What can I say about caffè ladro that I've not said already in other reviews for other locations. Caffè ladro is hands down the best coffee in the seattle area or even all up, and this is coming from a native Italian used to drinking the best espresso every day back in italy. My favorite is the Gibraltar, which is basically Ladro's version of a Cortado, or a long macchiato. Also, the espresso chocolate cake seems to be back, you've got to try it with a Gibraltar or latte, the combination works really well. read more

I can't remember a single time when I've gone into the store and they don't have the ingredients for a caramel latte. Ok, I'm so annoyed. I had a friend pick me up a lavender matcha from here today and it was literally half foam. I mean comeON. It's not like this place is cheap so I kind of expect more from them than this. I was so looking forward to my drink. I dunno who made it today either, but it tastes really bland on top of everything else. Def not up to par at all. I'll just add that there is one barista that does an amazing job and I've LOVED all my drinks from them. The problem is, it's just not consistent enough. They really need everyone to be trained to the same level because it's just not worth coming out of my way and getting disappointing drinks when there are multiple coffee shops closer to me. read more

Fun little cafe with delicious coffee & tea drinks. They also offer baked goods and some other food but didn't try anything besides coffee. I tired the mocha with orange zest, which is an orange rind they put in the drink. It was not overly sweet and the milk was steamed and had a perfect amount of foam. My girlfriend had the maple latte, which she also loved. They offer reusable cups for $2.00 and you get a $0.25 on the drink you order. Small space with tables. They do have a few tables outside and there is a open space with tables and chairs across the street. Right on the corner of Roy and Queen Anne it was a delightful walk from our hotel just 10 minutes down the street. read more

Walking to Kerry Park, stopped in at this coffee shop for a quick pick me up. Ordered a simple black brewed coffee ($2.30 for small). Was given the option of light or medium roast and chose a light roast. Wasn't expecting much but was actually pleasantly surprised by the delicious brew. Smooth and light, with a sweeter note. I very much enjoyed this little cup of joe on a chillier morning walk! Additionally there was very nice customer service and they were very fast with my order! Ladro earns its first bonus point for having one of the best cups of coffee in Seattle but maintaining a humility in its staff and ambiance- a rare find these days. When I'm here, I get a cappuccino, because Ladro's espresso is fantastic but their baristas also know how to whip that milk into some serious frothy shape. Americano and good old drip coffee take a close second and third. As far as pastries go, I'm a sucker for a butterhorn in the afternoon, but what really gets me are Ladro's vegan oat bars, which are a brown sugar and oat bar with rhubarb slathered in the middle. I don't know who came up with these heavenly things, but I have to get one every time I come back home. They are huge, easy to share, and usually gone by the late afternoon, so you can always grab one with your morning coffee and save it for pick-me-up treat. This isn't the most convenient location for many, but I like it because of how clean and bright it is compared to others. It has a European feel and lends itself to sitting down for a conversation with a friend you haven't seen in a while. Stop in before grabbing fondue or catching a show! read more

My friend and I decided to stop by and grab a quick coffee after lunch. When we walked in, we met one of the nicest barista helping us out. He was so patient while we were figuring what we wanted. Why do I never luck out here? I *hear* there's some amazing barista that works there, but I have yet to encounter him. Everybody has been FRIENDLY so far, but the product experience just hasn't been that great. The one time I got tea here, I had to wait about 15 minutes before I could drink it without burning my mouth. I've gotten mocha's here a few times and they've... always gotten the "job" done, but have never been delicious. When I'm paying $3-4 for a small beverage, I really want it to be/do BOTH! I've been a barista for over 9 years so I always avoid being hard on other baristas but holy hell. Walked in and felt uncomfortable. Over looked it, ordered my drinks and was rudely asked if I was waiting for something, which I was, my pastry. Was told "why didn't you tell me?" Which rubbed me the wrong way, implying that it was my fault that I didn't get my food item. It seemed like all the regulars before and after me got their food items just fine and my second thought was, I've been in situations where I've forgotten food items for customers but my first instinct is to apologies for forgetting and my order was stupid simple (2 drinks and a pastry item). Really bad first impression and the drinks were mediocre at best. Seems like if you're not a regular, you shouldn't come here. Go to Starbucks to get more bang for your buck. read more

I love the Giacometti-inspired logo of the creepy-cool stick shadow. Caffe Ladro makes a solid cup of coffee -- a reliable alternative to the ubiquitous green mermaid's. Your experience of that cup, however, and this establishment, will vary considerably depending on the barista. When I first visited a few months ago, the snoot was so stiff that I wanted to stab it with my swizzle stick. Last weekend, however, was fine. Hopefully as an establishment and as chain, there will be attitude control across the board, but don't let one off-putting experience keep you away forever. Having said that, this isn't the kind of cafe you'd want to sit in for too long anyhow. On a nice day, grab a cup to go and head up the hill to Kerry Park, or hone your spiritual compass in the outdoor labyrinth at St. Paul's down the street. read more

