7/2025. They didn't have their act together on the day we visited. We weren't sure at first who our server was? It took fifteen minutes to get ice water, salsa and chips and it was HOT out!! This is definitely a tourist spot as most places on the Riverwalk are! The server was not friendly or attentive. The team approach on this day was not good--much slower than it should have been for a quiet afternoon. The attitude of our server was poor and she didn't seem to care much at all about customer service. We had the guacamole and the fish tacos with margaritas to drink. All pretty average Mexican food. Our sweet waitress Emily was amazing!! She recommended the 64oz margarita (strawberry/mango mixed) to share, the Birria Quesadilla which is very filling if used as a meal. Definitely could have split this as a meal! Chips were fresh and salty, queso was great as well as the salsa! Horrible service! The host lady was very rude. We asked for a table close to the canal and she sent us inside. She said: "well if you want to sit in the sun go ahead" , commenting in a snarky manner. Then, when my son asked us to move, we asked our server to move to the table on the side, and she graciously said yes, but then we saw the host laughing at us! Pay in mind that we were by now sitting in the table closest by the hosting station. I just found the whole thing very disrespectful. I ordered the ground beef crispy tacos with rice and it was tasty! The tacos were crispy and fresh! The ground beef was seasoned to perfection with cheese and lettuce. The street corn was cooked perfectly and was tasty. The strawberry margarita was perfect with the right blend of strawberry flavoring and tequila. The salsa and chips were fresh and delicious! Service was great, but the food was the worst! I ordered the enchilada combo Uno, and got Taco Bell served in a plate! They used ground beef that looked like dog food wrapped in red taco shell. The "Spanish rice" had carrots and peas! essentially a Chinese fried rice from Panda Express. Avoid this place. Walking alongside the San Antonio Riverwalk is often a pleasant experience. We stopped at Cafe Olé for a nice Tex-Mex experience. At least the decorations were welcoming enough. We went at 2:00 pm on a Thursday and there was no wait. We conveniently sat at a tall table and ordered jalapeño poppers, shrimp tacos, and an enchilada plate. After enjoying our chips and salsa, we waited about 10 minutes before a manager came up and asked if we ordered our drinks, to which, our server finally came with our waters. I'll have to call Shaggy and Scooby-Doo over because there's a pretty interesting mystery to be had. 1. The enchiladas were scorching hot. I mean after I was done eating you could still see steam rise from the sauce. Temperature wise, they were so heated up I couldn't even taste and enjoy them. 2. The shrimp in the tacos were rubbery. As a fan of shrimp - I have never tried a rubber consistency in shrimp that was not microwaved. 3. The Jalapeño breading is bland and dry, and left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. The check came just as fast as we sat down, with a $48 ticket for microwaved food. There's many options for Tex-Mex in San Antonio, and this is NOT it. Sadly, I can not in good conscience give more than one lonely star. (Lone star?) The star is for the great view and location, and friendly server. Its a great place to people-watch along the touristy part of the river walk. Three of us ordered lunch here- Enchiladas, Flautas, Tacos and and none of it was good. The guacamole and salsa was just Meh. There's no excuse when you order plain standards like these. There is No Reason for a Mexican restaurant to serve what tasted like days-old rice and beans, and skimpy portions. With NO alcohol, the bill I believe was close to $70. I wouldn't have minded if the food was even passable, given the location and that we knew it wouldn't be great. I hope they can step up their game. There has to be somebody who can cook back there! Homemade tortillas, warm chips, freshly made rice and beans, quality cheese, chilis!!, clearly in this area they have access to authentic ingredients... these are simple things that would have made a big difference. read more

When I asked, she stared at me puzzled and said "I'll get it after I take this other tables order" I would've totally understood but the tone was very rude, I guess I made a shocked face that she noticed as she walked away because she turned back our way to grabbed the dishes and plopped it on some other counter (she didn't even make eye contact). I figured that since it was right on the river walk, it would be overpriced and mediocre. We were pleasantly surprised that it was actually pretty good. Our server was in training, and let us know that he was still learning. His trainer stayed nearby and provided guidance and assistance so he never missed a beat.
