My wife and I used to eat at a California Wok restaurant across Beverly Center in the corner of Beverly Drive and La Cienega Blvd. It was one of our favorite restaurant. Simple but the food was delicious. Anyway, we found this place (branch?) in Glendale and the food was also very tasty. We will surely order again. Shrimp, Chicken and vegetable soup was okay - the broth is lacking in flavor. I spotted 1 shrimp and 3 pieces of chicken. Ordered chicken wonton - all oddly shaped and not crispy, still greasy - they weren't properly drained and we ordered 30 pieces. Combination fried rice is just okay. Lemon chicken also greasy, thinly sliced with thick breading. Basically, don't order anything deep fried. What a disappointment. How do you mess up wontons like that? read more

I went here for their lunch specials and it was delicious! I could literally count the amount of Chinese food spots in Glendale in one hand and I can say that this restaurant is one of the best ones. Portions and the service were great! Servers were attentive and the flavors really hit the spot with my Chinese food craving. Now I don't have to drive down to Chinatown when we have a good one here in the area. Another thing to note is that the place is super clean. Sadly, I can't give this place more than ... I ordered sweet cream cheese wonton, veggie dumplings, orange chicken and a Thai tea for delivery. Delivery service was through GrubHub and was pretty quick. About 30 minutes which was great. Everything was packaged nicely and included utensils and napkins as I requested. The sweet cream cheese wontons were very good; more of a dessert item than an appetizer in my opinion. Both the chicken and dumplings were over done. The chicken, which was cut into thin strips was stringy, dry and tough to chew. I found a few thicker pieces and they were better but over all disappointing. The dumplings were run of the mill, standard veggie egg roll filling like you find in the frozen section of the grocery store. Nothing to get excited over. The Thai tea was delicious. I really wanted to like this place, but with two of the three main items not good I just can't Sorry there are no photos; my power is out and nothing looked good with a flash. read more

Absolutely phenomenal. Hefty portions, super flavorful food. I had the Seafood Delight and the fish and shallots were so tender and fantastic, the shrimp the perfect texture. I subbed out the sauce with a garlic sauce (I just love garlic sauce on everything) and it was exactly what I was craving. Really bummed. Ordered 100 dollars worth of food and after waiting for 45 they canceled my order without any response or reason.

Came to California Wok for the first time and we were so happy we did. Food was delicious. Cooked to order and came out fresh. They have such a great menu we had a hard time deciding what to have. We loved the spicy chicken dumplings. It came with spinach which was a pleasant surprise and the perfect addition the dumplings. We ordered Kung Pao san yan and the mix of meats and vegetables was perfect. The sauce was not overpowering and coated evenly. The chow mein and fried rice were the right mix. We added pork chop special Beijing sauce to finish our order. We ate in and the restaurant is clean and spacious. The service was excellent- always checked to see if we needed anything. My family and I picked this restaurant because my 84 y/o mom wanted to eat Chinese food, it's highly rated on Yelp, and it's located close by to where my parents live. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with decent parking in the parking lot. It's clean [[HIGHLIGHT]]and well lit and everything still looks new, including the menus! The dinin[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]g [[HIGHLIGHT]]room isn't too big; it could probably accommodate 30 people comfortably. The food [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]was prepared quickly and it came out fresh and hot. We ordered Mongolian beef, spicy eggplant, and fish filet with mixed vegetables from the lunch special section of the menu, which also comes with soup or salad and steamed white or brown rice. We got a good amount of food for a reasonable price. All of us had enough leftover for a second meal! Good tasting Chinese food is easy to find in the San Gabriel Valley where I come from. My only criticism was that dishes like kung pao didn't have enough meat, it was really good but too many water chestnuts and other crunchy veg.
