Popped into Cafe Piazza for brunch before a Cardinals game. I have heard good things about their pizza so I wanted to check it out. The space itself is really cool and very St. Louis. Lots of local pride and very colorful things to look at. They also have a game room which is super fun. It took us awhile to get service and we were some of the only people in the restaurant, so that was kind of a bummer! However, that didn't take away from some of the food we had . *donut party- the donuts were good. They were missing the berries, powdered sugar, and whipped cream which was also kind of a bummer but the donuts themselves were fine. *Papa's breakfast pie (you can also get this as a calzone)- this was super good! It comes with egg, bacon, sausage, and cheddar. It's also supposed to get gravy on it, but we asked for it on the side. I really loved this. I haven't really found a ton of places you can get a big breakfast pizza at in stl (Casey's anyone?) and this one hit the spot. *drinks - we just ended up getting some beers. Stumbled across cafe piazza looking for some lunch while moving. Can you talk about a neighborhood gem? The food is absolutely incredible. The toasted ravs were crispy and filled with insane flavor. The beef was perfectly seasoned. The pizza was awesome. Great char. Pepperoni has some nice spice. The calzone was the star in my opinion. We got the meatball calzone and it was stuffed full of flavorful meatballs, gooey cheese, and some tangy marinara. The crust was wonderful. The char was insane with crispy edges and a soft, airy center. We just got take out so didn't get the opportunity to take in the character and hospitality. I was headed out of the city on my way back to Indy and I hadn't yet had my obligatory order of Toasted Ravioli. So, I went onto Yelp to see what places were nearby, open and serving the local favorite. This place had good reviews and was within 10 minutes from my location. I placed an online order (through their website, I believe) which was powered by Grub Hub. Once I'd arrived at the location, I had to circle the block to look for parking (Google Maps warned that parking was difficult in this area). I went inside and was directed back outside and down the sidewalk to the kitchen entrance for to-go orders. This was a rather odd arrangement. I found myself standing, unnoticed in a hot and smokey kitchen. The gentleman who was cooking appeared angry and overwhelmed. Eventually, he asked if I was there for a pick-up...continuously cursing under his breath. I didn't know if he was going to check on it or what, so I just stood there...awkwardly. A young woman came over and asked in the sweetest and lowest voice for my name. She then went and checked the ticket. The cook exclaimed that they'd just received the order. The website had estimated 15 minutes for the order to be ready. After all, it was just some fried ravioli and calamari, and I'd driven 10 minutes there prior to circling the block for parking. I find it hard to believe that they had just received the order. He said it would be about 10-12 minutes. I went outside, to avoid smelling like a fry-cook myself, and went to move my car closer to this entrance. It was too late! My daughter immediately said I smelled like fries. Why, pray tell, are customers being sent to the kitchen to retrieve their own food??? Eventually, I got the food. After enduring more fussin' and cussin' from the cook who came outside to hand me the food and then realized that it would probably be nice to have a bag. He seemed well-intentioned, but genuinely overwhelmed. He said "I can't!...they got me cookin' and servin'....I can't. I cannot." Just then, the gentleman who'd sent me back there from the inside of the restaurant entered the kitchen and offered the cook some statements in an attempt to placate him. He pointed out that he had the two ladies there in the kitchen to assist and then pointed at me and said "she'll probably help too, won't you?!" Absolutely not! I may have been in the kitchen looking like "the help", but I was actually on holiday/vacation. To top it all off, my daughter opened her calamari to find that it had been served with marinara sauce and not the aioli that was listed on the menu. She never would've ordered it if that was the only sauce offering. This time, I sent her in to avoid them trying to put me to work again. She returned frustrated. She said that the cook had told her that he believed they were out of it, grabbed a random container of sauce, squeezed some out into a to-go sauce cup and sent her on her way with no explanation or description. Turns out that was just garlic butter...but it was better than marinara in my daughter's eyes. The food was just meh. I ate the ravioli while driving and it was okay. The customer service aspect of this visit definitely overshadowed the food. Maybe we would have had a better experience dining in, but we may never know. read more

The food was fairly good. I was very satisfied overall with the quality ingredients and quantity. It did take a bit of time to prepare and I had to wait extra time as my order was first prepared as a pizza, which i could had just taken, but I really wanted a calzone and had been waiting to order one, so I therefore had to wait a bit longer for them to make what I wanted lol which was not the best for me as I was super hungry already. The flavors did not pop as I expected but they probably rushed some to make the correction. I will definitely return so they can redeem themselves. read more

