This was a big disappointment my first time here for mother's day I took my wife here and the limited menu was not even anything impressive and it took 45 minutes to be served after waiting 15 minutes after our scheduled reservation. Further they had a 22 dollar upcharge per person for a all you can eat buffett table which was just a table full of pastries you can get for free from any continental breakfast setup at other upscale hotels. The best thing on the table was chocolate strawberries and to get your money's worth you had to eat 20 of them and the rest were one inch tarts of random berries and a small cheesecake. There's probably good reason this isn't highly reviewed because very few people go here aside from special occasions where other better restaurants are fully booked. It also is why after several years in town I never decided to try this place out because its suspect of being worth trying out. I give one more star over the minimum bec it's not so much the servers fault but just a bad business. read more

Monica was absolutely terrific! She was attentive and was excited to serve with plenty of energy. She gave me excellent advice on what to order even when they did not have the Chicken Marsala available. I would highly recommend the Chicken Piccata. It is light but filling and is packed with flavor. The kitchen was amazing as well. To be able to cook a lightly fried breast in such a short amount of time was impressive. If you struggle to eat greens, then give the broccolini a try as it was perfect. Beautiful layout in this place! Remember when it used to be the Fitzgerald casino years ago. They did an amazing makeover for this place. Seemed more like a high end steakhouse versus a cafe? Service was awesome and sat right down upon arrival without a reservation. Ordered the tomahawk and it was amazing! Tiny bit overcooked but the chef made it up to us with some amazing garlic shrimp. Terrible service. We dropped by on a Sat morning for breakfast, mostly due to positive reviews. We made a reservation for 10:00am to avoid the normal morning wait. It didn't help. We showed up, waited for someone to help. Noticed several waitresses ignoring us. Waited and waited, asked a waitress for help, she said she would get someone. Just about the time we were ready to give up, the receptionist walks by, checks our reservation, it's now 10:15 or so, she tells us that because "we" were late, it will take them some time to clean a table for us. So ok. She finally seats us, and we are subsequently ignored. No coffee order, no hello, nothing. Wait another 10 mins and figured enough was enough, and walked out. It wasn't busy that morning, not sure how these guys get decent reviews. Never again. read more

Love that the Whitney Cafe gives a chance to break away from the noise and lights of the downtown casinos. Tried the macaroni and cheese with burnt ends, generous portion for a starter. This was a wonderful find on our recent trip to Reno. I normally don't go to restaurants in hotels. I'm so glad i broke my rules. We ordered two of the three flatbreads on the menu. They were so delicious. The flatbread was light and fluffy. The toppings were fantastic. The amount hot honey was perfect. I find it can be overpowering at times Tiffany, our waitress, was very friendly and professional. Also, the two cocktails we ordered were very nice. read more

I always love Cafe Whitney so we came in for their St. Patrick's day specials, and I think the thing that really stood out this time was the service. We chose to share the appetizer, entree, dessert, plus a salad, and they split the entree and the salad without charging us a split plate fee. Our server, Amanda, truly anticipated all of our needs in terms of refilling our drinks and quickly taking plates away. The food was all very tasty, especially the corned beef and cabbage special and the mixed green salad. Will definitely be back soon! read more

Always on the hunt for a new brunch spot and Cafe Whitney was up next on my list. I love this hotel-friendly service, dog friendly, beautiful decor-and I was very pleased by their brunch. We started with mimosas-$20 bottomless and $7 single. Jolie was our food server and she was excellent. We had the eggs Benedict served with potatoes and French toast with berries. Jolie recommended a side of lingonberry jame to accompany the French toast and it was delicious. The menu isn't a large one but they have something for all tastes. Highly recommend. read more

No doubt, a five star meal tonight! Let's explain why they deserve five stars shall we? First of all, CHRISTINA our server was just absolutely fabulous. She had a great upsell without high pressure and gave us some great ideas on how to improve our lovely meal. I want to complement the management and the head chef on having such a lovely place to eat In Reno. As well, I complement CHRISTINA. Now let's talk about our meal. The hubby in our party was keen on not sharing his pizza. But let us warn you other hubbies, this pizza is extra large and should be shared. At 16 inches round, there's plenty of pizza for three people. Don't forget to ask for the ranch. Our double cheese pizza had plenty of cheese and we recommend double cheese, onio and basil. Don't forget it's homemade ranch. so definitely ask for a side of ranch to go with your pizza to dip the crust. Let's also talk about the wine list because we had a glass of wine called Conundrum and at nine dollars a glass, that was a great value. I personally did not eat here, although my family did because there was nothing on the menu that I could safely eat due to not being able to eat gluten. Our waitress asked the chef about potatoes and bacon and said they are not gluten free. Then she told me the only safe gluten free options were the chilaquiles and avocado toast. I didn't want eggs bc they don't agree with my stomach. When I asked if they had gluten free bread, she said no just wheat and sourdough, so I could just have avocado.... I also asked about just having yogurt and no granola and she again was told by the chef that it was not gluten free. I'm assuming it's premade with granola. Idk. I wasn't in the mood to educate her or ask further questions. So I drank my water and ate the protein bar that I brought as backup bc better safe than sorry. It is not worth the risk of getting sick for me! My boys enjoyed the pancakes and my husband enjoyed his omelette. read more
