Fabulous place! One of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle. Elegant Italian decorations and tiling inside.

First time customer. Nice cafe win a great location and great big window to look outside. I can image how beautiful it would be in sunny days. I appreciate the alternative milk options. They also have one (1) vegan pastry. I ordered my go to Soy Milk Latte. The coffe was too weak and it barely tasted like a coffee drink. It's the reason why I don't do Starbucks, the weak coffee. It's like hotel coffee with soy milk in it. I can make that in my hotel room. I couldn't believe the tour guide suggested it and mentioned the coffee here is strong coffee. Maybe I should trust your guide's suggestions no more. I only give it a 3 stars based on the tasteless coffee and only based on one time visit. read more

The Italian son of a coffee man who was in charge of the place when I was there literally made my day. He turned gray sky into blue. Westlake location employees need to be re trained. The male employee was talking so loud with other employees and it was very disturbing. They didn't say " Thank you" even though they saw customers are leaving. It is not their play ground. read more

First time coming in! I came in around early afternoon on Friday and it was hardly crowded. There is plenty of seating and space for social distancing. The staff were very friendly as well! I ordered an iced caffe latte with soy milk and it was perfectly balanced. It didn't feel overly sweet or bitter, and was not watery. A beautiful cafe right off of Occidental Square that offers some Italian style coffees that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in the city. I tried the cappuccino al cocoa and the dill + Parmesan scone, both really flavorful. Staff was friendly and service was quick. There is a lot of outdoor seating here surrounded by trees and brick buildings and on a quiet street as there isn't any through car traffic allowed. With the sound of the streetcar and the birds, it really felt as if I was in Europe. read more

This is such a cute place. I was in Seattle for work for 4 days and came here two times! The service is great, the lattes are so tasty, and the food is delicious. I ordered the vanilla latte with soy both times but got a chocolate croissant one time and the prosciutto and egg sandwich another time. I was elated with my choices each time! I can't wait to go back to Seattle just to visit this place. I should have bought a bag of beans. Stopped in on a overcast Saturday afternoon for a coffee as we perused the used bookstores in the area. No line despite a Mariners game and a double header soccer expedition at century link. I ordered a cappuccino and my wife ordered the Caffè granita. The cappuccino was standard and I really enjoyed it. Foam was perfect. The granita is a frozen coffee drink and my wife loved it so much she went back 2 more times for one. Nice place, lots of room inside. read more

Stopped here for a warm drink since it was cold outside. I got the lavender latte. Really nice and the lavender taste was juuust right. I really liked the set up here and the decor was really nice and gave off cozy vibes. Seating was next door although nobody was cleaning the tables off in between, so there were coffee spills and crumbs all over the surface. Came here on July 4th morning when most places were still closed. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. I got a small drip cookie which was pretty standard but good. I also got their breakfast sandwich which they heated up, it was generous in terms of size and the bread came out nice and crispy. I believe it had some cheese, ham, some eggs though I can't remember very clearly. What a beautiful location and cafe! My husband and I stopped by on a lazy Sunday morning, and this was the perfect pick me up! We had the Cafe el Pepe (honey, pepper and fall spices) and a cafe fredo (hot espresso at the bottom topped with a cold milk foam). They were both unique, creamy and delicious; I'd highly recommend. Espresso/coffee is 5-star. The espresso is phenomenal. But the review explaining the employees as "wannabe influencers" annoyed by our very presence is laughingly accurate. When my wife asked the "hip" guy about the food he couldn't even respond with words. I kid you not, he didn't even speak. One of the workers rolled her eyes having to wait for us to enter through the door. The workers barely communicate with you, but will talk to each other behind the counter. I love the smoothness is the coffee here. As a non regular coffee drinker, I would prefer this than another more popular but bitter and rough coffee. Recently, I stumbled upon their seasonal menu and had the Caffe Pepa....i went 2 times to have th is honey, coffee, peppery delightful treat. But today, I went back and ordered the same "Caffe Pepa with extra honey." I could tell right away it was not the same. Previously, I could taste the honey, but today, no distinct honey flavor. Previously, the flavors combined tasted like gingerbread. Today, it just tastes like coffee with spice. I'd still give it a try, but know that it's inconsistent depending on who is making it, but for the $5 cost (small after tax), it should be consistent every single time. read more

I really should thank the person who scheduled a meeting here several months ago! I love that it's a big cafe and that it seem to be a popular spot for small film crews to film... commercials or shows or whatever. I've seen two shoots here so far. It's also great for small meetings because it's usually easy to find a table and pretty quiet. I love that they frequently have macarons. I also really like their big pasta salad that costs about $5 after tax. I love that they usually give/offer a small side of olives if you get a piadina. I haven't tried any of their salads or sandwiches, but I'm guessing they're pretty good. I believe they make their own sandwiches and get their salads from La Spiga. I'll have to try their gelato (or ice cream?) when the days get warmer. I don't even bother to look at that display in December. The baristas are pretty cool. One has a bit of an attitude, but it's a... good kind of attitude. I can't really describe it, but it's... kind of what I expect/hope to find at a small coffee shop. "No need to say, "no whip." Our default is no whip." So... this is a coffee shop and I have not yet talked about their coffee. There's a reason I saved it for last. The reason is... It's my favorite coffee place in Pioneer Square! The mocha is (normally) fantastic and I love that you get a little Caffe Umbria chocolate square if you get your coffee in a "for here" cup. The one sad thing is that there appears to be one barista who makes the coffee drinks watery and not good. I haven't figured out who it is yet, but I've definitely been sad a few times. I think I'll need to start paying more attention to who is working when the coffee isn't very good, but hopefully that one barista will just figure it out and then Caffe Umbria will be absolutely perfect. !!! One of my favorite spots in Pioneer Square. The staff is always super friendly, and helpful if you have any questions. Lots of space for comfortable seating, making it a great place to study and/or relax. Free WiFi too! Personal favorite drink to get here is their Iced Green Tea Latte. I always keep forgetting that there are some great spots to hang out in Pioneer Square during the day. When the sun is out, I like to walk over to Caffe Umbria for either a cup of coffee or a scoop of gelato. Today I found myself in a bit of a dilemma: I was craving both coffee and gelato! I was eying the gelato display and the coffee menu back and forth. I then notice they have a summer drinks menu that helped me make my decision: Affogato al cafe! Basically, its just a scoop of gelato with a shot of espresso poured over it. I chose to have the honey nut (I think that's the name) gelato and it satisfied both my gelato and coffee craving for just $3.30. I love to sit outside and just people watch around the area or grab my coffee to go and hang out at the man made waterfall garden around the area. read more