What a cool neighborhood pizza place. it is Italian Sicily influenced. The salad surprised me as l ordered to convinced myself to be healthy. It was fantastic. The Supremo pizza has great ingredients and was good. I judge a pizza by the crust and their pizza was tasty each bite. We will return. Might be our new favorite pizza! The mural on the ceiling and the art on the walls make this a very special place. Plenty to look at and take in. Horrible service but I totally blame that on whoever is training these people. No one in the place seems to know what they are doing. It took forever to put my order in. When my pizza came after a hour my drink had been empty for at least 30 mins. First they set my pizza on two different tables before getting to me by a customer. I finally got someone to take my drink order after asking twice. 1.5 hour in waiting for a drink & asking for a to go box and still didn't have it. On top of this the waitress took my order 3 times & even came back over to confirm. It was supposed to have green olives & came out with green peppers. The pizza was soggy & cold by the time it was passed to me. I also ordered the Caprese salad which was supposed to have a spring mix & it was just soggy iceberg lettuce. It feels like they don For 11" pizza, salad & two drinks $67. I really wanted to like this place as I live right around the corner & can walk here but after this frustrating experience I will not be back. read more

This was a nice little place to stop before a concert at Off Broadway. The inside was buzzing with character, there was a nice selection of beers, and all of the food we tried was good. They were a bit short staffed the night we went but the server and cook were great and the food was worth the wait. This is a solid pizza spot for thin chewy wood fired pizza. I will say that while the space is really cool and eclectic, the service was surprisingly low energy. The person serving us was very efficient with keeping our drinks full, following up after we got our food to provide napkins and getting our check, but it was not personable or very welcoming. This is an alright place for cheaper Italian fare. It's nothing overly special, but not horrible. One great plus- they almost always have a Groupon available. I highly recommend you get one, if you want to save a few bucks. The service isn't terrific, but I suspect that depends on the day and how many people are working. We finally had to go ask for menus at the bar, and the guy behind the counter seemed irritated. We finally did get table service, and that server was much more friendly. I had the chicken parm panini and chips which were both very good. The rest of our group enjoyed the calzone and pizza that they ordered. They do have stacks of trivial pursuit cards on the tables, which we had a lot of fun with while waiting/eating. I'd say this place is great for lunch or a super casual dinner. Get a Groupon and give it a try. Probably wouldn't bring a first date here, though. read more

XD Great thing is we can actually log into our Stern accounts with these pinball machines, and track our progress. Went to see a friend play a show. The space is really interestingly decorated. I could have stared at the ceiling for 4 more hours. They are also showing people's art. I ordered two large pizzas to celebrate my dad's 85th birthday while we were sitting at SLU medical center for my mother. We ordered an all meat and a meatball. Both were very tasty but i think the meatball had the edge. My only complaint was the ordering process. They use a phone app called Slice. I'm not sure why but I could not order a custom pizza, my dad's favorite is the very pedestrian pepperoni and sausage. I messed with the app for a full 10min and just couldn't find a way to do a custom pizza. So, I looked up the phone on the website and it sent me back to the app! So I ordered what I could. The pizza was ready when I picked it up so no issues there. I'd order from there again and the restaurant looked like a cool place so I wouldn't hesitate to dine in either. read more

