Whitney Café in Reno was such a great experience, and a big part of that was Cristina! She was an absolutely wonderful, caring host who made the night feel extra special. I asked her for a Cabernet recommendation, and she suggested one I hadn't tried before and it was delicious!!! Exactly what I was hoping for and then some. You can tell she really knows her wines and genuinely wants guests to enjoy their experience. Cristina was friendly, helpful, and incredibly kind throughout our visit. Just had a wonderful brunch at Cafe Whitney with my wife...delicious chilaquiles and ham omelette. We also both enjoyed the bottomless mimosas! A full carafe of bubbles is left at the table along with your choice of juice. Our server was Verenise and she was outstanding... our glasses and plates (large portions!) were never empty. Her name is Kayja (got that from the bill) Server checked back to see how every thing is going, but we did not have any food out yet, only my Diet Coke. Food: Brussels very flavorful. Crispy. Sauce is sweet and savory but a bit on the salty side for my taste Ramen noodles had a good texture. The ramen broth lacks body and depth. It was basically miso... no tare. The "soft egg" on the menu was a sunny side up fried egg. The pork belly was pretty good... pan fried. The best component was the corn and broccolini. Value: Not worth cost of the meal. Restroom: No separate restrooms from the hotel Will I come back? I honestly don't I would.  There are other options in the area including casino buffets. read more

I always take my dinner at Whitney Cafe whenever I am in town. My meals have always been fantastic and pleasing. On my most recent visit, Cristina, was kind and attentive. Came here last weekend for breakfast and it wasn't so busy. Our waitress didn't introduce herself and already started with such unwelcoming presence. Seems like her coffee didn't kick in yet. We ordered and patiently waited. About 20mins or so, another family sat next to us and they ordered. They received their food first. Our order wasn't complicating because their food options were very limited. My family and I decided to just leave the place and take the food to-go. We weren't welcomed in the place anyways. The manager stated that KAYJA, our waitress, decided to NOT place in our order once she received it. Manager was nice enough to pack our food and apologize on KAYJA's behalf. She did NOT acknowledge her mistake and just ignored us. Maybe it was some sort of Asian-hate situation going on with her but please provide a different server if she will treat Asian people like this! read more

My friends and I wanted a quick bite to eat before we headed to the UNR soccer game. We popped into Cafe Whitney and ordered the Cauliflower "Wings" and the Frito Misto to share. Our order came quickly and was deeeelish! The batter on both those dishes was seasoned well and really light, not greasy. Kudos to the culinary team. While the food was good, our server was even better! Cristina was attentive, efficient and funny; she made rounds to top off our water, brought our drinks and food out swiftly, and engaged in lively conversation as we joked about recon missions. ;-) Cristina made our night and we'd return to Cafe Whitney specifically to see her again! read more

We stopped in while visiting from out of town, and while the food was decent, it was our waiter Gabe who truly made the experience unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, he was warm, friendly, and incredibly welcoming. He took the time to chat with us, gave us great local recommendations, and even introduced us to the table next to us--who, it turned out, were in town for the same event we were! Gabe went above and beyond, not just in service, but in genuinely connecting with us. He was sweet, kind, and even took the time to interact with our son, which meant a lot. It's rare to find someone who brings that kind of personal touch and positive energy. We came for a meal, but thanks to Gabe, we left with a great memory. Came here for mother's day and was not impressed. They had an ayce dessert bar but there were just mini pastries and chocolate covered strawberries, nothing intriguing. Their Monte Cristo was basic and their fruits were essentially there to garnish the plate because none were sweet and in fact the berries were rotten. Our server lacked a brain too because I asked for the sauces on the side and she completely forgot my request. Had dinner at Cafe Whitney while visiting Reno and was impressed. Delicious food with a nice atmosphere. The dinner was low key, which we really appreciated. Unlike many other restaurants around, it was not crazy loud. The ambiance was nice, and the dining room felt calm and relaxed. The real highlight of the night was our server, Tom. He was super friendly and attentive. We were on the fence about ordering the soup, and he offered to bring us a taste so we could decide, which was a great touch and genuinely appreciated. Reno's Best Restaurant is all I have to say. From the moment you walk in the restaurant the decor and layout is stunning. You're greeted with warmth and professionalism. The freshest and deliciouses menu on the strip. From the waiters suggestions we ordered the teriyaki chicken and flat bread both amazing! No seasoning food was just not good but the resultant was clean and nice with good service

