If you choose to gamble a different way than the casinos, then grabbing a few "scratchers" or super lotto ticket might be a fun thing to do. You can grab those just about 15 min west from town. Exit after Verdi and set back far enough West to be in California, is the California Lottery building, There are 3 or 4 "scratcher" ticket vending machines that you can grab a ticket self serve. You can also go to the counter and get a ticket for any number of games such as Powerball and Super Lotto, usually played on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule, The lady at the counter was friendly and the process is quick. I wont say I have a great track record on winning, but it's still fun to play every so often!

In this type of business the workers must remain flexible and adapt to the environment. Kind of like a chameleon. So how do you go from the friendly clerk that likes to chat up the regulars like it is a beauty salon or barbershop to wham bam thank you ma'am or sir, who is next? Some how the staff here is always up for the challenge. Warm and friendly yet efficient in busier times and genuine and chatty when it is slower. I have been in here on stormy days where the clerks have said we were the only ones in so far today to times like the events surrounding the $900 million draw coming up this week with lines far out into the parking lot. (BTW if I win I wont be Yelping for a few weeks) It is unique and fun with the building straddling the California / Nevada state lines. There is a line in the middle of the store that let's you know when you have crossed over. Easy parking, great handicapped access, and feels lucky. Well, not always when you are checking your tickets for past winnings. (Did I mention, I hope to win?) Best of luck when ever you play, if you are fortunate the Lottery will pay, and stop by here to brighten you day.

09/05/17 I think this is the best place to buy California lottery tickets. It looks like it's in Nevada but it's not. You have to drive back behind the casino to where the ticket office straddles the California state line. It is tucked away back in. It is a small building and all they do is sell lottery tickets. It is just a short drive from Reno. Plus if you are hungry you can eat for cheap at Gold Ranch which is just a ways in front of the Lottery building. There are two fast food restaurants attached to the Casino and a gas station. There is a huge parking lot. The staff is knowledgeable, quick and friendly. What more could you ask for. It is CASH ONLY but they do have an ATM inside and restrooms.

    Fun fun!!!

Customer service is always great no matter how busy they get!!! The lines can be out the wazoo sometimes but they are very organized on how the line moves which is always appreciated. The store is always clean and the staff are courteous. I love getting scratchers here... ticky tickies, get your tickits!!!

Long line if you want your own numbers

The go to place to buy lotto and lottery tickets for the Reno/Sparks area. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have a question. It is CASH ONLY for the tickets. They do have an ATM machine inside if you forget this when you arrive. In addition they do sell candies, chips, ice cream and soda if you happen to get the munchies while buying some tickets. For major jackpots expect there to be a long line. This should only be used by those who wish to select their own numbers. Do not use this line if you only want quick picks! Tip: If you only want some quick pick tickets...there are two better options than waiting in the long line: 1. take the shorter line to the self help kiosk (this is currently on the right hand side by the bathrooms) and buy any qty you want. or.... 2. Buy a preprinted quick pick ticket from the worker selling them just inside the store (usually standing next to the quick pick kiosk). They are $10 each (**note this gives you $10 worth of tickets. Example for Powerball this means 5 tickets since they are $2 each) Good luck!!

Closest place to go play lottery from las.Vegas. Only about 35 minutes away. Gets a little busy when the lottery gets at a high amount.