Ive been here a few times now and I think its pretty cool. They have decent pizzas and calzones and a good selection of beers. But to me, what sets this place apart is the arcade. In the back, they have a fairly substantial arcade. Not as big as a typical arcade, but much more than you'd expect a restaurant to have. They have probably have a dozen or so pinball machines, a few regular video games, and they even have a few other things like darts and I believe skeeball. I've only been here for lunch, and its always been pretty quiet at that time of day, but it seems like a good place to hang out, play some games, and grab a bite to eat. So I was looking all over for Benton parkade, but couldn't find it, then I realized it's part of Cafe Piazza! If you're looking for a place with good food, fast drinks and games to play with friends in Soûlard, this is the spot! Many people were here for brunch and lunch but we came here for the pinball. The drinks were flowing... glasses filled to the max... and the food was Bottomless brunch is on saturday and sunday from 10a-2pm, no reservations, and you can do for $15 or (bloody mary's) for $18. You can sub cranberry juice for orange juice if you like! The price for the quality- TOTALLY WORTH IT. We waltzed in around 12pm on a sunday and there were a few large parties enjoying brunch. It took some time for us to get service but I believe there was only one bartender/server for the entire place. Be PATIENT with businesses during this time. He did a fantastic job keeping our glasses full, getting our food, and handling any questions or concerns we had. - Tip: START with the doughnut party! They are warm and fluffy... dip in the whip and DEVOUR. -Tip: Try one of the pizzas (YOU CANT GO WRONG WITH ANY). Whether it is the mama sicilian, peasant pie, or papa's breakfast pie..they will all have their own unique combination of various meat and cheeses.. topped with peppered gravy (YUM) or balsamic for the peasant. It would be a 5 star review but I had to wait 10-15 minutes for my order. I used their online ordering app and it appeared my order was 'misplaced'. I even arrived 15-20 minutes after my scheduled pick up time. Other than the pick up hiccup, the food was great and full of flavor. Despicable service this evening and upon calling to speak with a manager regarding the order mishap, she (the female bartender / rude employee) indicated she was indeed the manager. Needless to say the conversation was even more disrespectful, unprofessional & ultimately repulsive coming from a local business. Ordered very specifically via Uber Eats and opted to pickup. My ticket clearly stated cafe salad NO MOZZARELLA, luckily before leaving I checked the order and there was mozzarella on the salad. I would've been both inconvenienced & unable to eat the salad had I actually made it home. I walked back inside and advised the "manager" in error the salad had cheese. She grabbed the bag, said "ok" and returned a couple minutes later. She handed me the bag and carried on. No apologies, simply put she was very brash & dismissive. Defiantly not what I'd expect from an employee of an establishment I've been a patron of many times and certainly no "manager" would be so uncouth in the handling of a customer. Needless to say I will never return to Cafe Piazza. Service was good. It was supposed to be Happy Hour , but there were only 3 other people there. Interesting little place. The arcade is different. I wish I could say something good about the food. I really wanted a sandwich and they serve paninis. But after sitting there for quite a while I was told the kitchen was out of bread and would like something else. I chose toasted ravs with marinara. Not my favorite. Slightly overdone and quite crispy, the pasta was really thin. Sauce was good. I want this to be a good place since it's only a couple blocks away. I've been a champion of Cafe Piazza since they opened. Unfortunately after our latest experience we'll probably go elsewhere next time for pizza. Don't get me wrong, their pizza is delicious but my recent experience left something to be desired. We ordered online and I arrived at the estimated pickup time. No one else was there and I let a waiter know I was there for my order. He said it was almost ready, so I waited... and waited... and waited some more. While I was waiting, no fewer than 3 people came in carrying pizza boxes with incorrect orders. The waiter offered to remake an order so I thought maybe that's why I was waiting so long - all the incorrect orders? As one guy was waiting for his remade order, a waitress at the bar offered to comp him a drink. He said he didn't drink and she said "well I can't relate!" Could he not have any water or soda then? The original waiter who knew I was waiting had seemingly disappeared. And I was starting to get concerned when a table of three that had arrived after me got their order, as did another party in the adjoining arcade. The waitress bringing the food out caught my eye and went to check. Lo and behold, the order had been ready for who knows how long, just sitting there. She was apologetic, but I was sort of dismayed multiple people saw me waiting but never put 2 and 2 together. Finally I got our food home only to discover the pizza sizes had been switched between the two we'd ordered. We'd paid $20 for a small then. My husband was disappointed since he was hoping to save some for lunch the next day. Some might say I lucked out since my pizza was bigger then! ‍ the food was delicious if not somewhat cold by that point, but maybe not quite worth the wait. As I relayed my story to my husband, he recalled he had an extraordinarily long wait to pickup food the last time he'd been there too. All in all, it was a lackluster experience and I think we're going to look elsewhere next time. read more

This place is amazing! From the outside, you would never know that there was so much art and uniqueness inside. There's a gaming area as well as a food area to enjoy all in one place. Parking can be a little bit tricky but that's OK as long as you're OK with a little bit of a walk sometimes it's always a great place to go. There's stickers everywhere and art as well as some unique pictures that you can buy from local artist. The food here is amazing and it's really great price as well. Definitely need to check if you are wanting some good pizza or just a really great time. read more

Only writing this review for management to see this. We went in around 8 pm on Friday Jan 26. We were soo excited to try and was super impressed by the art work! However after waiting ten minutes no one came to serve us and we saw a guy working all by himself. He went up to the other two servers letting them know how there was tables waiting to be served. One was doing to go orders I suppose and the other was wearing glasses both women. I overheard her telling him that she wasn't interested and didn't want to work. She then went to talk to people at the bar and you could see how upset was the guy working. He was frustrated and it left a bad taste in our mouth to watch him have zero help. Another couple left due to no one serving them and so did we. I hope whoever sees this looks at the cameras and see what happened last night! Unfortunately we won't be returning due to the awkward situation but I felt like it was a review that was needed to be written. Our server was rude and seemed like he could care or less about his job or taking care of guests. We love this place! It has such a hip funky vibe to it - it's hard not to have a good time while eating here! This has to be some of the best pizza located near the benton park area!
