The food was always excellent, the portions very large and the service friendly and fairly attentive. We'd not been back in over a year (living in Illinois), but we recently moved to the area - and went back for Sunday Brunch. What a shock. The food was terrible: The hash brown cakes (not home made potatoes any longer) were tiny and almost burnt. The bacon overcooked and the eggs cold. The portions were small. The service was indifferent - our served had to be asked twice for set ups, he never came by to check on the food - or how we were doing. I had asked the hostess about their old loyalty program and, not only could she not answer my basic question, when I asked if a manager might know the answer, she responded: we're too busy. I had never heard of this place until my date picked it. This place was packed with people from the moment I came on the ave so i figured he probably picked a good place. Boy was I wrong, it was a great place. From the first person that greeted us to the owner biding is farewell at the end of the night everyone and everything was amazing! My date ordered the short rib gnocchi and I ordered the Fusilli Shrimp Pesto Genovese. It was delish!! The portions are really good for the price. We also ordered tiramisu! Would never again go for a holiday. Made reservations and didn't get seated till an hour later. Badly orchestrated due to poor management. Host was a waste he did not know how to do his job properly, you got a quicker table based on what monetary note you slipped him my nephew tipped him $20 and we were waiting 35 minutes when a man with a large party came and slipped him a large bill and got seated in 5 minutes. We Never got a server, we had to get up and get our drinks, I had to look for a server to get me water. We were treated like an afterthought and when we complained to the manager Gabriel he said he'd make sure everything went well. That NEVER happened. We waited over an hour for our meal. When we complained Gabriel told us we can't expect things to always go right on a holiday, that he was short a dishwasher and he had enough problems tonight. Really??????? He took 25% off our meal and said "I told you I'd take care of you" My husband had the special lamb and it was over breaded cooked terribly and tasteless. The asparagus was like mush. My meal was not bad but my shrimp was somewhat overcooked as well! It was an aweful experience. I've been to Luna Rosa for breakfast a few times and had a good experience but nothing I'd brag about, but it obviously has gone downhill. The service and food are not worth fighting traffic on Atlantic Ave. to go there. They need more professional staff and management, my sister who has lived here for over 20 years said it used to be a very good restaurant, I don't doubt that I wish they would get their act together. read more

This review is based solely on my brunch experience. Delray Beach has a lot of great brunch spots on the Ave. This one is a good pick if you're looking for a great location across from the beach. Brunch menu has a lot going on. I went with my usual favorite -- eggs Benedict -- and I liked that they had a lot of options. I wasn't crazy about the traditional one that I had with Canadian bacon but I'd be willing to go back and try some of the other options. For fans of "the Benny" there is a good selection. They serve you bread with roasted garlic cloves marinated in olive oil. We had several appetizers which were all delicious. Bang Bang Shrimp, Lobster & Crab Martini & Caesar salad. One name you need to know: Jeff! He was so pleasant on the phone when we called to confirm brunch times and even better in person. You felt welcomed from the moment you walk up. There is limited seating outside, but even inside you can get a glimpse of the beach. Service was efficient and our waitress was lovely. Now let me tell you, I am a fan of cream chipped beef. One of my childhood staples. This was THE BEST (sorry mom) cream chipped beef I have EVER had. The drinks were also refreshing. I recommend the prickly pear margarita. Took my boss here for her Christmas present- lunch with me. Lol. We went on December 23rd. We were able to get a table right away, but it was inside and there was not much space between our table and the one next to us (for those people who need space because of COVID). The server was very nice, discussed the specials with us and was off to get my beer and my boss's iced coffee. She even brought me a cold mug, which hardly anyone offers anymore when I order a beer at a restaurant. I got the cobb salad and my boss got some salmon salad. She didn't realize I was paying but I did not care because HOLIDAYS! I really liked my salad. Everything on it was tasty and temperature appropriate. The dressing was good, not overly thick like some can be. The only thing that may have made this better would be some crackers or bread because the bleu cheese is so rich. The prices are what you would expect eating on the beach, but you get a great view of the water from the restaurant. I would totally go back, and this time my boss can pay. read more

