Just ok! Went here based on reviews and food was just ok- nothing to rave about but not too bad either. Coffee is a let down, was expecting a delicious brew and I was disappointed. Wow Wow Wow!! Best little gem in Carlsbad for breakfast. We had the double header eggs benedict special and it was soooo delish! My daughter had the banatella pancakes which were also yummy and the blackberry lemonade was really good, but not very large. I would highly recommend this restaurant. read more

This place is delish! We had pancakes, french toast, omelette, and protein pancakes. Everything was SO yummy! We got a side of sausage patties (huge!) and my daughter said it was the best sausage ever! We arrived around 11am for brunch and the cinnamon rolls were already sold out. Next time, we know to arrive earlier! The wait was about 30-40 min after we ordered, which seems to be pretty good for a weekend morning. Staff was friendly. Been here twice for breakfast before heading out to the breweries and it's been great every time. Not much seating, first come, first serve but really nice place for brunch. All the food choices sound amazing. The only compaint is lots of flies buzzing around if your table when you're eating, but what can you do. read more

Came here after reading all the great reviews and left pretty disappointed. First of all, there is a long line out the door - which can be expected on Sunday mornings. What makes this uncomfortable is that you are literally standing right next to people in the outdoor seating area that are eating. Service was fine. Everyone was pleasant. I just don't understand how we were asked to tip before we were served??? On to the food...we ordered The Basic, The 222 and their famous cinnamon roll. I completely understand that these are basic items so we shouldn't expect magic. But we did expect decent eggs, toast, potatoes, bacon...it was all just okay. Eggs were tasteless and lukewarm, potatoes overpowered with garlic and the toast was not toasted...bacon was gummy. I was most looking forward to the cinnamon roll and it was the worst I've had. Very "bready" and dense (not in a good way). Oh and I can't leave out that there were flies everywhere. We will not be back. read more

My family ate here for breakfast and every item we had was wonderful! The eggs Benedict with pulled pork and pineapple was a flavor burst. So creative and perfectly executed. The cinnamon roll was a nice appetizer before our breakfast came but only order one for a table of 4 because they are HUGE. We will be back again and will be telling all of our friends! read more

Incredible food, which is why I give it 3 stars but the lack of clean tables and places to enjoy this amazing food is limited to nonexistent at times. Is a bit pricey and can sometimes have a wait depending on what time of day you go, but it's worth it. Parking could be a slight problem but we always seem to find one. This spot is delicious for breakfast and brunch. You can't go wrong with any of the food or coffee drinks. It's not that big of a restaurant so finding a seat can sometimes be challenging during peak times. There's usually a line out the door too so try and get there early if you're going on a weekend. The line is fairly quick though and worth the wait. read more

Menu is exciting and the kids menu was really good value - giant Mickey pancake, eggs and bacon for $6. My son loved it! Portions are large and flavorful. Café Topes is my favorite spot in Carlsbad. So much so that if I was to ever move, I would still make the trip back just for Topes alone. The owner, the staff, and everyone responsible for this phenomenal eatery go the extra yard every single time. It's not just the food that is delicious, it's the distance they go to be amongst the best. Even during Covid you can catch them sneaking free cinnamon rolls into your bag. Now for those of you who don't understand, giving away free inventory at any point as a restaurant is going the extra yard, but doing it during a covid shutdown is another level of caring. If you read this, go and support. You will at no point be disappointed. These people love their business and customers and it shows. read more

My sister and I had an absolutely fabulous breakfast here on Saturday. There was a line out the door to get in and we weren't sure if we were going to stick around but boy am I glad we did. If you ever get here and there's a long line, trust me it is well worth the wait. First of all their cinnamon roll which you can order "dirty", meaning smothered in their delicious WARM cream cheese frosting is beyond amazing. My sister had the rustic breakfast which was some kind of egg and avocado sandwich with pesto on it and the pesto was some of the best I've ever had. I just added hash browns and bacon with the cinnamon roll and they were perfect. I also had a absolutely delicious lavender lemonade. Go here! read more

I actually checked into this place, but not did not eat here. upon coming to the front door, there was no friendly face directing me on what to do. So I just kind of stood there, and stood there, and stood there. I eventually asked a customer what the procedure was. He was unsure as well, his first time too.
