I love how this is a cafe but they serve actual food!! It's a bit pricey but the portions are big!

Breakfast & coffee were bomb! Wish I would have taken a photo. Had the salmon eggs Benedict & ordered without capers, they put capers on it. I would have just picked them off but they brought the dish back and picked the capers off themselves. That was weird because they left a handful on the plate. Caffe Central is the perfect place to go if you're looking for a healthy and fresh meal in Burlingame. They have a wide variety of menu options featuring salads, sandwiches, and breakfast all day. EDIT: I have come to this Cafe a few times after my first time and I have come to realize that even though I still don't like their cold brew( which has improved in quality from my very first time here), but I really love their sandwiches and salads. I have not tried any new desserts yet, but they look really tasty. I am a regular here now and I like them. It was my first time visiting this particular location. I have been to caffe central in SF and in San Jose, this location was a complete let down. I ordered cold brewed coffee for me and my husband ( that's the only coffee drink we generally take), the cashier took the order and the coffee came out pretty fast, so yay! For that. BUT, the coffee was unbearably bitter, when I pointed that out, I was offered to fix the coffee, I told them it was extremely bitter so they should add some water and ice to it. They added very little water which did not solve the issue. She offered to remake the coffee, I assumed that I would get cold brew coffee which would be done correctly, but instead she just poured a shot of espresso in the iced water and handed it to me. I pointed out that this is not cold brew but americano, to which she said that you wanted your coffee light, this is light. Now to be clear, I drink cold brew 2 times a day, 7 days a week and I also brew my own coffee time to time, so I know what I am talking about. At this point I asked back for my money, which they gave back, but at no point did they accept that the coffee was poorly made nor did they take responsibility for their sneaky behavior,where they tried to pass on americano as cold brew. They decided to blame it on me that I am the one who doesn't like strong coffee, but they were totally oblivious that they were selling coffee colored acid to their customers. Apparently, they have a recipe, but I can guarantee that nobody at that place has ever tasted this recipe of theirs, because of you are blessed with taste buds you could taste how awful it is. On the positive note, their lemon tart is good, hence the two stars. Also, service is not impressive, but because they are a new establishment I could imagine that they are still figuring out a few things. read more

After waiting for an additional 30 minutes after my friend received her meal (even though we ordered together) I finally get my food as she is finishing hers and there is a long hair inside it. The management was not nearly as accommodating as they should have been in a situation like this. They prepared my food again but the eggs were half cooked obviously rushed and after all that no one came by to apologize for the service and lack of quality. I've been a loyal customer here for years, introducing friends and family to this location. Will not go back and will encourage others to do the same after this experience. read more

Nice coffee stop, nice desserts. Chocolate fondant was fairly good, the salmon toast was quite good. Excellent service from the cashier, barista and everybody there. This location is quite dated and needs remodeling. Café latte was deeply beautifully strong. Good value for Burlingame. The display case of pastries, cakes, cookies & sandwiches is unreal, but fresh and delicious, like they're ready for food photography. Talking with owner Ramine (sp?) was also a treat, learning what it takes to make this store--which failed by prior owner--such a huge success. Look up and down the street and this is the only store with people lined up out the door on a Friday at 10 am. There's always a great reason for success. read more