Normally one of my 3 favorite spots in Delray, but just a bizarre experience today. They had a veal cutlet eggs Benedict on the specials, so I ordered. It came out probably 7 minutes later and after the first bite, I thought, wow that seemed cold. Took another bite or 2 and it felt like the meal came out of the refrigerator. So I flagged the waitress down and asked her to either go warm it up or cook it again. Shortly after the owner comes over to me and says you know there's a lot of cold in there? I said but the eggs were cold... he turned and walked away. 5 minutes later a fresh meal comes back out and it was honestly the same temperature. I have no idea what the issue is but I don't see why the dish should be cold!? There was a piece of prosciutto between the veal and the eggs, but it wasn't a block of ice. Every time I'm in Delray we come for Sunday brunch here. The wait is never too long and the food is always great. The watermelon mimosas is amazing! This past time we brought our pups as it had said dog friendly. There are only 2 tables where they let you sit if you have a dog, they must stay on the floor at all times. I had picked my small dog up at the end of brunch as we were paying as she was crying and was told right away to put her back down. Not a big deal but if you plan on going with your dog it's good to know. read more

We went for brunch to celebrate my cousins birthday. We were a party of six. Our table was on the patio, across the street from the beach. So happy the weather was nice, not too hot out. Their brunch menu offers several traditional breakfast items, lunch items, and a few Italian entrees. Two people in our group wanted to order from the dinner menu, but the restaurant wouldn't do that. Since it's an Italian restaurant I ordered the pappardelle bolognese from the lunch menu. It was okay. My husband ordered an omelet, which I tasted. Very good. I was sorry I didn't order that. The service was very good. Our server was friendly and went out of his way to be helpful. The tip was already added to our check. I don't know if they add the tip to all checks, or ours because we were a group. They have valet parking, but we found a spot on the street. read more

We always loved coming here. Food was always good and service too. This morning we went for breakfast. They do not serve decaf coffee. It's regular coffee or whatever comes out of the espresso maker. So I drank water! Waitress was just fine. I wish I could tell you her name but she never introduced herself. I had an omelette. It was good but needed salt. The salt shakers don't work , clogged by moisture. There is a fix for that! As soon as you sit they come with OJ. That's fine but it's not included with your meal. My toast is 1. Yes 1 slice cut in half. Needless to say I was disappointed. Parking is either by valet, a fee! Or meter parking on the street. Sorry to say I have lots of other places I'd return to read more

Horrible customer service. We took our young family and service animal to have breakfast. The Restaurants was nearly empty and we asked to sit outside in the shade. We were told that's the only table we could sit at was the one directly in the sunlight and furtherest from the door even though there was a dozen empty tables outside. I asked politely If we can sit at the table right beside the one directly in the sun ligh and we were told they would check with the owner who did not permit dogs or service animals. To our amazement the owner came out and said we could sit at the table in the shade but said "only if you make it quick". It's shocking that an owner of a restaurant can lack such basic customer service skills. As a seasonal resident of Delray, we have been going to Luna Rosa for the last 20 years and it has always been one of our favorite spots for breakfast and dinner. The past two visits (November and December) have been very disappointing in terms of food quality. The service is great but the kitchen is not the same. Loved this place. We dined on the patio and when a storm brewed they closed the sides. We were fortunate enough to see a rainbow which is always a magical experience! I knew this was going to be good when the fresh bread and warm evoo with roasted garlic arrived before the menus. I enjoyed a nice a glass of wine while relaxing and taking in the scenery. For me this was as good as NYC Italian food. The veal was tender and the red sauce was delicious. The bang bang shrimp was tasty with plenty of shrimp. The burrata was creamy and the meatballs perfection according to my husband. I had to try them and completely agree. I wasn't in the mood for a heavy meal so i opted for the mahi mahi tacos.
