Ordered the rose latte. It was pretty good. But you can only have a dose of it at a time because the flavor is so distinct. Ordered the avocado toast with salmon. And it was not good. I think they slapped on 4 avocados worth of mush onto the toast. Made the toast soggy. And they spritzed some spicy pepper flavor that tasted gross. All the goat cheese and tomatoes and microgreens weighed down this heavy soaking wet toast so bad. It was not good man. Not the 'light' meal you picture when you order avocado toast. Trying to eat this was awful. All the toppings fell over. And literally fell over and plopped and splashed right into my latte. Ewwww. I ended up scraping everything with a fork. Woooaahhh, ice ice baby ......this frappe was unbelievably horrible.The overall taste was ok. However, the frappe was mostly ice!!!!!!! It was so thick with ice and the straw provided was small it was practically impossible to drink and if by some miracle you were able to get something to drink it would be ice. For the price you are better off going to McDonalds where at least you'll get more coffee than ice. read more

I recommend the Cafein in the shopping center with Trader Joe's. They have seating outside as well as inside. The lattes are excellent. The sandwiches and bagels are also good. If you want to eat there you can get your beverage in a nice large cup and saucer or you can just get it in a to-go cup. It's friendly service and they will bring your food to your table. read more

I became familiar with "Cafein" thanks to my Church, and now they have opened a Centreville location (near the Trader Joe's) in addition to the original in Chantilly. I love their coffee (not surprisingly, considering their name) but they have wonderful desserts and Chai Teas that are to die for. A special shout-out to their staff, who are wonderful and accommodating. You won't regret a visit to Cafein, and I'm sure they could use some additional support during the pandemic. The place sells coffee, tea and coffee soda! You're probably thinking "coffee soda? eww!" However the smooth taste and flavor of coffee combined with a light carbonation makes for the perfect morning or afternoon coffee! The "espressoda" was too good for words! I additionally ordered the rainbow cake from this restaurant and it is the nicest looking piece of cake I have ever seen! The color work on the cake is professionally done , and the cake itself was moist and delicious! The inside of the shop was very casual and everyone inside looked comfortable and at ease. Not going to lie, I came here for the rose latte. I've been seeing photos of this gorgeous drink pop up on Yelp and Instagram for at least a year, so I was stoked that we were in the vicinity. The storefront does not look like much from the outside, masquerading as an average coffee shop in a typical small suburban shopping plaza. But once you step in, your world is transformed. I love the interior, how spacious and bright it is. I really love how they decorated the wall near the entrance with the periodic elements for Cafein. There's a ton of space inside, with lots of tables and sofas. It's a great place to either catch up with friends or study by yourself. I ordered the rose latte (duh) and a slice of rainbow cake. The rose latte was delicious, and I really like how the subtle floral flavors come up. They do some of the prettiest latte art that I've ever seen, which is a bonus! I ordered the rainbow cake on a whim, thinking that it was going to be overly sweet. I was genuinely and pleasantly surprised when I took a bite of the cake and found it to be incredibly moist and not too sugary. It's a pretty big slice that you can easily share with a friend. Everything was so good that I even did a second round of ordering and this time I got my favorite drink of all time, a matcha latte. I like that they serve Stumptown here, which is one of my favorite coffee roasters. The barista did an excellent job at pulling an espresso shot for my BF. In addition to coffee and other drinks, they also serve sandwiches and various sweets. I definitely need to come back for their matcha cheesecake! I've been a huge fan of cafein since maybe 6-7 years ago and it remains my favorite still. Their quality of drinks and food are just amazing - The iced rose latte with oat milk is my go-to, I love every single of their sandwich options, the bagels are also good, and the baked goods (matcha cheesecake was my favorite), and the super underrated blueberry yogurt smoothie. It gets extremely crowded though especially on weekends, so it's not the best place for studying or having conversations since it gets pretty loud. The centreville location is even smaller, it would be a dream if they open a larger place but maybe the perk of cafein is more on the quality and the coziness to their place. read more

I went to Cafein on 1/13/18 on my way home from the gym. The interior of the coffeehouse is more upscale than you would expect looking at its exterior. They're a number of places to sit and have a conversation with friends. I don't know if I would recommend it as a good place to study. The tables are "on top" of each other. Cafein does not offer a huge drink selection. However, they do offer some unique specialty drinks you will not find in a place like Starbucks. They do offer breakfast sandwiches and pastries. The coffee to food is not inexpensive. It is not the kinda of place I would recommend if you're looking for a cheap drip coffee and a breakfast sandwich. It felt much more like a place you would meet someone for a casual conversation. In a nutshell when I feel like treating myself I will be back. read more

I was unsure what to order as I perused the [short] menu of options at Cafein, and rather than rushing me, the gentleman working the register took it upon himself to start asking me questions about how I like my coffee (there was no line, so no - I didn't delay anyone's attempt to get in a "Cafein" fix). Do I usually like it black or with cream, sweet or less sweet, hot or cold? He then suggested the "coffee cream," with a little less cream than typically used as I indicated I don't like much of it. He was right on the money; I absolutely loved it. While all I had was the coffee cream, their pastries were appetite-inducing for sure, with one rainbow-colored, massive slice of cake looking particularly amazing. I will definitely be going back to try out said piece of cake, and to satisfy my craving for another one of their coffee creams. For a bit of a reference point, it was reminiscent of the Nitro Sweet Cream at Starbucks, though I believe Cafein uses its standard iced coffee and not a nitro brew. The cream itself is steamed before the barista pours it over the iced coffee, lending foaminess to the drink that is comparable to that of an iced cappuccino or nitro brew. One suggestion - more seating. The space is relatively large, with ample space for more tables, though seating is limited to 8-10 tables seating 2-4 people, and the seats were all full when I arrived, short of a couple of bar stools by the window. Otherwise, it's an ideal place for a coffee date or study session. read more
