This is my first time dining here and it certainly won't be my last. I came here the day I'm writing this review to celebrate a late Mother's Day. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated and were greeted with a beautiful view of the mountains. The tree canopy over us made for some fantastic shade and let just enough sun through so that it felt cool but also slightly warm. The matcha I ordered was so tasty. I never order matcha unless I go somewhere special and this occasion called for it. The waitress was very kind and let us sit with our drinks for a while before we were ready to order. The view made it so easy to forget about how ever long we waited for food. The seating area is nothing like anywhere you've been. It was quiet and we sat at this gorgeous bar like seating and had so many options for food. When our food finally arrived it was beautifully plated and was so flavorful. The biggest gripe I have is that it's so far from me and I wish it was closer. This would be a regular breakfast spot for me if I could find time to come. The bathroom was tidy and clean. The guy at the hosts desk isn't best suited to provide an overall first impression. The valet were ok but not great. Once you get passed that, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The food was very good. My party and I tried several different items on two separate trips. The burrata was amazing, avocado toast is good, and so was the burrata toast with prosciutt, the kimchi chicken sandwich was delicious and the Salmon dish was so tasty. We were seated outdoors both times in two different areas of the restaurant. You cannot beat the views. It is so comfortable and inspires such a peaceful calm to be seated outdoors in the shade around the greenery and nature. We recently visited Cafe on 27 to celebrate both my birthday and my husband's, and the place itself is absolutely beautiful. The view is surrounded by nature, with fresh air and a vibrant atmosphere--it truly feels like you're enjoying your coffee in a treehouse. For the ambiance alone, it's definitely a 5-star experience However, we were quite disappointed with the service. The lady at the front (I believe her name was Panes) was not accommodating. We were seated in a secluded corner, and when I politely requested to move to a different spot, she refused and said certain areas were not open yet. This was especially frustrating since I made our reservation a week in advance for a special birthday celebration. It also wasn't busy--we arrived around 10 AM on a Monday--so the lack of flexibility was disappointing. Unfortunately, the service didn't improve from there. Our server was not attentive and only came to us once, when we asked for the bill. As for the food, it was just okay--nothing particularly memorable or "wow." Came here in the morning for breakfast. My partner and I had reservations because we heard online that it gets pretty packed, which it did and luckily got seated quickly. I didn't expect the views to be nice, but wow when we walked to our seat i was so excited. Our seat was like bar style but instead of there being the bar/bartender, we got such an amazing view of nature. We both shared a Mommy's choice and a Crab cale Benedict. The pancakes were really delicious! It was very fluffy and soaked the maple syrup wonderfully. I usually prefer my pancakes when they soak up the maple syrup before so that usually determines whether if its good or not. Moreover, the crab cake Benedict was amazing. I was a bit skeptical because I usually don't like Benedict due to the bread they use could be slightly too tough, but the bread here was amazing. Same goes with the potatoes. I was wondering what they did because the fried potatoes were slightly crunchy on the outside and very soft, like mashed potatoes, and fluffy. Parking is alongside the street, we had no issues but it is limited so plan in advance if you are coming at a peak time. Service is friendly, a bit slow but it's a gorgeous place so we didn't mind waiting. Ambiance is increíble, wow! It has amazing views and tons of seating that overlook the scenery. My mother was visiting Los Angeles and we spent a couple of nights in Topanga. I heard how quaint cafe on 27 was so we had dinner there on Saturday night. We were totally impressed by the service from the host at arrival to the servers and bussers. They were all so sweet and I have to say very attractive!! Food was perfect, had the ribs which were HUGE and tasty. The Dubai Chocolate cake was to die for. And of course the views which the cafe is famous for were beautiful. Will be back for sure. The rave was about the atmosphere and scenic views but up upon my arrival I was disappointed to see that the food menu was absurdly expensive with a joke of a valet parking service. On top of the expensive prices the food was so bland and dry. The area where it's located is forestry which is the whole gimmick yet it stunk like sewage. The total for one waffle and two drinks came up to $40. Waste of money and time. Absolutely no originality inside of the café. Every sticker and shirt was made by AI and the smell of the merchandise shop reminded me of my granny's last days. Absolutely ridiculous bathroom size, for the entire restaurant there was only three stalls available. Bathrooms were gender, neutral so both male and female had to use the same stalls. We had reservations at Cafe on 27 (which I highly recommend because the group of 7 in front of us was quoted an hour wait ). Immediately felt like we made a power move. First of all, the views? Unreal. The weather? Even better. It was pushing 85° back home, but it was a perfect 74° outside with a light breeze. We started with the kofta tagine and cauliflower pizza, and not only were they delicious, the tagine came out in the cutest little clay pot like okay presentation, I see you . We cleared those plates embarrassingly fast. No regrets. For mains, my husband got the Dreamwich which was super flavorful and solid... but let's be real, my Wispy Crispy Wich absolutely stole the show. Sweet, tangy, a little kick, every bite was doing the most in the best way. First time at cafe on 27 and it was absolutely delightful. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because our reservation was never found even though I placed the reservation on March 4th but I never received a confirmation and didn't take a picture of the screen when I made said reservation. So the difference between having a reservation and not is that we were seated at a shared table as a group of 5. Whereas a reservation will get you a table out looking the greenery view of Topanga. I don't know if it was a glitch within the reservation app or user error. Nonetheless we had a wonderful time. All our drinks were delicious. I personally had a chai latte with oat milk and it was superb. Others ordered cappuccinos and vanilla lattes and they also enjoyed their drinks. We ordered different plates and basically shared. Starting with the avocado toast with a side of patatas bravas. Let me tell you The plenty avocado toast is by far the best I've had. Someone had reviewed it as the toast being too hard but mine was perfectly crunchy I definitely recommend you trying it and if you're sharing order the second toast slice. Other plates on the table were the French toast with berries, lobster Benedict, classic egg's Benedict, kofta tagine, and steak and eggs. Everyone at my table enjoyed the food. It all looked amazing as well. They also have a little gift shop where you can buy coffee beans from Honduras and Peru, a lot of stones, stickers and jewelry. The valet makes it easy to pull in and walk into the restaurant as Topanga is busy. So I recommend using it, it's $10 plus any tip. Overall it was a great outdoor dining experience, minus the little mosquitos but that's just nature. Go at least once to find out what the hype is about. read more

The food was good just not the best in my opinion for the cost. What a find-- i've been in LA for 9 years and had never explored topanga canyon. it's a perfect way to spend the day. Arrived to Cafe 27 on a Saturday around 2pm, there was a 15 min wait but then seated promptly in the beautiful restaurant. Staff was super friendly from the start, i brought my large german shepherd and got the perfect table with a lot of space around us. We had the most delicious pastrami sandwich, and lobster eggs benedict-- both were great but recommend the pastrami the most. Vibes impeccable, food delicious. A little pricey (~$27-$33 for entrees) but well worth it for the experience and you can tell they use the best and freshest ingredients, naming the sources on the menu. The burger was seasoned well just cooked a little too much so I would ask for medium rare next time and the vegan club was pretty tasty! The fries had no flavor unfortunately maybe salting them when they are cooked would make a difference. The waffle was also kinda stale it lacked the warm fluffiness and flavors waffles have but I loved the espresso cream on top! We also got the mint cucumber lemonade which was good. The best customer service ever -- everyone was so kind and welcoming. We ordered the pastrami egg sandwich, but unfortunately the pastrami was very hard to chew, so we brought it up just to let them know. We weren't even asking for anything in return, but they kindly asked if we wanted something else instead. We said no, we just wanted to give feedback, and they still gave us a 30% discount, basically taking one of the meals off the bill. I've had bad experiences at other restaurants before where staff and management argued with us and we ended up leaving hungry after paying a lot of money. My group got the spiced meatballs, salmon, and steak hash. My personal favorite of the bunch was the steak hash, the chunks of steak presented nicely with the poached egg and potatoes makes for a delicious bite. Each plate was very solid. The service was nice. I might not come back often with the prices, but I do recommend trying it still to have a special dining experience. Try to snag reservations if you can to avoid the lines! I'm conflicted. The food here is a 2 or 3 at best, the view and ambience are a 5. I read the reviews that the food is mediocre, so we went safe and got an avocado toast, fries and cappuccinos. Even that, it was not good. You're def paying for the ambiance and just edible food. Just FYI, the avocado toast comes with charcoal bread. According to our server, the bread is colored with dye and is literally black in color. It looks very unappealing and def cannot be good for you. We didn't know, but I recommend swapping it for regular bread. We sat at the counter, and the views were immaculate. It is def a place try because of the unique views and ambiance. read more

Came here for a nice day out as a brunch spot with the girls. We had always wanted to try Cafe 27 and we finally did and was not disappointed. We each ordered iced lattes, and I chose to add vanilla to mine. It was a nice simple vanilla latte to sip on while we waited for our main courses. It was the perfect amount of sweet too for my taste buds. For my lunch, I got the pastrami paradise. I love a good hot pastrami sandwich and the ingredients were balanced well. It's a simple sandwich too, not too much going on inside it so each bite tastes exactly as what you see in it. The fried egg was so delicious in it and that's what cinched the decision to get this sandwich. When we sat to eat, it was more lunch time than breakfast, but it's like I still got to enjoy breakfast as well. The staff was great too, attentive when you needed them and very patient. I really really wanted to like this cafe but the food was not great, we order the Eggs Benedict, Steak and Hash and Mommy's combo. It didn't leave us with the wow factor. The hostesses were the waitress, I was a bit confuse on that part, we asked for coffee refill instead of getting us coffee she sat more people. We asked another hostess/waitress she said you need to ask your waitress, instead of saying let me get your waitress or let her know. They brought the check quicker than the coffee.
