Two stars because the initial work was fine enough and the service rep and people working in the front are all pleasant to work with. That said, I would give the actual work a 1 star. My car received some scrapes and a missing plastic panel from a minor hit and run. They did a decent enough job with the paint but I was told they couldn't get the part from Subaru and they would attempt to find one from another source but I should look for the part myself in the meantime. They never followed up with that. About a year later I managed to finally get the panel and dropped it off for paint. When I received it, it actually came back looking worse than when I dropped it off. (Images attached). I could've done a better job with a rattle can. It looks like they threw it in a parts bin immediately after painting it. read more

I recently had an incident where the friend of one of my friend's daughter's accidentally backed into my car and dented the front left bumper area. She and her parents preferred to handle it outside of insurance so it was self pay so they reimbursed me. Caliber N. Lamar said they couldn't accept third party pay other than from an insurance company I believe. I was able to quickly get an online estimate using Caliber's very cool and easy to use online estimator tool (just upload photos of the damage)! I was also able to quickly get an in person review to finalize the estimate. The in person review resulted in a slightly higher estimate than the online one but it seemed reasonable. Everyone there was really helpful. The office was festively decorated for Halloween. Sandra was my assigned service advisor. We had some logistics glitches as she was unexpectedly out sick for a day or so, so someone named Carlos stepped in breifly. The guy handling the front desk (wish I'd gotten his name) was really great at communicating with me during the transition as I felt some communication balls got dropped during the process re: what I was told to expect on update timings, and I found myself having to call in a few times to request updates vs. being called, texted, or emailed with updates. However, it all worked out in the end and my car was fixed within the estimated cost and timeline! They also have a relationship with Enterprise car rental so I was able to get someone to pick me up and drop me at the N. Lamar location which made that process less stressful. Okay.. it's been some time after I took my car to the shop, so I think I can share this in a more neutral manner. Short story is I needed to get my car repaired thru a 3rd party insurance. Availability was okay; they were able to get me in within a week. I didn't communicate with caliber until the morning I took my car. The insurance rep confirmed that I could drop the car for estimate and pick up a rental after. That morning, I was assigned an advisor from caliber, and we walked the car where I pointed out the damages. My car had some dings and dents before, so I told him that I'd pay for those out of pocket if they were to interfere with their work. He assured me that they'll "get it taken care of," so off I go to pick up rental after. Before I left, he mentioned that if I decide to not go with the shop, I need to return the car before the end of the day, so I don't get charged additional storage fee. I said sure. A few hours later, the advisor gave me a call, telling me that yes, the car had pre-existing damage that would not be covered. I was okay with it, so I asked him to send me the estimate to see what's covered and not. It took him a few hours and a few texts before I finally got the estimate. When I got the estimate, practically most of the damages weren't covered. Befuddled, I gave him a call and asked why certain items weren't included when they were clearly part of the insurance report. He told me he didn't have access to the report, so I called the insurance rep I had been corresponding with, and she assured me that, of course, the shop has access (even pointed out how to access the file etc). I also asked her about some areas that I reported to the insurance, and again, she assured they're all there in her insurance report. I called the advisor back, and this time he still said he doesn't have access and he said that if I don't want to go with Caliber, I should take my car right away. I told him that he should have access to the report, and if he doesn't know how, he can talk to insurance. I gave him the rep's contact info. After a bit, the rep gave me a call, and she told me that the advisor basically said that I don't want to pay for pre-existing damages, so he suggested to take it elsewhere. I told her I am willing to pay, and my dispute was really on what's being covered. I then texted the advisor to give a full estimate (not just my portion). He said he'll send it, but also mentioned that I should take my car asap and that I will be liable for the day's rental. He also asked me to confirm this. At this point, my patience ran out. The guy kept changing his story from one to the other, kept changing the terms, kept telling different parties different things, kept telling me to take my car asap. I reminded him that since he mentioned that I would only be liable if I didn't return it the same day, I cannot confirm the charges. I return the rental and took my car back before the end of the day. I ended up not having to pay out of pocket, but this just shows blatant dishonesty that this advisor was displaying. I don't want to over generalize this experience since everyone else in the shop seems very nice and friendly, but honestly, the whole ordeal left a pretty sour taste (car issue is already so stressful to begin with), so definitely not coming back or recommending caliber. I took my car to another shop that's "out-of-network," and they really took care of it (and some more). Even when I had to come back to fix a small issue, the other shop didn't charge me for it. TLDR: if you file a claim with insurance, just go with your trusted shop rather than "in-network," and definitely go to other shops before you take it caliber, or better yet, just don't take it this caliber read more

New car with new damage. Went to a Genie Carwash on Lamar (location now closed) and the brushes had torn my mirror off. "We didn't do that" (of course) but USAA took care of it. I took it to Caliber Collision for repair of the mirror and was told it might take a day or two. Got my rental (USAA allows) and went to work. Later that day Caliber called, my car was ready! One day! They did amazing work and it was done in one day. read more

