Calafia Kitchen is a hidden gem...so welcoming with casual atmosphere. We already knew their breakfast and lunch was excellent, but we thought we would try dinner. It was EXCELLENT and large portions. We had chicken Milano pasta, chicken piccata, chipotle prawns, and pulled pork sandwich for our table of 4. We all raved over all the dishes, along with Romeo providing excellent service and recommendations. read more

I came here for lunch with my very picky grandparents. They really liked how clean the restaurant was and how nice all the servers were. They got there early and so they just had coffee and waited for us. They said the servers were really nice even tho they had been waiting for quite a while. I love that they didnt rush them and made them feel comfortable. The food was really good too! I trued 3 different tacos, which were all really flavorful and assembled beautifully. My grandma loved the little flowers that were on her plate and thought the food was really good too. I personally love tea and they had such a nice selection of different teas to choose from. Very inviting inside, but it was nice to sit outside. Staff was friendly and since they just opened, we were more forgiving on the wait for the food. A bit pricey, and we would suggest having either an appetizer or happy hour menu for those with a smaller appetite and budget. Would try it again once they are well established. read more

Came back to Calafia today and had the Mexi-Cali burger, wow! This burger came with a patty of chorizo that spiced it up nicely! Great flavor and it was hot off the grill, still steaming when I got it and the brioche was very fresh. The greens, onions, and poblano chile put it over the top. What a delightful find! I had lunch last week with a friend to celebrate her birthday and was looking for a place that serves great Eggs Benedict. I found that and more here! We were impressed from the moment we walked in, with a friendly greeting by the owner, Paula Garcia, who promptly seated us with waters and menus. This place is absolutely immaculate, and I am a little on the picky side. The surroundings provide a pleasant casual ambience, with very comfortable seating, as we spent the next 3 hours enjoying our meals, mimosas, and catching up! Now for starters, we wanted Mimosas and Paula recommended getting the split of champagne that comes with a choice of 3 juices--all for $18! That was a bargain with 3 flutes each versus ordering separately, and we got to sample fresh Guava, Orange, and Mango juices. Delicious! On to the food--I had the Calafia Benedict, substituting Canadian ham for bacon, with roasted red potatoes as the side. The portions were generous, but more importantly, the eggs were perfectly poached and the Hollandaise sauce was excellent! I can't remember the last time I had Eggs Benedict this good!! My friend ordered the Chilaquiles, and thankfully the portion was huge, so I got to share a few bites! It was as delicious as the traditional dish my mother in law made for me 20 years ago, with a unique addition of red onions. After our meals and finishing our last bit of Mimosas, Paula surprised my friend with a homemade flan for her birthday!! Of course it was delivered with 2 forks so I could share this tasty and unique dish. Our host advised that the Chef attended a specialty school in Mexico to learn how to make this and other deserts. This family owned and operated establishment is highly recommended--with a unique hybrid menu, where everything is made with fresh ingredients in an immaculate kitchen! The food was really bland and boring, but still pricey. The hash browns had no seasoning. They had some drinks that sounded good, but were expensive and no refills, so we skipped those. We came to try the food, but I guess the food isn't as important to them as the culture. read more

OK, so I really like the Mexican coffee, it's already sweet and you don't have to add any creamer. The waffles was a little hard, it came with whipped butter and regular butter. I didn't wanna put too much butter, so it was a little hard to chew. The French toast with soft and yummy very flavorful. It's a nice touch to have a slice of oranges. I am glad we have a new restaurant in town. Nice atmosphere, staff was very nice and helpful and I was able to take a Mexican coffee to go because they give free refills, they have plenty of parking and affordable pricing. I already have plans with one of my friends to go there for brunch in a couple weeks to give it another try. I gave it four only because of the waffles. read more

I've been seeing this place on a neighborhood post raving about how good the food is, so I took my husband to try it and sadly, it was just OK. I wanted to really like it but maybe I just ordered the wrong menu item. My husband had the Cheese steak and onion rings. I had the bacon burger and fries. We shared guacamole and chips to start. The server was pleasant and seated us right away. It is a nice atmosphere inside and they do have outdoor seating available. We got there a little early and then it started to get busier with more people. The guacamole and chips were fine. However, I felt like the guacamole could've used a little more seasoning, namely salt. My husband enjoyed his steak sandwich, but thought the onion rings were quite large and may be some people like that. It's just personal preference. My burger lacked flavor and seemed maybe not fresh, so wasn't sure if it just was not seasoned or if it could have been maybe a day old. I'm not really sure what happened there but I wasn't happy and ate very little of it. The fries were good for the most part I just like mine a little more crispy, but that again is personal preference. They have beer and all kinds of drinks available. I was disappointed and not sure if we'll go back although it looks like they have a brunch menu that is considerably more popular so maybe we'll try them for breakfast and get a different result. I'm giving 3 stars nonetheless since my husband enjoyed his meal and the service was good. read more

We were looking for a breakfast place on our way to the Sierra's for a quick bite and this place popped up. We were surprised there was not a wait on a Saturday as there really isn't a lot of good breakfast places in the east bay for some reason? If you like omelets and Benedict's then this place is for you. They also had us on the mimosas. They also have a yummy Mexican like coffee with a lot of cinnamon and other spices in it My wife had the crab Benedict that had a lot of crab on it. She doesn't like a lot of sauce, so they put the sauce on the side. I had their signature Calafia Benedict and they swapped out the ham for their Chorizo for me which was awesome. Both of our dishes had eggs that were perfectly poached, the sauce was spot on, not too heavy, and the hash browns were nice and crispy. The bathrooms were clean, and there is both inside and outside dining. They have a large patio area and a good size air conditioned inside area as it gets hot in Livermore. Service was good and you are greeted as soon as you walk-in. You can make reservations online, but we didn't. Bottom line, it is a good place for breakfast without a wait. I can't wait to try this place for lunch or dinner at some time as they have a good Hispanic flare. read more

Restaurant & bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Bonus : Happy Hour every night from 2pm to closing. Our server turned out to be the owner, Paula. We love this restaurant. The food is fresh, cooked to order and delicious. The restaurant is spotless and the staff is friendly and attentive. We eat there at least once a week. We especially love their shrimp tacos. Stuffed with shrimp, mango, cabbage, avocado and a mild sauce. I like their green salsa. On Monday they have a special of three mixed tacos and a beer or soda for $15. They also have the best onion rings I've had, and the hamburgers are huge. Super glad we checked out this neighborhood spot. They did a great job converting the old dark Starbucks to a light modern decor. Went for Sunday breakfast and food was delicious. Started the morning trying their unique house coffee that was sweet with cinnamon. We tried the red sauce Chiliquiles, Huevos Rancheros and shared a short stack. The plates were IG worthy and tasted as good as they looked! Loved that they included some chorizo in the Rancheros and the Chiliquiles had shredded chicken. The location is very trendy and clean. Patio has plenty of umbrellas snd cute string lighting for outdoor seating. Our server was on point. I ordered coffee and she refilled three times and twice water for us. Very attentive and friendly. My breakfast was great! I ordered the Calafia eggs Benedict.
