All that effort for coffee that was, at best, equal to Starbucks, and hot chocolate that my son wouldn't drink. He just turned 5 and said it doesn't taste like chocolate. So, after tasting it, he was right. No whip cream, no marshmallows, and I think it was Nestle's chocolate syrup. I had to agree it was yucky as he said. read more

I came here with my family for an afternoon coffee break around 4pm. There were a decent amount of customers in the cafe, but not too overcrowded. We ordered a medium Americano and cafe saigon (basically vietnamese coffee). This place is decently sized so we quickly found a table to sit down. For the amount of people in the cafe, the noise level was actually perfect - not too loud but has some background white noise. Seems like most people are either reading, studying, or on their laptop (but plugged in). Their waffles and macarons look yummy, but I didn't get to try to them and would be interested next time. I have to say this place has the best tables and chairs out of all coffee houses I've ever been to (and yes, I've been to quite few). If you need a place to chat with friends or get some work done, this is a GREAT place for it. Decor is also really nice and it really provides a calm and relaxing environment. They have a nice selection of macaroons (yay!) - I tried blood orange, earl grey, and lemon. The flavors were definitely there but I felt it could have a little more presence. I've had better ones in DTLA but definitely the best in South Bay. If you take it to go, they'll put them in a nice, cute box! I tried strawberries and cream waffle - although a bit pricy, this was really good!! It was dusted with powdered sugar and the waffle had chunks of sweet stuff here and there which added nice extra crunch to it. This place sucks. It was my first time ever coming here and I was excited to try it. I see it all the time on my way to work and decided to stop by since my shift was cancelled. I stood in front of the register for 5 whole minutes as the cashier organized the bottled waters. He saw that I was waiting and continued to organize them as if he didn't know I existed. When he finally decided to take my order, he literally just stood at the register...no hi, no how may I help you...nothing. Ordered a caramel machiatto in hopes that it would taste good enough to redeem the crummy service..it didn't. Way too acidic, not enough caramel. Really great place to hang out, study, or work on your computer with your friends or by yourself. There's ample space and tables, I actually admire how spacious this place is. Unfortunately it's somewhat of a mission to find tables next to outlets esp when there's a good amount of people already there. Aside from that their drink and snack menu is great, I would definitely recommend their iced matcha latte. PS. I'm so happy there's a Caffe Bene in the area. Of the 3294203483 options I had in Korea, with cafes literally on every corner, my favorite was Caffe Bene. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, so I like their non-coffee options, from drinks to desserts, and even food. It's so cute inside, and I like the atmosphere better than other coffee shops (i.e. Starbucks). All of the drinks I have tried are good. I really like that they have almond milk option. Their earl grey tea latte with almond milk comes unsweetened, and I really like it. Their green tea latte is also delicious, and you can order it in varying sweetness levels. One of my favorite items is their misugaru drinks, which comes as a latte or a smoothie. My favorite item in Korea was their strawberry shaved ice. I haven't tried that yet, but I was able to try their misugaru (sweet grain) shaved ice. To be honest, Okrumong is so much better, but shaved ice is their specialty, so you can't expect much else. I really like their dessert options. The cakes and pastries they have in their dessert case are really good. The cheesecakes aren't overly cloying, and not too sweet. I really like their dessert waffles, too. The waffles are sweet and crispy. To be honest, a waffle with a scoop of gelato is perfect. You don't NEED any of the other fixins, but it's not about what we need, but what we want. The most surprisingly delicious option was their sandwiches. I tried their spicy chicken sandwich, and was legitimately surprised at how good it was. It comes toasted, which is always better, and the chicken is sweet and not too spicy, with a kind of chicken bulgogi type marinade. It comes with melty mozzarella and veggies as well. My mom and I split one, but I know I could eat a whole sandwich myself. read more

This used to be one of my favorite study spots. Even with it being pricier than most other cafes, I would still come here because it's around the corner from my house and they stay open later than most other cafes. However, after my experience from today I will not be returning, about 15 minutes into my study session I was approached by either management or one of the owners and was told that "I couldn't sit there and needed to move." I looked at her confused and told her I had asked the cashier before sitting there if it was okay and he had said yes. She said that it was only okay when it's empty and she had people waiting outside to be seated. I'm assuming the people that were waiting were people she knew and had priority over regular customers. When I got up to look for another seat the rest were taken by this point and by the time one opened up I was too uncomfortable to stay and finish my drink, so I just left. This is no way to treat customers, although it is more convenient for me to come here because it's so close to my house, I'll be going to other coffee shops from now on.. I refuse to support a business that treats customers this way. read more

