#19. Baked Coconut Chicken Portuguese Style on Rice
    Hubert Y.

I came with a couple of coworkers on my first visit and it turned out to be ok for a newly opened place. Got seated right away, service was friendly. Got the Seafood Chow Mein, and found it quite sparse (maybe because I was quite hungry) but taste-wise, it's average, nothing out of the ordinary. They were able to do separate bills which is always the preferred when dining with coworkers. A month later, we came for our second visit, however, the service seemed to have gone awry. We had a group of six and got seated at the only table for six in the middle of the room right away. Then a few minutes later, another server asked us if we had reservations and we said no. She told us that this table for six is for *person's name* and she wanted us to move. We were like, ok, move us where? She left and came back a few minutes later and said it's ok. Fast forward to ordering--from the get go we asked for separate bills and the server said no problem. After taking our orders, the items starting to come. The drinks that came were all wrong which is fine, we just had to tell them what each of use ordered again. Then the soups that came with out food came, also wrong, so had to tell them what we ordered again. Then the food started to come one by one. I chose the Mix & Match (Mixed Grill) option of Pan fried Chicken Steak + Cutlet Fish Fillet, got the fries, black pepper sauce and cream soup. Hands down, the better value compared to the Seafood Chow Mein I had on my first visit. OR maybe I was just really hungry again. Would I order this again? Probably. Now that everyone finally got what they ordered... and more -- there was hair in one of the dishes. And no, it's not from my coworker's because she's blonde and the hair is black. So we informed one of the servers. She was quite apologetic and told us that she would comp the meal and asked if my coworker would like a new one. Since she's 2/3 in, she's pretty much done and don't want one. After we're done with our meal, we asked for the bill (a number of times). Somehow they just never got around to bringing the bill. And because we had to head back to work soon, we finally got up pay up front. When we got up there, we were told that the server had issues separating the bill. I don't know how it was entered but the items on the bill was all over the place. With the long line up behind and people trying to get a table, I just told them that I would just pay for the whole thing. In the end, we were over charged for the drinks we never ordered. But that's ok. Mistakes happen. New establishment and they're still working out the kinks. I just hope the next visit will be better. I'm hopeful.

Long lines at both the Yaohan and Henderson Mall locations speak to how popular it is, and the pricing sits in the affordable range for generous, full-meal plates rather than snack-sized portions. The overall value proposition is strong: you get real-deal HK café flavours without feeling like corners were cut. Dishes come out fast and hot, and the kitchen does not skimp on proteins--whether it's pork chops, chicken, or beef, plates feel properly loaded rather than padded with carbs. Despite the crowds, service is efficient and geared toward turnover, which suits the food court setting and keeps waits manageable once you've actually ordered. It's the kind of place where you grab your tray, sit, and eat rather than linger, but it delivers exactly what you come for. Given the combination of flavour, portion size, and price, Cha Don is an easy recommend for Hong Kong café fans looking for a quick, satisfying meal. The only real downside is the lineup; at peak times the queue can be enough to make you think twice. Still, if the line isn't too long, it's absolutely worth returning for another round.

Cha Don has only been opened in Henderson Mall for 2 weeks and the line is insane. (Even went back a month later and it's still ridiculous.) Most of the dishes are under $16 but some of the items are not available till after 11:30. That's includes the baked rice dish and spaghetti and the minced pork patty rice series. This will quicken up the long time for those breakfast goers but sucks if you're craving either of those. So the first time I had gone, there were lots of mistakes in orders and the long lines. There was also a sign in front of the cashier stating that they will only take CASH or E-TRANSFER...So be prepared! By the look at more recent reviews, it seems like they're still working out the kinks and the line is still 30-45 minutes. Maybe by this spring they'll figure it out? Just know there are lots of good options if you're not willing to wait.

I used to come here often with friends and families for breakfast and wanted to see whether it still tasted just as good. We each got two items from the breakfast combo, A through D. A to Cs are our usual options and upgrade to French toast. The eggs were somewhat on the drier side and i personally prefer fluffy ones. The beef noodles and the congee continue to be my favorites. The beef noodle broth is flavorful and the congee definitely comforted my soul. The items listed in D are always a miss. We have tried all items and none of them was delicious. For example, the steamed rice rolls were very doughy. Other times, they were very dry. The items in D sometimes felt like they're frozen dim sum items sold at grocery stores. Service is a hit or miss depending on which server you get. Sometimes you get servers who come and refill tea and provides actual service. Other times, no one comes by at all even when there is no tea in cups, etc.

The dessert at the end was a surprise. Expecting red bean soup but got a Chinese jello instead. Prawns were amazing too. Salted egg flavour and sweet and sour pork had wok hei! Service could be a bit slower but it's a Chinese restaurant. So i get it. Everything was gooood! Portions were generous and the taste on point. The washrooms could use a bit of cleaning as well as the flooring...so had to take away a star. Would go back for sure! Overall tho, good comfort Chinese food at reasonable prices. Cheers! Happy eating!

An entree comes with soup of the day and we got cream of mushroom soup. Drinks we got lemon iced tea and were made perfectly and refreshing. We got the sizzling plate chicken steak with black pepper sauce and pasta. Had two pieces of chicken with a crispy skin on top of grilled onions and vegetables. Black pepper sauce was more on the garlic sauce side but went well with chicken. The baked pork chop and prawns came half and half with red sauce and a white creamy cause for the prawns. The sauces were flavorful and had aromatics from actual slices of tomatoes and onions. Would prefer more of a broiled cheese on top.

There was a dish cart full of dirty dishes in the center of the dining room piled high. Throughout my dining, it remained. We had multiple breakfast dishes, from congee, rice rolls, macaroni in soup to French toast, they all fell below our expectations. The foods took long to serve but the food temperature was just warm. The tastes were bland and nothing really stood out. Drinks were mediocre but the Ovaltine was not sweetened and diluted. The only good thing was probably the many parking spaces due to located in a strip mall. Overall disappointed.

Despite the name "cart" in the Chinese name, they don't have cart noodles on the menu. Saw some people getting orders there, on a not super busy day at the food court. The menu has various HK tea cafe style sandwiches, rice, and noodles. I got the minced beef with egg over rice. This comes with a drink, and I got the milk tea, which was not super sweet but not bitter either. Took 10 min to get the food. Comes in a good sized container. The portion is pretty big as I was only to eat a bit over half. As for the taste, the minced beef is in a tomato-based sauce. It's HK style so the it's milder than traditional pasta sauce. Includes a sunny side up egg on top which you can break the yolk and mix with the rice. Decent flavors, goes down easy. Overall price was $17.5. Not necessarily the cheapest food court offering, but still good deal given the portion.
