Really bad food. I ordered eggplant Parmesan and it was horrible. I come from nyc and am amazed that anyone can recommend their food

I believe this place changed ownership within the past 5 years. If not, something else happened because it just hasn't been the same. It used to have fine food and a fancy atmosphere, but now it's only good for the window seats in the front. I've been served undercooked/partially frozen food twice now. A breakfast pastry was still frozen. An entre of Ravioli had only four small pieces in it - it was barely an appetizer. The breadsticks are truly lacking and often served cold. I bet I could find them at Costco in the freezer isle. My order has been wrong twice, as well. This used to not be the case as it formerly felt like a fine dining establishment. The only thing I can recommend are the pizzas - they have been, for me, consistently good and unique. read more

I haven't made many posts in the last several months because we are eating cleaner and I cook at home almost every night. When my husband suggested picking up something last night, I caved and I am so glad I did! I had heard good things about Cafe Piazza and I am glad I finally gave them a try. Also, glad they have carry out. I ordered meat ravioli, smoked chicken and cheese ravioli (ravioli came with fantastic bread sticks) and a wedge salad. Not only was the food wonderful but it was ready at exactly the time they said I could pick it up, Pat was sooooo nice and they had notes of thanks written on each container. This was our first time trying Cafe Piaza. The BBQ pizza was ok but had very little meat or cheese on it. The crab ravioli was ok but needed more sauce. The toasted ravioli was average but the marinara dipping sauce was nice. MiMi's chicken salad was honestly awful, the chicken was bitter and tasted liked canned, and smelled like tuna. In addition, it was dry with no mayo or salad dressing and was served with 1 cherry tomato, 1 piece of diced celery, about 4 pieces of walnut and 3 grape halves. The crostini was the only edible part of the dish. Overall, we were very disappointed with the food we had delivered, both the flavor and portions were lacking. read more

Had dinner here about a month ago. We are new to the area and are in dire need to find our "Italian Restaurant". Well unfortunately this wasn't it. The food was way too generic and the Old Fashion was not good at all. The service was decent and the location is pretty awesome! I don't plan on going back any time soon. So Friday lunch-out with my co-workers, and we decided on this place as it's located close to work. The Café's location is right across from the train tracks (so there was the occasional noise as a train rumbled on by) and charmingly situated in an older style southern house, so it didn't feel like we were in a formal sort of a restaurant-place, and I liked that hospitable feeling. Our server showed us to a table situated in the sun-flooded patio and so it just really felt super nice and comfortable. For drinks, I got iced-tea, which was super delicious - perfect amount of the black tea earthiness cut by the sugar. For entree, I got a really awesome roasted bell pepper and smoked Gouda soup. The soup had these bits of warm tomato floaters, and when those pieces burst unexpectedly in your mouth, it was a lovely tangy combination against the roast pepper and smoked Gouda. I would totally get this again, despite how much cream it also probably had in it!! Absolutely 5 stars on the soup. But unfortunately food wise, it was all fairly downhill from that point onwards for me. Another co-worker got an entrée of the BBQ shrimp with crostini. There was a lot of shrimp, so that was unexpectedly nice, and the shrimp was also cooked perfectly, not overdone. But I didn't like the sauce it was in - the oil tasted off and the accompanying crostini didn't do any favours for the shrimp dish. I didn't feel like pizza or pasta, so decided to get the Portobello Panini and pasta salad. Right, so now I am going to go on a mini-rant about that pasta salad which accompanied my Panini and tasted really really horrid, so you have been warned! The pasta was dry, hard and felt stale. The sundried tomatoes tasted like cardboard bricks (alternatively hard and the squishy!) and the olives were flavourless. Frankly, I would have preferred not to have been given this at all, rather than food that was so flovourless. In comparison, the Portobello Panini at least had good flavor, but it was uneven. Some parts of my panini were all bread and the mozzarella was cut up into small bits - I was expecting proper mozzarella balls and because it was cut up - again it was uneven in taste, because some bites I got the mozzarella and some I didn't. I also wish there had been more of the mushroom filling present in my panini. I only ate half of my panini as I wanted some dessert. I got the cheesecake which tasted like a cookie-cutter version from a food conglomerate (yes, will not get this again) but a co-worker got the most delicious Tiramisu (as good as anything I have tasted in Italy) and so this is something I would totally get. Everything about that Tiramisu tasted fresh and vibrant and my co-worker was happy to share, so the meal ended on a semi-good food note. I do want to come back and try a pizza here (not sure if would get pasta!), and of course that divine Tiramisu, so will update my review then, but until then this visit only rated 3 stars due to the uneven quality. You can enjoy dinner with a view, or even take a lovely evening stroll once dinner is done! We arrived, were greeted by the friendly hostess, and seated immediately. Our server was attentive and kind through our entire dining experience. Let's talk food. We started with toasted ravioli & a pizza to share. We ordered a wedge salad, and for dinner had the crab ravioli w/ Alfredo sauce. All of our food was fresh and tasty. Everything that was supposed to be hot was HOT! (Who likes cold food?)-- NO ONE! I was again impressed with the wine list. It really seemed like they had something for everyone. From red to white - which is important. Definitely a top spot in Collierville when it comes to Italian restaurants. Very nice quaint location with open windows and scenic view. Food comes out piping hot. Service was excellent. The service was good, food very mediocre, but the worse is the management. After ordering desert and coffee waitress comes back to tells us the restaurant is closed. Manager then comes out to explain they have to close because they open early the next day for brunch. I get it if we were late arrivals, camped out for hours but we arrived at 8 and they're running us out at 915 and on FRIDAY night. Really? This place is a little jewel right off of the Collierville Town Square. Last saturday my mother and I had lunch here after we had gotten our nails done. I have been here before with my family for dinner so this was not my first time to eat at this quaint place. It was such a treat to eat here with my mother. We both enjoyed a glass of wine while we waited on our meal. We both ordered the roasted red pepper and gouda bisque soup. Let me just tell you...it was to die for!! It was the BEST soup I have had in quit sometime. I was sad when it was all gone. When I get sad when my food is gone, I know I love it and want more! So good. We shared the Piazza pizza. We were going to get our own pizza but so glad we shared. One of their pizza's is enough for two people. We ate it all! It was so delicious. This restaurant is located in a house on thr Collierville square. It is kind of nice inside, but I also felt like the floors were not quite level. The food was Italian based. We had an artichoke dip and anti pastas platter for starters. Bother were excellent. Then we had a pizza (not so good...hard cracker like crust....my son described it as the complete oposite of Chicago style pizza...and not in a good way). Then we had dessert. I've been to cafe piazza many times in the past and had great experiences. Today, I ordered a chicken Alfredo and was served what seemed to be two frozen meals slapped on my plate. I just got back from a date night at Cafe Piazza, and wasn't disappointed. To start, we had the crab& artichoke dip, which was great. It was creamy, but not obnoxiously cheesy. The bread was also excellent. For the main course, I got the Southwestern pizza, and would recommend it. The pizza itself is very good: think crust and crunches. It's not greasy at all. The toppings were tasty, as well. My girlfriend had a salad, which was good, but unremarkable. For dessert, we had the banana pudding was cake, which is exactly what it sounds like: cake with banana pudding on top. It was fantastic, very moist with real bananas, not just flavoring. The only downside was a not-so-great table right by the door, which took away from the atmosphere a little. All in all, it's a great local restaurant serving some great food! read more

