Cannoli, Cannoli, Cannoli... The cannoli here are exquisite! Super crisp shells, rich, complex filing with hints of cinnamon and spice! OMG! In Cannoli people often confuse size with quality. These are smaller, maybe 5.5" x 1", but so deep and rich that they are 10x better than larger flavorless versions elsewhere... ok everywhere else! This is very old looking establishment that looks as old as Mulberry street and NY itself. I guess they feel they are busy enough that they don't need to put any money back into the look of the place. Are the rear of the shop is a very cool looking bar that's a completely missed opportunity for bar side treats and eats. They need to clean it up and rethink all the junk piled up... they could serve twice as many people and brighten the place up too. read more

On a fair note I can give this pastry shop an average rating. It does everything on the average side of any given pastry or bakery but for the quality it puts out that is a slight higher than the average I give it a 4 star merit in it's category. There were several selections we chose and shared. Presentation is important, no?...of course, in a treat. The first was an oval shaped (5 inches in diameter about 3 inches tall), plump, mini cake-like cheesecake. It had a vanilla coated top shell with an oreo cookie in it's center. It taste sweet and with a vanilla flavor. It did not have a strong memorable flavor to it. It was just an average pass by snack not to be remembered. The second of the same design was a darker brown shade all around with a swirl of chocolate syrup on top and that was my favorite choice. It being a chocolate cheesecake. This mini cheesecake had a stronger chocolate flavor over the cheesecake flavor. The texture of all the 3+ varieties of mini cheesecake slanted toward more cheesecake than cake. They were very moist, mid level flavored with chocolate/vanilla/etc... and a light cheesecake taste. I also enjoyed their cannoli. It was huge, the size of a sausage. I might eat a cannoli once a year. And in comparison I only wish the flavor of the cream filling inside was more intense in the side of ricotta/cream cheese flavor, it was very light. But the way it was made in the outside shell coated in chocolate and a double layer of crisp with the cream sticking out gave it a nice crunch factor mixed in with a delightful cream+chocolate chew. Dust some sugar on their mini croissant or other pastry treats and these reasons I would surely go back while in the area and craving a sweet treat. The coffee is good too. read more

Moments after walking in we were immediately greeted with pleasant welcomes and good conversation. The espresso was magnificent, bold, and authentic The cannoli was masterfully crafted, with warm spices that complimented the richness of the filling. The Italian Cheesecake was rustic and delicious. I promise you won't be disappointed. The candied citron cuts through the luxurious filling and offers a brightness that just works. After a night out and in the area I love hitting up this old piece of Little Italy and grabbing a box of home made treats to bring home for next morning's breakfast. There is nothing like having a hot cup of coffee when recovering from the previous night's partying and dipping a tasty piece of anisette cookie or sesame cookie in it while watching TV. Dropped in here the other night on the way home and filled up a box of their terrific cookies - enough for a few days! Well made stuff here. All types of Italian pasties. Okay pastries, they looked much better than they tasted, and so-so service. I ordered a hot tea - it was 19 degrees outside - with honey, and the honey never came. Our server never came back so I got up to ask about the honey. She realized she forgot to bring it and said she would do so in a minute, but it again never came. I had to get up a second time and just ask for it to be handed to me to take back to the table. Accidentally walked into this store when my friend and I were trying to look for M'O IL Gelato.. opps! But we didn't regret staying bc the tiramisu and cappuccino was delicious! It was just the right amount of sweetness since I'm not a big sweets person, but we just had lunch and wanted desserts afterwards lol. The staff was super friendly and the price was perfectly fine. While, I feel any restaurant in this neighborhood never gets a fair shake on Yelp, this one for whatever reason gets penalized by tourists the most. As a lifelong New Yorker, I have to remind you to read between the lines and trust your own eyes and tastebuds. That being said, we picked perhaps some of their best items are were satisfied enough to give them 4.5/5.0 While you might be tempted to trek to any of the Little Italy bakeries for their coveted cannolis (I don't blame you), I don't recall a time where any of them, cookies too, are made on premises anymore. Given that, my recommendation is to try their cakes and coffee to enjoy the full experience. While this place doesn't get the foot traffic of some of the others in the area, you do get a different ambiance by sitting down in a warm, darker toned café, and far less noise and commotion. I'm sure many of you appreciate being able to hold a conversation without shouting. The owners are always present, and friendly. If there's an issue with the dessert, say something! We tried the tiramisu, red velvet, and chocolate cakes. They were perfect, with our coffee-based drinks. The cakes were soft and pliable with our forks. 4.5/5.0 read more

I wonder if perhaps my judgment is clouded by the circumstances surrounding it, but on a recent night here I had THE BEST TIRAMISU I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. Great cannoli, superb espresso (naturally), great Italian cookies. The setting can be either romantic (if there aren't too many people there and the wait staff can be more attentive) or downright CRAZY (if the place is jammed up with tourists, which happens a lot). Best to avoid if the tables are all spoken for at the moment, because they will forget the order you came in, and watching some Australian dude with a fanny pack get seated before you, even though he came in after you, is a soul-crushing experience. Dropped by here and had a Neapolitan cake with a cap. Service was okay but the bill was double charged. I was also asked as I was still having the cake whether I wanted the bill. The place was not that busy at the time and I thought just because I was typing on the iPhone for a minute does not mean I am done with my dessert. I thought desserts are meant to savour? Maybe I have lived in the west coast for too long. It's a busy place and lots of people are inside going in and out. A few of us walked around Broome Street where one of us was in need to utilize the facilities, which we stopped by Caffe Roma Pastry. I bought a cannoli as an excuse to use their facilities. The lighting is very poor as it's very dark and errie feeling. The staff is unwelcoming as we were given the most rude scowl looks when ordering our pastry. I also felt ignored and not served properly. Personally, I believe managment and staff are anti-social as they appear to hate serving customers.
