located in renton, this cafe is truly a hidden gem. It's a very comforting and cozy family-run restaurant. The portions here are huge and so worth it. I recommend trying a variety of their mezzos dips along with pita. You also can't go wrong with any of their meat skewer dishes. We had several dentist appointments this summer and drove by the "coming soon" signs over and over. Finally it opened so we tried it. There was a bit of a language barrier but as one other reviewer mentioned that just added to the authenticity. I ordered the chicken gyro plate and my wife had the shrimp plate. She loved my chicken and especially my rice, and also my bread. I ate her shrimp. I don't normally order shrimp but this shrimp was delicious. She felt it's a bit pricey (got fewer shrimps than in the picture) but it was really flavorful and everything is getting more expensive these days. My wife usually prefers Vietnamese or Thai food so I was surprised she actually requested we go here again. This time we got takeout chicken gyro plate (again) and beef gyro wrap. When we got home we realized the rice was missing (and my wife really likes that rice). I called and the owner (I'm guessing) seemed very disappointed we didn't get rice and even offered to deliver it. I went back to pick it up. Both the man and woman (I assume they are owners because they care so much) were very nice and friendly to me even though I was basically a complaining customer. One of the most delicious home cooked Turkish food restaurants I have ever tried! You can tell they have fresh ingredients and everything tastes authentic. So far my husband and I did a take out and we cannot wait to be back for more. I really wanted to try this place after seeing a few videos on Instagram, I was kind of overwhelmed because everything looked really nice on the menu. Which was very disappointing on meat temperature. I like my meat, medium rare. But on the kebab plate, all was very dry and not even hot as I'm used to eating my meat.. no flavor no problem, but serve it fresh, felt like it was just warm up.. plate it was described it can feed up to four people, yes for people, but not generous amounts at all. The bread was kind of chewy, nothing to die for, but the cucumber yogurt tasted little like fridge, like been seating in fridge for days. Not sure ill give them a try again. read more

How should we start this review.......we'll the restaurant and food is awesome! It's not very often I would say that about any restaurant. So Yelp suggest we talk about food, service and ambiance. Let me talk about the food. So far everything we tried, especially the beef Shish kabob! My goodness! Tender, big juicy chucks of 1 inch pieces of beef!!! Holy molly! Mouth watering beef! Fresh veggies and the beautiful tasteful rice! You can eat the rice alone! YUM! We've tried several of the pide. The ground beef, yum! The spinach gozmele, delicious! The soujouk pide! It's like a pepperoni pizza but it's on a bread that is soft yet toasty at the same time! The cheese when bitten into is ooozziiee of goodness! The Mediterranean salad is a delight. The mix grill is a good sharing plate if you want to try some of the main meats. The Lamb chops kabob was good according to my wife. I did take a bite, and it was tasty and juicy! The Chix Shish kebab was good. The grilled shrimp was a nice choice for seafood. Ambiance! The lighting we love. The colors is so delightful. The fireplace is a nice touch and gives a sense of warmth! The top of the area where you can see the employees cooking the food is open and awesome. You can see one of the cooks shaving pieces of meat off the spits turning in the kitchen. Since it's fall and soon winter the bathrooms at least the men is cold, but the toilet seats have a bidet. At least that what it looks like unless the controls on the seat cover is to rise and lower the toilet seat! So ambiance is a nice feel. Service! It is a hit or miss. Zelena, is usually or always there. There is also a gentleman there who takes orders as well. But Zelena is usually who we order from. From the last time Zelena took our order she mentioned that Cafe Sabah is looking for wait staff. Like everyone else, help is needed. Ok back to service. Like I said hit or miss. Sometimes we are payed attention to. Talked to. But sometimes when a restaurant has tables of customers it gets hectic and understand being under staffed is still an ongoing problem in the food service industry! Now desserts! We've tried tiramisu, German cake, baklava, and our favorite pistachio kadaif! YUM! With the desert you should get that Turkish coffee! A nice way to end the meal!!! It wasn't crowded (5:30pm on a Thursday night), so I have no idea why we were being ignored. Except that my partner and I are an obviously gay couple. Found myself in Renton and had had my eye on this restaurant though bit far from home. Turns out it is worth a drive if it entails one. Very nice spacious place. And the staff is very attentive. Menu has many Turkish specialties. I got the Mediterranean salad, hummus served with house made bread. Entree was beef shish kabob served with pickled onions, a roasted tomato , roasted green pepper and rice. That pepper was pretty hot especially if you eat the seeds. This was all washed down with a lightly sweetened iced tea. Everything was very good. Finished with a very good carrot cake. My friend had the lamb chops that I did not try but she said very good. First time trying Turkish food and I unfortunately was unimpressed. That being said, i came for lunch and got the most Western-like dish you could get: beef wrap with fries. However, compared to other halal wraps I've had, this wrap was extremely bland and lacked fresh veggies or sauce to complement the meat. The fries were also not seasoned at all. Cafe Sabah is a pleasant surprise on the east hill of Renton. After our third visit, I can say the food is spot on. I recommend the Beef Tongue Soup. Fresh ingredients only in all dishes. Totally scratch kitchen happening here. I had a lunch with my wife and a friend and ordered 1 Mediterranean Salad that never came, 2 fries added to to our order when we ordered only 1, 1 rice that I never ordered. two chicken chops, one cheese roll and two coffees. My friend paid for all his meals and other appetizers and dessert. The waitress came with the machine and charged ~120.00. My stupidity I know! For not asking to see the check, but we waited for the check for a long time that we were late and in hurry for other errands. This is my first time writing a review in my life. I had to address the service we (4 of us) received was by far the worst. Never had experienced this aggressive, slow & unvalued service. We didn't get any plates to eat to begin with. We requested later and we got two.(4 of us) One of the food we came in was wrong order and the manager got us the right order and blamed us! And then he fake laughed. The restaurant had only very few customers and for god knows what reason none of the staff came in and checked on us if we needed anything. We were exhausted from a flight on Thanksgiving day. We yelped nearby restaurants open and found Cafe Sabra. We thought it was funny that we could have Turkish food on Turkey day. Thank God the menu had pictures because we were clueless on what to order. We ordered the beef gyro plate and chicken gyro plate and a Turkish soda pop Uli Dag. The soda tasted like a fruit 7up- very good. Both our meals were so yummy! The rice was cooked perfectly. The meat was wonderfully seasoned and fat free. It was basically a deconstructed gyro. The great sauce was doner, not tzatziki dauce. There is a thin piece of My husband gobbled his down and I had leftovers for 2 meals. The flavor was so good! I appreciate that either meat had zero fat on them. We were the only white people there ; the other tables were full of people who knew more than we did and were speaking in different languages.