We had dinner at Cafe Piazza a couple of weeks ago and it was wonderful. Rick was our server and did a terrific job and the food was great. However, today was a completely different experience. My wife and her friend from out of town had lunch and it was, as my wife put it, THE WORST lunch she has ever had with her friend, and was embarrassed to have even recommended the place. Service was terrible and the food was subpar at best. They ordered 2 glasses of the house chardonnay and the server told them they were completely out, so they ordered another white wine. It was a bit too sweet, so Rick, the bartender, came out and plopped 2 glasses of white he claimed to be chardonnay, only it was identically tasting to the 2 glasses my wife and her friend ordered earlier. Rick became agitated, and told them he just opened a fresh bottle of chardonnay for them and stormed off. I suppose this behavior paved the way for the server to treat my wife and her friend rudely for the remainder of the meal. They ordered the walnut pizza and lobster ravioli (lobster rav was absolutely disgusting), and as they were eating their second slice of pizza, the server came out and asked them if they wanted her to box up the rest. It would have been obvious to anyone they were not done eating at this point, but whatever. The server presented the check, and my wife asked if they could get desert. They ordered the chocolate lava cake that tasted like a sponge that had been sitting out all morning, my wife and her friend told the server it was terrible. The server said "oh sorry" dropped the check and walked away. I expect this kind of service at Perkins or Golden Coral, it is beyond troubling for a restaurant of this caliber. I am saddened by this because we wanted to put Cafe Piazza in our dining rotation, as Collierville doesn't have many good, small biz restaurants. I can only hope for Cafe Pizza's sake, this was just an anomaly and not the norm. read more

