think the Christmas trees in mid may were a little past their due date. It was very nice to make reservations, and we were seated promptly with a kind host. The restaurant offered buy one get one free which was a nice surprise. However, we both ordered salmon off the special of the night menu, and that seemed to be a mistake. When the meal arrived, it turned out the waiter forgot to put in one of our two meals. We waited, eating separately so one wouldn't get cold. The side dishes (rice and Brussel sprout) were ok. The fish, however was undercooked. I know that salmon can be cooked different temps, but there was no suggestion ahead of time about how we would like it done. When my meal eventually arrived it was the same way, which made me think they were either rushed, or cooked it this way on purpose. Since I wasn't sure of the quality of the fish, I chose just not to eat the uncooked portion. Neither did my mother. The waiter rarely came to our table, so when he discovered we didn't eat the fish, he did apologize and said we should have sent it back. He also offered 1 free dessert. By that time we were just ready to leave. The waiter was talking for the longest time to another table, and never came to accept our payment, so we finally called over another person. They also added their own "gratuity" of 18%... which to me is more of a charge or tax than a gratuity. First of all my wife and I have been coming here for years. we use to get the chicken with brie sandwich. It was decadent and delicious. marinated chicken with a thich slice of brie. we had also heard about the owner pass. Had spoken to him too. Nice man. Well, recently we went there for lunch and ordered what we normally order. They had changed it. it was still good but the chicken was no longer marinaded and they were quite a bit skimpier on the cheese. I know cost maybe be why but I would prefer to pay a dollar more and have the old sandwich back. Have not been back to try dinner menu to see if it wear the same or changed. One of my favorite places ever! And it is always a must every time I come back to Naples. The menu is not very big but everything on it is a masterpiece.