Started my day off at Caffe Central, which was already booming with people the moment I walked in, a good sign already! I really enjoyed their extensive selection of coffee beverages, and I went straight for the Cappuccino; it was yum! My sweet tooth drove me to try the French toast dish with berries, a perfect combination of naughty and nice, with syrup and hearty fruits covering my entire plate. This place is incredible. Every time I visit my brother, who lives near by, I make it a point to come and eat the breakfast in Caffe Central. This review is coming from someone who lives in NYC and has access to some of the best restaurants in the world. All the dishes taste great and are made of high quality ingredients. From the chicken to the eggs, everything is flavorful. The service is also great at this place. I highly recommend this place for a solid breakfast. This is a fantastic place--if and only if you know what to order. On our first and second times here we clearly had no clue and the food we got, e.g. one of their salads with avocado-centric items and also their quiche--not good, underwhelming for flavor and execution. My husband got one of their pastries and loved it, though I'm not sure that's saying much, given he has a sweet tooth of epic proportion and if it's sugar, he'll love it. I got a lemon type bar/cake, which might've been pound cake, but again I might be overly harsh, given I'm much more picky than my husband. This is the "order at the counter" and take a seat till your number is called kinda place ... btw., they have examples of what the food will look like behind a see through wall: all the food is more "assembled" than actually cooked per se, fyi. The vibe here is wonderful: warm, inviting, cozy (assuming it's not pandemic times). When we went here, they were seating inside--before COVID--and it's the perfect place to bring a book, a tablet, a smartphone, a laptop ... you get the idea, and just relax or do some work in a convivial atmosphere. It's also a place I'd love to meet a friend for a cup of coffee, which btw., is the best thing about here--the coffee/tea hot beverages, and there's no dearth of cold drinks as well. This is my third horrible experience here. I'm always giving them the benefit of the doubt the two times I went was during a busy time and they had two people behind the counter. Let's be honest sometimes even our favorite places have an off day. But after the third time of horrible service and yet again they get my order incorrect. I will not go there again. Besides the fact that it took over 20 minutes for a breakfast sandwich, they got my order wrong. I don't eat pork and I asked for them to sub it with turkey. That's all not hard especially since I only had one item. When I got home and opened my sandwich it had ham on it. It's just ridiculous after waiting for so long. But once you've ordered, paid almost $20 for a small salad and waited 20 minutes for them to throw 5 ingredients together, it's just okay. My beet salad was just okay, and very small, and not worth the $$. I asked for them to add tofu to the salad and I got a side of bbq tofu to go with my citrus salad LOL just overall not impressed. read more

Great selection of tartines, avocado toasts, quiches, salads, pastries, and some breakfast fare. Love the execution and presentation of all their food and beverages. If latte art is your thing, this is the place to be. Tried their Olympic and North Beach tartines and both were very flavorful with flaky pastry. The mushrooms were well seasoned and prepared, and how can you go wrong with smoked salmon. The fruit and yogurt parfait was wonderful with nuggets of raisins in the granola. The mocha was delicious without being over-sweet. Only gripe was that the food took a long time to arrive, even though it should only have been heated up. I'll definitely be back to try other items, but will avoid the lunch rush so as not to spoil the experience. Really good stuff! read more

We went with high expectations because we are frequent customers at Soul Grind, and we love it there. I will start by saying we were there during Saturday lunch rush. We placed our order and sat at the only available seats, in the hot sun. With a baby. We waited. And waited. And waited. 1 hour later, after 3 times going in to check on the order, we were brought our food with apologies and no explanation. I suspect it was made as a to go order, even though we said it was to eat there. I think it sat on a shelf waiting for us until someone finally realized what was going on. I was particularly frustrated because we pay for the order up front. I feel like apologies and an explanation were the least they could offer, and maybe a complimentary drink or treat. If it was a situation where we hadnt already paid, we would have left and refused to pay after all that time. It was pretty ridiculous. We watched people who came long after we did, get their food. We asked 3 times and were yold that it was being made. It was simple dishes. The food is good, but i do not recommend going there when its busy there was a lot of staff walking around, this was something that should not have been overlooked. read more

One of the best coffee and pastry shops on the ave! Stopped in for a latte and quick bite to eat and was excitingly overwhelmed by all my options! Between the beautiful pastries (a whole display case, at that) and breakfast choices it was so hard to decided! I am not an avocado eater AT ALL but their avo toast had this non avo eater drooling and contemplating ordering! I ended up with the ham and burrata quiche which came with a delicious side salad. Ahhhh this is hands down one of my favorite spots in Downtown Burlingame. It is a great place to have brunch or get some coffee and work on your laptop. The sweet and savory options are delicious and varied but I always find myself going back to the tartines. 10/10 recommend. read more