This place is unorganized and unprofessional especially Bobby. After getting my car back the first time I had to go to a different caliber to get an additional manager involved so they could fix my car correctly the second time. I got it back still wasn't right then I was told they needed an OEM part to have everything align correctly. I was in contact with someone up until my part arrived. The last text I got said they will call me in a week to schedule a time to pick up my car. 3 weeks go by , After not getting any replies , I call them to find out the part has been there and the person I was in contact with actually doesn't work there anymore. so no one was going to contact me after all? Took my car to them (after closing) for a door handle issue on my BMW. I assumed they would be much cheaper than taking to BMW for an issue that seemed like a simple mechanical issue rather than a complex issue. They were very helpful with helping me game plan the issue and save as much of my money as possible while trying to troubleshoot the issue. Highly recommended! This is the second body shop I came to after getting rear-ended. The first place offered a sky-high estimate, and couldn't even get started on the work. These guys provided a much more reasonable estimate, and did a fantastic job getting my car back to its original condition, without wasting any time. Fidel and the team provided excellent communication, and always had an estimated completion date - the prior shop we attempted to work with could not even estimate a start date. I had a tree limb fall on my 2 year old Telluride. The damage wasn't horrible to the naked eye but, because of where it was, it required a new windshield and electronics recalibration work - about $5k of work. I got several estimates around town and this high price tag was consistent with an estimate of 3 weeks of work. I was dreading this experience, putting it off because I just didn't want to be without my car. I was lucky enough to get Sandra as the customer service representative. First of all she was a joy to work with. When she did my intake, she promised to call every Tuesday and Thursday with updates. She was cheerful and kind. As a woman, I'm used to having lousy experiences working with car repair shops because then tend to talk down to you and assume you know nothing. I was so happy to work with Sandra - zero condescension - cheerful, proactive, considerate communications. She got my car done in only 5 days. I dropped it off on Monday and picked up on Friday. She figured out a way to salvage the roof which make the repair much less expensive and my insurance company was happy with them staying very close to the original estimate. The car looks BRAND NEW and she cleaned it for me inside and out. I'm sending everyone to Sandra and Caliber Collison on N. Lamar. People like her are the lifeblood of a business. I needed an estimate to repair the door on the driver's side. They didn't have any available openings until a week later. I took the car in, and the estimator looked at the car, took a couple of pictures, and told me he would send me an estimate later in the day or the next day at the latest. Over the years, I've had a few repairs at this location and this team is amazing. Scheduling through two different insurance companies was a breeze, even during Covid times. Their estimates of completion dates has always been on time, if not early. And when repairs are complicated, they get it done perfectly. I just had to write a review while this all was fresh on my brain (aka leaving Caliber Collision just over and hour ago). I got rear ended out and about off Jollyville + Braker just yesterday via a huge truck, and this being my first auto incident AND being a total newbie of car places in Austin, didn't know what to do. The person who rear ended me had insurance and I called them, and they came highly recommended, keep in mind when I hear auto shops, I think: Shady, dirty, and odd estimates/time frames, horror story nightmares. I had the insurance peeps hook me up with a 9AM appointment here, took my car here for them to assess the damages. I show up around 8:30AM, take my car in, mind you, this is all as speedy as they can with efficiency to get us through as throughouly as possible as no one likes dealing with this stuff, I'm sure. I wasn't sure if I had to leave my car or if they'd be a quick look, write stuff up and send me on my way. I had the pleasure of having Tyrell walk me through the whole thing. I told him I was rear ended, so all the damage I have will be on the back and luckily there isn't any other damage that made it all worse. A dent caving into my back, the bumper pushed in and a scratch at the very bottom, Tyrell caught ALL these and here I was thinking, I only had a dent I encountered. He was more good at catching these faults than I was on my own car!! (Ps. I am not a car person, if I see a car, all I'd be able to tell you was it had 2 doors, 4 wheels and it was blue, very basic nondescript key terms). I handed him off my keys to grab some other details from my car, mileage and etc, and he was quick about jotting these details down, wrote up an estimate to send off to the other party's insurance that I was to be filing through and was out and back to work at 9:10AM! Usually, when you take a car into a repair shop, you expect to receive it back in better condition than it arrived there. While Caliber did remove the dents and buff out/repaint some areas (after a couple of weeks), they in the process took my strip of LED brake lights off the rear (an undamaged area) -- and didn't replace them. In fact, they destroyed them. I have to buy and reinstall a new set because the adhesive on the back has been destroyed. Did they tell us they'd done this? No. They tried to hide it under the floor with the spare tire. I'll be avoiding Caliber Collision from here on out. read more

Caliber Collision located on N Lamar was wonderful! My car was hit while parked at work - took it to Caliber Collision - got Fidel to check out the damages on a Thursday - and scheduled to bring my car in the following Monday morning! Fidel did a wonderful job at explaining what needed to be fixed. Made a copy of everything and was available whenever I called to check on the status of the repair. I got a call from him Friday morning saying my car was ready! When I went to pick up my car, Fidel walked me around the car and explained what him and his team did to my car - it looked brand new!!!!! I'm so thankful for all the work they did on my car. Went through my car insurance (which recommended them) and eventually called them for an appointment. The plus is they're pleasant enough on the phone. But I couldn't even get an estimate until almost a week later. They're not willing to accept drop ins for an estimate either. The end result? Restarted the claims process through my insurance carrier, find another body shop (associated with my car dealer), and get the estimate AND repair scheduled for the next day. Also, unlike Caliber, they put me right through to the person who handles the process for my insurance carrier. They may be great at body work. But if you can't get in to see them, it's not much help to be great. Final evaluation. A business is only as good as your first point of contact with them. In that aspect, Caliber fully qualifies for the Yelp rating of 2, "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

Fidel at Caliber Collision on N. Lamar was super professional and thorough. I took my car in for some body work in January 2020 and he went above and beyond on communication. He even touched up a spot on my car that was not part of the claim. In May 2020, I learned a clip was missing from the part of the car they repaired in January and Fidel immediately ordered the part and made the repair. I had my car back in a day.