Finally made it to actually eat inside restaurant instead of getting takeout. Invited friends to join Husband and me for my 42nd birthday dinner. Service was spot on and my albacore salad was great Husband enjoyed his spaghetti and meatballs. Our friends devoured their Piazza pizza. Brought our own wine but s $10 cork fee is not bad at all. We went a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night when it was supposed to be 25 percent capacity. The restaurant was nearly full and sitting on top of each other. We felt like the server was trying to hurry us to order as soon as we sat down. Salad was ok, Ordered garlic breadsticks and they were frozen bread sticks with red sauce out of a jar. The pizza we ordered was worse than a frozen pizza the chicken was like leather and the crust was like eating cardboard. We had wine and the frost two glasses were good, ordered a third of the same wine and it tasted completely different. Called and talked with a manger he offered a meal next time we said no thanks! My wife and I have dined here since shortly after they opened. I'm going to venture a guess that we've been here at least thirty times over the years and we have never had anything less than a great experience. In fact, this is one of the few restaurants which keeps getting incrementally better and better over the years. Their entrees are fantastic and their appetizers rock as well. Our favorite is their spinach and artichoke dip with crustinis for an appetizer and the walnut brie pizza. Probably the best thing about Cafe Piazza is their consistently excellent wait staff. Again ... we've never had less than great service there. Last night when we were there, the wait staff was really on point - they were hustling and getting folks taken care of quickly and they made it seem effortless. Our waitress, Kathleen, was simply incredible - and she even gave us a suggestion on something new to try with our pizza - and it was amazing! This young lady was top notch - as are all of the waiters and waitresses there. Try this place if you haven't. You'll be glad you did - it's a regular favorite of ours. read more

I always get their alfredo pasta every time. In addition, they have the BEST SOUP I'VE EVER HAD. All of the soups are fantastic. The owner and his nephew, Gino, know how much I love the soup and as a moving away gift, they specifically made my favorite soup (smoked gouda, even when it wasn't the soup of the day) and sent me home with the extra... I loved the meat ravioli! It was a little high in calories, but it was worth it! I didn't feel stuffed or disgusting afterward - their portions are just right. I've also tried a few of their desserts in the past and I've never been unhappy. The staff is always awesome. The restaurant is in this cute little house and the decor is great. I just don't get it. The building is charming, and, sadly, that's really all I didn't regret about my decision to try this. For the prices, one should expect a much higher quality from the food than I experienced. We started with the bruschetta and the artichoke dip. The bruschetta was made on stale toast rounds...with CANNED tomatoes, rather than fresh!!! It was warm and unpleasant. The artichoke dip was warm and gooey and lacked flavor. For my entree I chose the blue crab ravioli, which was really disappointing. The crab was sparse. The homemade pasta was cooked slightly shy of al dente, which resulted in a chewy weirdness that I'd prefer to never experience again. And the Alfredo sauce was salty and strange, more like an ultra-creamy béchamel with a hint of Parmesan than a traditional Alfredo sauce. We stopped by for a late lunch with my daughter and my twin grandsons. While this may not be the most kid friendly place, ( white table cloths and all) everyone there was so accommodating. The food was great we had the artichoke crab appetizer and it was delicious! Our sweet waitress suggested the the penne Alfredo for the boys and they loved it! I had a chicken salad that was delicious while my husband and daughter had the pimento cheese panini. I was in town for the weekend visiting family, and I had heard my mom mention this place several times, so I wanted to try it. Plus I love any place located on the adorable town square. My mom and I usually have very different taste than my dad, but this place had something for everyone. He was able to get spaghetti and meatballs while we got salads and sandwiches. I had a vegetable panini with a pasta salad side, and it was excellent! It far exceeded my expectations. The tomatoes on the sandwich were some of the freshest I have had, especially this time of year. Portions were large for the price, and at first, I expected to need a to go box. We are new to Collierville and wanted to try a local restaurant for our anniversary weekend and heard about Cafe Piazza. I would love to be giving a review on the food, but we didn't make it that far. I called as soon as they opened to make a reservation for that night and was told they do not take reservations on the weekend, which I totally understand. We decided to try anyway knowing there would be a wait which was fine. We arrived and were told by one of the staff that the wait would be about 20-25 minutes, which was great! We said we would take first available. About 30 minutes later, another couple came in and spoke to a different staff member and asked what the wait was and they were told an hour. They then asked about seating on the patio and they were seated immediately outside. By then, a 3rd staff member was at the desk and I asked if the patio was open seating - she said no, unless you had a reservation then it would be about an hour wait. I told her that I called that morning and was told they do not take reservations on weekends. She then told me that yeah, we get that a lot, but we do take reservations and apologized for the confusion. We continued to wait until another couple came in, spoke to the same staff member that seated the couple outside and asked about the wait, then asked about sitting outside and the server seated that couple immediately. At this point, we had been waiting almost an hour. We decided the confusion was not worth it so we left. I understand if they were short handed and we do not mind waiting at all. But there does not seem to be any system or communication between the staff regarding seating. It all depended on who happened to be manning the hostess station when guests came in. I love the atmosphere at the restaurant, the building is charming and it has a nice view of the Collierville town square. The staffs were really nice and friendly. It's a fine example of the southern hospitality. We started off with the cheese artichoke dip and it was absolutely wonderful for a cold night. I had their lasagna and it was delicious. I finished every last bite of it. For dessert, we had lemon cream cake. It was so soft and fluffy, I have to say it's almost heavenly. There was a bit of a wait since they don't seems to have a lot of tables for large groups. After tasting the food, I would think it's totally worth it. read more