Coming here on a holiday (Mother's Day) may have been a misjudgment/mistake. Upon arrival, my mother & I were waiting patiently at the front counter for 5 minutes. A female server (did not get her name) finally came up and asked how many of us were there, and we indicated a party of two for the outdoor patio area. We were informed that the seating would be prepared, as if we were going to be seated soon. Then, Sarah (server) came up to the front and informed us that there was actually a wait list (up to 15 minutes) and that a few parties were waiting in front of us. From there, the miscommunication began. After waiting a bit longer, Lucas (busser/server assistant) finally led us to our table outside. He asked for our drink and soup orders to get us started. He initially mentioned the soup of the day, which was the Chicken Tortilla Squash. Moments later, Sarah brought out a Tomato Bisque Soup instead. I informed her that I was extremely lost because that was not what I ordered. She said Lucas was incorrect and that the Tomato Bisque was the soup of the day. I understood, however, the bowl was immediately taken away from me. Sarah neither asked nor offered if I still wanted the soup (which I still did actually). After several moments, Sarah came to write down our order. I re-requested the soup and ordered the 1/2 lb Ham Steak breakfast plate, which came with toast, eggs, and hash browns. My mother asked for Chicken Tenders and the $9.99 Quiche Special - the slice of Bacon, Onion, and Swiss Quiche. Afterwards, we heard the nearby table ordering the quiche deal, too. However, they were presented with the option of either having the fruit or the side salad on the side. My mother was not afforded the opportunity at all, as Sarah failed to mention it. Upon food arrival, the quiche plate came with fruit. However, my mother would have preferred a side salad. This was another example of customer service lacking. Even though the execution of the food was good and met expectations, the customer service definitely left a lot of room to be desired throughout the entire dining experience. It was not as welcoming, attentive, and amiable as anticipated. The visit was filled with a lot of apologies, minimally short interactions, and miscommunications. Sarah ended up comping the bill, which was very unexpected. I was prepared to give one star, just because the service fell deeply beyond meeting expectations. However, the rating has been increased to two stars due to Sarah making it somewhat right at the end. All we wanted was a decent meal with kind service. I don't recommend visiting this restaurant on busy holidays, as they don't seem to have the capacity. This day was extremely off because that reason could be the factor.

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

I received access to a complimentary room on the 6th floor in the South Tower, which was a far walk from the elevators and located at the end of the hallway near the fire evacuation stairwell. PROS: * The check-in envelope that included the room key also had a free drink coupon from the bar, a free round of mini golf, a free carousel ride, etc. * Rewards Kiosk - printed out redeemable rewards such as a free car wash, discount on gas, $10 free credit play at Fun Center, and much more. * Fun Center was extremely fun; arcade games, rides, mini golf, prizes, and snacks * Lots of options for food & beverages onsite: Peet's Coffee, Baja Deli, The Original Mel's Diner, Boomtown Steakhouse, and Verdi Grillhouse * Boomtown Steakhouse Early Bird Nightly Special - Filet & Jumbo Shrimp Dinner for ONLY $29 * Many bar areas were stationed throughout the first floor * Variety of casino slots and table games available for gambling entertainment * Live musical entertainment at night * Self-parking was easy and accessible; not crowded during this visit; FREE * The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable * Air conditioning was incredible and kept the entire room cool especially during the hot peaks of the days * Pets were welcome to stay CONS: * Two elevators were available at the South Tower, however, one elevator was down/not operating at all until the day that I checked out. This resulted in a long wait for the elevator car. * Housekeeping staff immediately burst into my room at 10:35 AM when check-out was at 11 AM. * No complimentary/continental breakfast included Overall, the stay at this hotel met expectations. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

The room was okay--nothing special, but no major complaints. The Starbucks is always packed, which seems to be the norm here. Today, I visited the Second Street Marketplace downstairs. The young employee who assisted me had very poor customer service. He didn't acknowledge me, didn't offer a bag for the items I purchased, didn't say thank you, and seemed more interested in chatting with his coworkers than helping customers. Based on what I observed, I wasn't the only customer having issues with him. We also requested housekeeping service for our room. We were informed there would be a charge, which was fine with us. However, after the service, the room looked exactly the same. The bed was made, but that was about it. Now, let's talk about the restaurant downstairs. I ordered a steak, but they brought me chicken instead. I clearly told the waitress I wanted steak. When I pointed out the mistake, another older employee insisted that what I was served was steak. I'm pretty sure I know the difference between chicken and steak. Fortunately, Teddy stepped in, listened to my concern, apologized, and had my order corrected. That is what great customer service looks like. Even our waitress suggested that I just eat the chicken, but guests should never be told to accept something they didn't order. The casino and the room itself were good, and I enjoyed those aspects of my stay. However, many of the staff members could benefit from additional customer service training. To corporate, management, the CEO, owner, or whoever is responsible: please invest in better customer service training. Your guests deserve a better experience. #CustomerService #Management #Hospitality #GuestExperience
