We grabbed lunch at Cafe Rustica after spending the morning at the refugue. The service was ok. It took awhile for our orders to be taken and then filled. The server refilled our waters. I had a burger. They do not offer gluten-free bread so I just had it on lettuce. They serve butter lettuce so it actually could be used as a bun alternative. The burger was grilled and was cooked medium rare as I requested. It needed sauce for flavor. It was accompanied by a large helping of french fries. My daughter had the salmon sandwich. It came with a side salad. I thought the salad was very tasty. She enjoyed the sandwich.

    Spinach salad & pizza Napolitano

We sat outside last night under the heat lamps, which kept us warm. I enjoyed the napolitano pizza and had the leftovers for lunch today. Dad's partner and I shared a spinach salad. She had Jose's pizza and dad had the pork chop. My dad also ordered the Tuscan white bean soup (one of the specials) but they forgot to bring it out. Waitress was friendly. Yesterday could have been an off night but we would still come back when we're in Carmel.

Stopped by after wine tasting and live music. This place actually seems to be the most happening and packed spot in the area. No reservations but got here when they opened so we chose to sit outside. Greeted fast and nicely and seated to our choice. Great host. Immediately got a waiter to check in. He was pretty nice and awesome. We started with bread and butter which was great and a Cesar salad. The salad was almost perfect. House made croutons would have made it flawless. Got the dynamite with extra cheese and the pork medallions. The pizza was decent. Fresh ingredients and cheesy. Now if you follow me you know I rate a lot of pizza spots. So my nitpicks are the pizza had almost no sauce. So it was more like pizza bread. Considering how fast it came out. They could have done a little extra cook so that it came out gooey. But it was a lil cooler and hard. Other than that it's a good pie. Thin crispy. Good ingredients. Best in Carmel valley. Just not the best. Or near or. Pork medallions were delicious. The size portion flavor was good and the pile high of spinach was great as I love spin. Only issue. They advertised it with potatoes. But it was not mash potatoes. It was yams. To sweet for me. Either way. It's a great spot with good service and food. I wish I could give them a five if they adjusted some things

A hidden gem in the serene, pastoral village of Carmel Valley. Excellent dishes. The Hungarian goulash has red pepper. It is made with pot roast. I did not expect spinach soup; it was the highlight of my meal. It is to die for. It was not expensive for this special soup. The passion fruit sorbet and the latte were an excellent ending to my meal. Our waiter made some suggestions. He was friendly. It is a small restaurant. We had reservations, as it is very popular. There is plenty of outside seating. As it was a cool day, we sat inside. It was a long trip, but worth it.

Wow! What a great place...from the moment we walked in, we knew we found our kind of place. The inside is cozy and warm. The staff were amazing and so accommodating. And the food...outstanding! I highly recommend making reservations. We arrived at 5:00pm and they said they had two seats at the bar open, so we enjoyed a bottle of wine and the clam appetizer, then ordered a pizza to take back to the inn we were staying at.

We ordered the soup of the day which I believe was a mushroom soup, Smoked Salmon on Crème Fraiche, Crispy Calamari Cattleman's Rib Eye Steak, and a kids pasta with marinara sauce (huge portion) for our main meal. Dessert we had the gelato and the root beer float. The pizza was phenomenal.

Yummy. The mushroom pizza could have used a pesto sauce to give it some more flavor, but we were all fans. Great outdoor environment.

We got the patty melt fries and a banana walnut pancake and I got the tuna melt and a side of chilli. The brisket chilli was really really good, and the sandwiches were amazing. The pancakes smell so good we all gasped when they brought it out. The potions are very large so honestly you could split every meal besides maybe the skillet dish. But every sandwich our table got was huge and all tbe food was really well made. For the price it was also very worth it. The place is surrounded by a nice walkable area and the resturant itself is very cute, I was expecting a random restaurant along the road but it has a very aesthetic design here. You could easily come here for an elevated but not crazy fancy brunch and enjoy the day.

The fun artwork and paintings throughout the restaurant added so much personality and made the space even more enjoyable. We started with the duck pâté and bread. The pâté was silky smooth with just a hint of sweetness, paired perfectly with the toasted bread. It literally melted in your mouth. The octopus with bean and honey sauce was another standout. The sauce complemented the octopus beautifully. The octopus itself was incredibly tender and soft -- not chewy at all -- and honestly reminded me of some amazing octopus I had while visiting Portugal. The mussels came in a very generous portion, and the tomato sauce was so good you could drink it by itself. For our mains, we had the sea scallops and the seared tuna, and both dishes were excellent. Everything tasted fresh, thoughtful, and well executed. The coffee and tea cups were the Bodum brand, great quality, double-lined, and they kept the drinks warm while still being comfortable to hold. Definitely a memorable dinner in Pacific Grove, and I'd gladly come back again.

When I looked at OpenTable, there were no reservations available that night, but I called to make a reservation. I think we might have been able to walk in, as when we got there at 6 pm, there were still some tables available. They have a sign in front that says, "Do not seat yourself," which made me wonder how much that happens! I ordered the asparagus and beet salad to start out, and it was really delicious. I chose the rock cod as my entree, and it was fine, but I did feel like it was a little bit bland. It also came covered in greenery, which didn't really add anything to the taste. The capers and artichokes in the sauce were good, but the rest of the sauce was less exciting. I probably should have ordered the duck! I tried my mom's duck, and it was delicious. The side of Brussels sprouts were delicious as well. And the chocolate pot de creme was really outstanding. I would definitely try a different entree if I returned, but everything else was really good. The service was very nice as well. This is a cute place that would be fun for a nice romantic dinner!

It should be featured on Guy Fiery's "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" The place is always packed so we joined the "wait list" online while we were driving in When we got to the restaurant we only had to wait 5 minutes. Our waiter Cesar was great, very personable as well as efficient. The food came out quickly and was paced well since we had an appetizer. Started with the Lumpia which is basically a Philippino style egg roll. Super delicious and very large so you only need to order one trust me. I had the Carne Asada Fried rice. Their Verde sauce was nice and tangy. The meat was seasoned very well and there was a ton of it on the rice. I great dish I would order again. Hubby had the French Dip sandwich. He said the bun was nice and soft and the sandwich was wonderful. The meat was very lean, which he is very picky about. The fries were off the hook just crunchy enough and not over salted. The fish and chips is the ultimate meal. The burger was savory, soft and creamy just he right amount. It perfectly paired with the Talbott pinot noir they recommended. The only comment is make is the amount of French fries that were served with the burger. The plate was a lot larger looking because a sparse amount of fries was served alongside. Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. They said both items we ordered were the most popular. The fish and chips have won best fish and chips 3 years in a row. I would agree with this since I usually am not wowed with this dish.
