Oh my. I was passing by Bakersfield and was looking for a place that had Matcha and found this one. At first, I wasn't aware that it was sort of like a café/restaurant set up so that made me a little nervous, but the Matcha ended up being really good! I got a Matcha latte with rose syrup. The second thing I ordered was an almond banana toast. I didn't get to open my box before I left, but as soon as I opened it, I was disappointed because it was small and it was eight dollars! I also thought that it was on a hard sourdough bread or something of that nature because it looked really toasty. Like the kind of toasty that you might break a tooth on. Let me tell you, though, I quickly changed my mind when I took the first bite. IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH THOSE EIGHT DOLLARS!! That toast was the best toast I've ever had! And the bread wasn't what I expected. It was sort of like on a raspberry or blueberry or raisin loaf. Still not sure but it was not dry or too toasty at all! Anyways, you guys have to try it! I am a regular at Cafe Smitten. I really love this spot, first off the service is great. All the employees are awesome not only do they look super cool they are great workers and the company does a great job at hiring. There is outside seating in the front, the indoor area is great for studying/solo dates, & conversations. The outdoor area in the is awesome they have a fire place, heaters, different types of seating. The food is always great, they have a great variety of sandwiches, toasts, & drinks. Very first time here, and I will be returning! The prices are a bit on the pricey side but totally worth it. The food is fresh, healthy and tastes amazing! Well, not only did I like this place but I was super happy to see this kind of a restaurant in Bakersfield. We had a late breakfast on our way out of town, sat outside with the dog in the sunshine and enjoyed ourselves. Small menu but nicely inventive food. I had a mushroom omelette with cheddar served with tomato and cucumber salad. My husband had baked Greek eggs that had halloumi cheese poached eggs tahini was very good. The cappuccino was gorgeously made. Jasmine tea that was looseleaf. Very happy with this spot and if I return to Bakersfield anytime soon, I will definitely come again. I love this cafe! It's so cute and is the perfect little spot to hang out or grab food. My friend took me here for brunch on a Saturday morning. We ordered and found a table right away, so there was minimal wait. There's indoor and outdoor seating, but we opted to sit outside because they had a cute backyard vibe. There's heater lamps outside too, so being chilly wasn't an issue. I ordered a hot chai latte with oat milk and the Moroccan eggs. They food came out quick, and it was delicious. More of a 3 star and here's why : We ordered 3 things to share - 1) quinoa salad - great fresh ingredients, everything was working out when it comes to taste - but why serve it in a tiny plate ? Came here in the morning on a weekday. It was pretty empty, which meant that service was great. Our party of three sat outdoors in the back patio. The ambiance is country but make it chic and modern. We ordered some coffee and burritos. I would say the food was average at best. The latte art was beautiful might I add! Cafe Smitten is one of the only places to come to in the area, if you are used to the LA food scene. I would recommend coming here if you are stopping by.