Soo happy they opened a place here in Torrance! No need to drive to drive to Koreatown and find parking and pay! This place is located in a strip mall with tons of free parking. Nice interior, not as big as the koreatown location but still spacious and friendly staff. I always get the Pat Bing Soo, my fave. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Sat in for only about 5 mins with 2 friends, waiting for another friend to come, and the worker came up to us and told me that her manager said that if we don't buy anything, we will have to leave. I said "ok, we'll buy something. Just deciding if we want to get just drinks or food." Not even a minute after, the lady worker brings a guy worker to literally tell us the same thing......um...now I'm a bit perturbed and shocked. Yes, we heard you the first time. You don't need to send another person to warn us. I've been coming here every week to study and buying their ridiculously expensive drinks and this is how I'm treated in return. No points for loyalty whatsoever. Please have some patience. By the way, after the second time they came a third time within the second minute to basically kick us out. Let me start by saying that the food and drinks are marginal at best. So really they have no room for THE WORST SERVICE EVER. We ordered drinks and 3 scoops of gelato. 2 chocolate and one mango sorbet. My daughter has a severe allelrgy to ingredients in most ice creams, which is why we get her the sorbet. We ordered 3 scoops and they gave us 1 scoop of chocolate and a double scoop of chocolate and mango sorbet. They place it on the counter, along with our unmarked drinks. This is probably the best coffee place nearby where I live. The reason being is it's open until midnight. I came here every now and then to get a place to read articles on my laptop, with their pretty good coffee latte. A friend normally came here to get afogado and he said it's pretty good as well. I also happened to try their coffee saigon, which is very sweet, and not like a vietnamese type of strong coffee that I thought it would be, but nonetheless it's pretty good. I'm assuming it's still fairly unknown because in the many times I have gone, it's been pretty empty. Parking can be scarce, so aside from parking the lot, you can on the curbs to the side or parking lot across the street. Drink wise they offer pretty much the same as your typical coffee spot. Some selections for sandwiches, desserts and gelato. I have yet to really try a lot from the menu, but getting my typical go to coffee drinks, it holds up. Came here this morning for the first time and it's large and clean! Interesting menu with off beat offerings. Coffee was ok, and the strawberry and cream waffle was just "ok". Waffle could have done without the added chocolate syrup which in my opinion just put it over the edge. Was a little too sweet for my taste. Most of their offerings seemed over the top sweet which again, strictly my opinion...its just not my cup of tea. Ambiance is really calming and quiet or at least it was when I was there. I just started going here to study, and I brought outside food because I figured I'd get hungry later. I believe it was the manager who approached me and was telling me to leave because of the food I brought that I already had finished. I was telling her how I was planning to buy a coffee in a bit but she still insisted for me to pack up my things and leave. Short story: overprice drinks from powder, soggy boba and EXTREMELY rude owner/ customer service. Read on if you want the long version of the story. Honestly this place is not very good. We order the boba milk tea and and boba Thai tea. It was extremely sweet to the point that is not even drinkable. All sugar! I was trying be very reasonable, apologized (even thought I didn't do anything wrong) if it was possible to either remake my drink, make me something else. The owner interrupts me before I can even finish and says "we've been in business for X amount of years and we have NEVER had anyone one complain except for YOU. The problem is YOUR taste, not our drinks. We don't do exchanges or refund." Mind you, I did not drink half the drink and then bring it back, we have 4 people in the group who sipped the drinks and think the drinks are way too sweet. At this point I just want a refund and not have to deal with the owner/place. I told him under the California Law, unless you have a sign posted that says we do the issue refunds, I'm obligated to get my money back. He says as a matter of fact, we do have a return policy sign and proceeds to point to a sign at the register that reads CAFFE BENE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS. I'm thinking to myself, unless this guy is considered this transaction as him personally stealing from me, then I can accept your "refund policy". I even read the "policy" out loud to him 2x and told there's nothing on this sign that says refunds. At this point I'm pretty irritated, I'm was like look dude either make me a new drink, refund me my money or I'll get the authorities involved. He was still insistent on not issuing a refund or making us new drinks and proceeded to "call my bluff". Luckily, other customers walked in and started to stand in line. So he finally agreed to "remake" the drinks, so the staff can tend to the customers. Of course, I'll have to watch him make the drinks, I don't want any "surprises". Little did I know, when he said he'll remake the drinks, he meant pouring out half the cup and then adding more milk. He gives it back to me and I tried it at the counter, but it was still over powering sweet. I told him that it is still personally too sweet for me, but I'll bring it back and see what everyone thinks. Everyone also thinks it was still too sweet. One for my friend said "it kinda taste the milk from a very sugary cereal" I brought it back and asked for a refund. I told the owner, none of us can drink it and we're not happy with it, we want our refund. At which he reply "well I'm not happy either." Then he point to a different sign that reads the actual refund policy and says we don't do refunds. Which reads "if at any point you are not happy with caffe bene dessert, drinks or pastries, we will gladly remake or refund you your money." At this point I'm really annoyed and reads the sign to him and he still like to argue that they don't offer refunds and he is making an exception. Seriously if your an owner and you don't know your own franchise policy and still want to argue about it. Does not recommend to anyone unless you want to pay for overprice, extremely sweet drinks. read more

Not a real coffee shop. Your may be fooled into believing this Caffe Bene location is a true coffee shop: they have an expensive espresso machine, good grinders, Baristas, expensively priced coffee - sounds good so far right? - but you'd be wrong. The owners of this Bene have decided to go rogue and use fake crappy coffee creamer for you to cream your coffee rather than real cream. Interestingly, all other Caffe Benes I've been to, have an insulated carafe of half-and-half at the station where sugar and creamer is supposed to be. All the Caffe Benes in LA have this, and even 3-4 I've visited while traveling in Seoul had real cream for creamers available to customers. My tip, go by Starbucks or 7-11 beforehand and get a real coffee before coming so you can enjoy a nice good cup of coffee with the nice Bene atmosphere until they decide their customers are worthy of spending a whopping $15 on an insulated carafe that holds real creamer. read more

So, I love this place. I really love it, but the last few times I got to Work pulled out my order and it's wrong! Like not made the wrong sandwich, but they made the sandwiches the wrong way. I order the portabella mushroom and they put peppered sprouts, this sandwich doesn't come with those and they left off the sauce they usually use. This has happened 3 times now. Today they did it again and my husband ordered the sandwich and asked for no sprouts and no spinach, so they made it with nothing except meat. I absolutely love this place for studying! Considering other places like Starbucks, I think the prices are pretty fair, at least for coffees. There's plenty of seating and outlets, especially for the seats against the back wall. Great customer service, good sandwiches, delicious cakes and I love the stylish atmosphere and the music that's not too loud. And I've never had issues with parking so far. I just wish there were better wifi since I usually rely on my phone data for most things that require Internet connection. 4/5 since the wifi is not reliable but otherwise this place is perfect! read more