I don't usually write reviews but it's ridiculous how each time I visited this cafe, my experience is not a 5/5. This is my second time here at this location and the coffee is good however the service unfortunately isn't. My boyfriend and I did feel welcomed as we felt rushed to order and the barista look like she didn't want to take our order both times we visited. I also asked questions about their menu and seasonal items but I felt like I was being talked to as I was dumb and didn't know what I'm talking about, hence why I'm asking questions in the first place. Made a stop here since we couldn't find any place ti sit and rest before my flight back to LA. Unfortunately, I was already filled with tea and hot chocolate; but fortunately, it was worth trying out their almond milk latte. QUALITY: Their espressos are on the rustic side, expressing more roasted earth tones; the lightness and sweetness only comes from the almond milk that serves as a stark contrast against the espresso. It's a little discordant, and the texture was less than silky but still felt smooth going down. It's a pretty good latte if you're going for something on the darker side. ENVIRONMENT: This place is pretty versatile and it was pretty peaceful here; it was pretty relaxing to sit here since there was ample of natural light from the giant windowed walls. Overall, Caffe Umbria was a pretty nice treat to have; definitely a good alternative to the Caffe Vita. read more

I tried the honey oat latte for the first time and I was OBSESSED. I came back 3 times in one week. However I was a little disappointed that it was not as good the second or third time. Then I went to the downtown location as it's closer to me and the honey oat latte wasn't even on the menu. The barista said he can make it but the resulting taste was not good. I'm always on the hunt for great coffee and was near this cafe. I found out that the owners of this company used to own Torreafazzione before selling to Seattle's Best years ago. I stopped in a got a single espresso. I did this since this is the best way to judge the quality of the roasting. I was in heaven after the first taste! It took me back to the Torreafazzione days. Balanced flavor and moderate acidity. No harsh, burnt taste like that other Seattle coffee company that's on every corner. Since they don't have any shops on the East side, I picked up a pound of coffee to take home. I would have given them 5 stars, however their pastry offerings were limited and they don't have a shop in Bellevue or anywhere on the Eastside. If you want high quality coffee that isn't burnt and highly acidic, get your coffee here! read more

Caffe Umbria is the best cafe I have ever had the pleasure of stepping into. It looks like it was picked up from Rome by the hand of god and dropped into the prettiest and most history-rich neighborhood in Seattle. Interacting with the baristas is like sitting at the popular kids table but if the popular kids remembered your name and could pull a perfect shot of espresso. There used to be a Starbucks across the street but they couldn't hang. The coffee is too good, the atmosphere is too authentic, and the baristas are too cool for you to go anywhere else. If you live or work in Pioneer Square, you should be a regular here. read more

Another great Italian style caffe. Ordered a doppio macchiato con panna. Came with a side of soda water in the classic Italian serving style. The quality of the bean was very nice as was the quality of the pulled shot. The whipped cream was not sweetened so as not to take away from the espresso too much. I've been here multiple times while I make pit stops in Seattle for work and I'm never disappointed. I normally get a chai or a hot chocolate with a chocolate croissant (which are yummy) and it's always so good! The pastries are so fresh and delicious! Holy caff-fruck, this single scoop kept me up past my bedtime and caused some early morning wakening. Not that I minded though, I enjoy the occasional all-nighter. If you are in the area and want a quick little coffee break or even a light lunch, Caffé Umbria will suit you well! I was looking for a place to unwind and watch the World Cup between my two lunches (a man's gotta eat). After catching a free show from Lemolo in Occidental Park I stumbled upon Caffé Umbria and saw a group of people surrounding a tv and knew this would be a great spot! The café is separated into two areas - walk in the main door and you're greeted with the giant coffee bar and a display case loaded with pastries and various types of biscotti as well as an assortment of gelatos. I couldn't get over how many baristas there were behind the bar, but appreciated the fast service. The other side of the café has about 10-12 tables and a bar along the window. If the weather is nice there are also several tables on the patio out front. I ordered a latte and a white chocolate cranberry biscotti and headed over to a little table by the only tv in the seating area of the café. I didn't notice what type of espresso roast they used, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The little piece of chocolate served with the latte was a nice touch. I wasn't a huge fan of the biscotti and found it to be a little too soft for my liking. The guy in line in front of me swore by their pistachio gelato...maybe next time. I assumed it was a self-bus style café, but didn't see anywhere to put my dishes so I just carried them back to the front counter and they happily took them. read more