Extremely disappointing experience today for brunch, both food and service. First of all the food was not good in terms of quality and portion. I ordered a hot chai latte in which the cup was half milk foam and only half latte. I had the eggs Benedict in which the eggs and size of the English muffin were the smallest I have ever seen. My husband and I shared the French toast which was flat and soggy. My husband had the turkey club sandwich which looked pretty good. What made the brunch most notably disappointing was the service. Our server, after bringing the food to us, never checked on us during the meal, never came back to our table or offered a coffee refill to my husband until she brought our bill. However she returned to our table within 2 seconds when she saw my husband place his credit card on the table to pay the bill. I was looking forward to trying Cafe Whitney for dinner or their Happy Hour, but I will not be returning. read more

This review is about Cafe Whitney's Happy Hour (Mon - Thurs, 4-6) which we heard so much about. We went yesterday and it did not disappoint! There are several appetizers that are 1/2 off and so are beverages! We both had a Revision IPA and ordered a few things to share. We both loved the Fried Brussels - the korean chili crunch and soy lime glaze made them especially delicious! And until having these, my husband was not a fan of brussels sprouts! We also share their yummy and filling Mushroom Flatbread. The kitchen has a wide open view and we could see them spinning the dough! Lastly, we had the Hamachi Tostada. I would have liked this more if the red onions were sliced very thinly. And I felt it lacked some flavor - even a little salt would have made it taste much better. Our server was great - super friendly and efficient. And we enjoyed the warm, woodsy ambience. We will be back! read more

Great food and happy hour! Server Christina was awesome and being able to valet the car was convenient.

This was a big disappointment my first time here for mother's day I took my wife here and the limited menu was not even anything impressive and it took 45 minutes to be served after waiting 15 minutes after our scheduled reservation. Further they had a 22 dollar upcharge per person for a all you can eat buffett table which was just a table full of pastries you can get for free from any continental breakfast setup at other upscale hotels. The best thing on the table was chocolate strawberries and to get your money's worth you had to eat 20 of them and the rest were one inch tarts of random berries and a small cheesecake. There's probably good reason this isn't highly reviewed because very few people go here aside from special occasions where other better restaurants are fully booked. It also is why after several years in town I never decided to try this place out because its suspect of being worth trying out. I give one more star over the minimum bec it's not so much the servers fault but just a bad business. read more

Staying at the ROW with no car, we have limited places to eat, especially happy hours. Lo and behold pops this place on my Yelp app. Nobody clearly seems to know about this place, for few people were sitting in the bar area for this wonderful and affordable happy hour. We sat at. High top table and both ordered the Winter aperol spritz ..half off was 6.50 cents..what a steal. It was big and tasted marvelous! They had a few bar bites half off as well..both of us wanted the carne asada tacos and we split the Brussels sprouts. The food was absolutely delicious. The Brussels sprouts were incredible, it was a suggestion from our bartender and they were as good as he sold them. I fear nobody knows about this place, they also do a reasonable brunch..keep this place in business...I will be here EVERY time I visit Reno, car or not. read more

I gave them another chance today because I'm staying in the hotel again. I ordered the All American breakfast with eggs over easy; the yolks were cooked completely solid. The toast was roughly room temp and they apparently can't be bothered to butter it, so I was given 2 ice cold butter chips. I opted for the jam which was prepackaged and filthy, and if they had been sitting out there for months. Completely disgusted. I received exactly one glass of water while at breakfast. After finishing my meal I waited roughly 10-15 minutes to receive my check. This was the only time my server came back to check on my experience. There was one couple in the dining room and no one else. It was 44 minutes in total for me to have this meal, which was mostly spent waiting for the server to remember me. I don't think I will try this again. read more

Let's start out with our waitress. She was very welcoming and made our experience very good. Her name was Mariah. She was not scheduled to work today but glad she did. She's a keeper! Great service! The ambiance is great for Easter Sunday. an They even had an Easter Bunny there for the kids. Food was quick and fabulous But best part of all: all you can eat dessert bar!!!
