There are no reservations available here and you have to order your food before you sit down(sad,I know). However, the waiters/ waitresses were great and kind and delivered our food fast and cleared our table fast as well. The highlight of this place was the mama mimosa which is legit a huge glass of mimosa which tasted great. The place is small and they do have an upstairs, which is also where the restroom is and that can be trouble if people get a little tipsy on those tastey mimosas. Stopped by on a Sunday and service was terrible. Arrived and was not greeted or acknowledged for 15 minutes, tried to make eye contact with employees but no luck. Eventually someone greeted me and told me they would be with us as soon as possible but that they were extremely busy. I waited and finally a table became available and we were seated. No one came to the table for another 10-15 mins so I flagged down a person cleaning tables and asked if she could call a server. When the server arrives, she takes our drink order and before we order food she says "Food is taking 35-45mins. Do you still want to order?" I had already waited over 30 mins for a table and I came to eat so I thought that was a stupid question. Had someone said this when I walked in, I could understand, but it felt as if she wanted me to leave. I did notice her tell others as they were arriving and she was successful in getting two other parties to leave (I was sitting right by the door). Food was just ok, green chilaquiles were dry, red chilaquiles were good but tasted like canned salsa, chocolate muffin and cafe de olla were the best. I won't blame the staff for the service failure. I can see they are overworked and understaffed and it is the owners responsibility to hire enough employees. Maybe a lot of employees called out today, idk but I got the vibe that they are always this busy and don't have the appropriate amount of staff. To the business owner, do better. read more

I have been going here since before it was Café Zocalo it was called Blue Frog Cafe. I absolutely love their food and desserts. You can't go wrong with any of their food. The ranger cookie is delicious has a little bit of everything, coconut, chocolate chips, macadamia nuts it just bomb! I usually order the tuna salad and it's delicious. The staff is also very friendly and they take good care of you while you are there. They now have serve mimosas and micheladas!!!!! I will have to go back and give those a try! So if you are looking for a good place for breakfast and lunch check this place out. read more

We love coming to Cafe Zocalo and always look forward to having a meal at this warm and friendly cafe in Old Towne Orange. Their food is delicious. Service has always been outstanding. Food is served in generous portions. We especially love their turkey sandwiches where the owner makes a real turkey daily! His bakery items are beyond... homemade and fantastic. No need to go anywhere else. Oh and the lemonade is made from fresh squeezed real lemons and great year-round. Raspberry Cheese Cake 2 stars. I can pin point what it was, but there was something I did not care for in the cheese portion. The strawberry cheese cake did not have this issue. Pink Mousse 4 Stars For Whatever reason, I like pink desserts. This was no exception. Yummy. I especially enjoyed the combination of the textures between the mousse and the white chocolate shell. Lemon Dessert 4.5 Stars and my favorite. Yummy. Lemony. Delicious. Chocolate Chip Cookie 3 Stars Slightly over baked and a tad dry. I didn't finish this. Strawberry Cheese Cake 4 Stars The cheese cake is different here. There is something completely different about the ingredients and texture. The first tastes were a surprise for me and I was not too fond of it. That ended quickly. By the third fork full, I was sold. A nice surprise. The two large strawberries were fresh and had ripened to perfection. This place has an upstairs, downstairs, and outside seating. They also serve food. Disclaimer- While I did taste everything the first day, it took me three days to eat everything and nothing had lost its flavor. The place is small but cute. The food is outstanding. I've gone a few times and have tried multiple items: traditional egg breakfast with bacon. The bacon was cooked perfect. My partner ordered the Machaca and potatoes which looked great but he said wasn't very tender, and all around just average. I had the breakfast panini which lacked flavor entirely, would have been improved with a pesto or siracha spread. She: ice coffee (simple and effective) cinnamon streusel muffin (moist, delicious, Cinnamon Toast Crunch in a muffin: perfect). I've been searching for chilequiles and a well made michelada at the Latin restaurants in/near the orange circle and I'm glad that zocalo has moved Into the area! Their take on the classic breakfast dish is fresh and delicious. I've only had red Chile but I think I've been converted to green. The pricing is great and very much filling. Finally sat down a second time to catch their lunch service and get my hands on a michelada. I got the original mix with a lighter beer-I let the person taking my order choose the beer-makes it fun. I believe they have a couple other flavors. Was served in a special cup with a rim of flavor! Note: I prefer a thicker mixture and possibly a darker beer; however, the rim addition, which there was plenty, made every sip enjoyable. The pricing for the michelada is fair in terms of what restaurants typically charge, but In my opinion, I think it's an overpriced flavored beer served anywhere. With that said, until I master my own mix zocalo will be the place to go for a well prepared michelada. Cons: wish they served dinner at least once a week. There is a larger dinner crowd that I think would love to eat here. I look forward to trying some other breakfast/lunch items next time I get the chance :) read more

Although it's a little high in price for my starving artist minimal funds, I think it's worth it for a nice treat here and there. The young, thin, blonde girl with glasses helped my friend and I. She was incredibly helpful and friendly. I only ordered coffee this time, although the vegi-burrito and some of the pastries in the case were incredibly tempting, I wasn't very hungry this time. It had more of a glaze rather than a thick cream cheese icing but it covered it nicely and the dough was rich with a nice crisp to the edges.