I have been going around to a lot of different coffee roasters in Seattle, sampling all sorts of different blends, and I have to say that I like Caffe Ladro the best. I originally thought my favorite would be Stumptown. They are pretty good however, I like the variety of roasts offered at Caffe Ladro better. The blend I like the best is their Diablo however, their Queen Anne is a close second. Now you cannot get these blends made as a single cup; you have to buy a bag. If you want, they will grind it for you. They do bake their pastries though, not on site. Regardless, they are very good. I recommend their lemon squares and berry scones. Both are quite reasonably priced. Whether you need a place to chill out, catch up on some reading, or need to do some work Caffe Ladro is a pretty good spot. read more

Caffe Ladro is a small but cute little coffee shop on the corner of Roy Street and Queen Anne right across from Counterbalance park. It has the atmosphere as an intimate place to escape the cold Seattle winter mornings and relax with a hot cup of coffee or tea. Caffe Ladro has many locations in the Seattle area and generally the quality and taste of the food and beverages is consistent. With some of the smaller chains there is sometimes a deviation in flavor, but that is not the case with Caffe Ladro. There are a few Adirondack chairs on the Queen Anne side and sometimes I like to just sit and relax outside in the spring or fall mornings. There are also a few small tables along Roy Street. You can also walk across the street to Counterbalance park and sit down at some of the tables there and people or traffic watch. One of the things that is a bit frustrating is that I have come here several times and just wanted to sit inside and enjoy a drink and a scone but all of the tables were full. There were people on their IPads and laptops who were just working and hanging out with not an open table in sight. So I came back over an hour later and I would say that only one table had turned over. But that is the price you pay at a small shop. So when I went back the second time, I just got my stuff to go. One of my favorite things about Caffe Ladro is their baked goods. I like my baked goods and if you can find me something delicious that is savory for breakfast I will usually give it a try. Now they have this chili pepper and cheese scone that I really like. It is a appealing visually as it is delicious. Scones are something that need to be perfect or I won't even bother to finish them.. Every time I have bought a scone from here I have never been disappointed. I also really liked their pumpkin scone. Pumpkin is one of those those things that I do not like overly sweet. They have an excellent balance of a spice flavor to the sweet. Their cookies are also really good and are the soft and moist kind. I have never been a fan of hard cookies. The muffins they have are also great as are the tarts. I have never tried the cheesecake or the quiche. If I want coffee cake, I will walk a bit further to Nielsen's Scandinavian bakery because they have amazing coffee cake that no one in this part of Seattle can even come close. They do not allow dogs inside so when I come here with the pug I open the door and let them know I want to place an order. Sometimes they will take it from me right then and there or tell me to wait outside. They will bring my order to me outside and take my card and do my payment and then bring it back to me without ever having to go in. It frustrates Pugsly because he would prefer to go in and hang out. He does not understand "No Dogs Allowed." I generally tend to get tea from here and be forewarned as other Yelpers have commented that the water is very hot. Do not drink it immediately. If you want, you can tell the barista to leave a little room at the top and when the tea has finished steeping you can add a bit of cool water. I have found this works. So if you are in the area and want to grab a quick coffee at an intimate little coffee shop Caffe Ladro is the place. read more

When walking into Cafe Ladro, I could smell the rich aroma of freshly ground coffee beans. Many Seattle coffee shops lack the whole experience. Great coffee, friendly service and reasonable prices. The Barista behind the counter greeted us with a smile and a delightfully witty attitude, which makes a world of difference, and the prices here are very reasonable. This place is also quiet enough to concentrate and the drinks are reasonably priced. The lounge chairs outside are a nice touch for people watching and fresh air on sunny days. How I heard of this place: The first time I heard of Caffe Ladro was when I moved to Seattle and found them everywhere. The first time I went to Caffe Ladro was with my friend Ala, during the intermission at the Seattle Symphony, when we were in need of a quick shot of espresso to get us through the second half; as was the case with the first violinist we saw, downing his single shot and rushing back up the street to make curtain call. Type of cuisine: While coffee is the draw, the Caffe Ladro Bakery crafts their own scrumptious pastries and desserts, delivering them to their thirteen locations fresh, each morning. Patrons can order (even for catering) everything from muffins and scones, cookies and bars, to coffee cakes, quiche, croissants, pies, cheesecake and a variety of tarts. Ambiance: The small, cozy space on the corner of Queen Anne Avenue North and Mercer Street welcomes patrons with its bright orange walls, dark, wooden chairs and tables and very Seattle-esque baristas. Several chairs and tables are available for summer seating outdoors, although most choose to sit inside with their computers and iPods attached. The bar is the first thing patrons see as they enter the windowed establishment, complete with glass dessert display and large espresso machine. A handful of tables and chairs are available to patrons, with enough space between so as not to disturb neighboring cafe-goers when coming and going for more caffeine or snacks. Music plays quietly in the background, and the sounds of traffic outside stream monotonously inside. What I ordered: On this trip, we stopped in to meet a photographer for my upcoming wedding and decided to partake of a couple of items that sounded and looked fabulous! The third in our party, shared my cookie! What I loved: The cookie was beautiful! Moist, light and fresh. The orange rind adding excellent flavor to the lightly chocolated mocha.
