This place was so busy on a Saturday night. I made reservations ahead of time so we were seated as soon as we walked in. The front area of the place had a few tables occupied for dine in and the bar area was full as well. We were seated in the dining area at the back side of the restaurant. Our server was pleasant but seemed to be overwhelmed. We tried the following: DIABLO SHRIMP $16- 4 small pieces of shrimp with chopped pineapples. It was ok. CARNE ASADA TACOS $19- the steak was cooked well but it was bland. The side of cilantro rice ($3) was delicious. BAJA FISH TACO $22- the fish was cooked well but the it was bland as well. SIDE OF MISO MUSHROOMS $8- delicious Overall, the entrees that I've tried were just ok. For how much they charge for their dishes, they were not worth it. The sides of cilantro rice and miso mushrooms were the only dishes that were memorable. The place was neat, the service was nice, parking can be challenging because it is located in downtown Hinsdale, and the food was very average. I'll probably come back to try other dishes or just have drinks at the bar. It will not be on my top choices to eat if I crave for Mexican food though. read more

Where do I start? I have nothing positive to say about my experience. We decided to give this place a try as we're always looking to experience a new place + food. When we were seated, we were specifically told about happy hour. We were even given a happy hour menu. They would not honor the happy hour prices since we were not seated at the bar. What? 1. There was no space at the bar, and 2. Why bother telling us about it and giving us a menu? I ordered the gringo tacos. I even told my fiancée watch the server forget the rice and beans. Guess what? She did!!! The taco meat was dry, and the rice was overcooked. My strawberry margarita was excessively potent and had no strawberry flavor. I wanted to warn the other patrons, but I'm sure they'll learn quickly. It's extremely hard for me to give any place 1 star. First time, and last time. Really wanted to like this place. It's beautiful and has a huge room in back that would be good for an event. Went for a drink with my husband. $34 for two cocktails that were nothing special. Chips were delicious, but bland red salsa needs salt & acid. I was in the area on a date with my wife and after a failed attempt at another restaurant in the area we luckily found this gem!!! The space is amazing, the people were so attentive. We sat at the bar and I had a tequila old fashion (AMAZING ) and my wife has an elderberry drink which was also great. We had great conversation with our bartender and the owners were also there checking in on us from time to time. I ordered the half chicken that came on a bed of roasted sweet potatoes and asparagus. This was such an amazing plate!!! It's definitely on my top 5 chicken plates in the world to date!! Simply amazing. My wife ordered the Baja fish tacos and she really enjoyed them. Warm & very welcoming service. The owners are present and all in. Sit in the back room if you can. Cozy and great ambience!! Lovely music as well. Terrific guacamole and 2 salsas with chips. Fish tacos were spicy & delicious. Carne asada tacos a touch too "chewy" for us. Menu is set to expand so we are excited to see what is next. Excellent wine but cocktails were skimpy in size & expensive for their size. We will definitely be back but it's not priced like your typical Mexican fare so be prepared. Such a cool spot! I had heard about this place from a friend and took the BNSF to Hinsdale to check it out; it surpassed all my expectations. The place has a warm modern feel with exposed brick and candlelight making the whole place feel cozy and fun in equal measure. Even though the restaurant was packed I was seated immediately and had a drink in my hand within two minutes of walking in the front door. They somehow even knew my dietary restrictions and pointed out all the gluten free options as soon as I sat down. I sat at the bar in the cantina and the bartender, Michael, was so welcoming and funny; it felt like I had been going there for years and he knew my exact tastes. The food was phenomenal (especially the scallops) and chef Rhae Brown came out to talk about the dishes which was a fantastic surprise. The (very young) owner took the time to speak with everyone in the restaurant and made sure we all had exactly what we needed and even gave me a tour when he saw I was eating alone. This is such a cool hidden gem and feels just like those super Instagrammed spots in the West loop. I can't wait to come back and see how this place progresses. read more

Amazing Mexican with a Japanese twist. Fantastic food! We tried every appetizer, every taco, and every dessert! So delicious! Next time we'll try the main entrees. Sommelier recommended a wonderful wine and we also tried the house margaritas and espresso martinis. Very friendly, attentive service staff. Spotless restroom with quality soap and lotion. I really wanted to like Que Miso. I was excited to try a new restaurant (just opened Nov 2023) and the interior was so well appointed. But the decor and kindness of the staff are the best parts. Margaritas are okay but way too much ice. My Pomegranate Paloma was refreshing yet pricey. Chips were ample but guacamole and salsa portions are miniscule. Queso fundido was bland as was the crispy rice (which was not crispy at all). Tostada with pineapple salsa was good but again tiny portion. The Baja fish tacos do not look anything like the picture above. The dish was all slaw and again small portion of bland fish (are you sensing a theme here). And don't even get me started on the rice which looked like tiny brown pellets. The bill came and a 24% gratuity was added for a table of 5 at lunch- who does that? The manager could not be nicer and addressed it immediately. There are still some glitches with the POS. We did find out that the menu states a 22% gratuity will be added to parties of 5 or more....which I still think is absurd for this type of restaurant. Staff was nice but unless there is a MAJOR menu/pricing overhaul, I will not be returning. read more

Loved it and I'll be back! So I'm new to the burbs and was ecstatic when I found out there would be this trendy fusion restaurant opening up. My husband and I stumbled upon it on a Saturday early evening - just in time for an early dinner. I'm a huge Mexican food aficionado so I know my Mexican food. It's not your typical authentic Mexican food that you'd find in the city, but a bit more contemporary and still flavorful - and I can appreciate that! We ordered the guacamole with chips and salsa which I thought were great. We also ordered the Al pastor tacos, the chicken tinga and carne asada. We ended our dinner with the Mexican donuts. Overall, I would go back and order all of it except the chicken tinga which was a little too sweet for my liking. My favorite was the Al pastor. My husband loved the carne asada. I also had a delicious watermelon mocktail not listed on the menu but something the bartender created on a whim. Best of all, the staff and our server were extremely friendly and attentive. We had such a great experience, I would definitely be back and it feels wonderful to have something fun and new in town. read more

Ok so I never write reviews but Calle Cantina is so bad that I just had to let the world know. Four of us went there yesterday for dinner. Looking to have some good margaritas and tacos but unfortunately we went to Calle Cantina. How do you make a bad margarita at a Mexican restaurant in Hinsdale? You really have to try to do that and they succeeded. The guac was tasteless and came in this odd bowl where you couldn't even see the guac inside of because it was so high. We ordered 3 different types of tacos. The steak tacos were unable to eat as the meat needed to be cut with a knife and fork because it was so tough. Shrimp tacos used frozen mini shrimp and had absolutely no flavor. Unfortunately this place will probably be open on cinco de Mayo and a lot of people will have a very bad experience. Enjoying a wonderful, creative and memorable meal with family tonight. Everyone especially enjoyed the crispy rice and kale/brussels salad for appetizer. This fusion restaurant hits all the best notes without being obvious or standard. Totally recommend. I tried the most unusual cocktails and they were all amazing blends that work, even if you can't picture it. My recommendation is to try anything you might not normally do and it will surprise you with flavor and deliciousness (is that a word?). Last thing: ahi tuna. Prices, very high even for the zip code since it's tacos. $100 for two of us and we split rice, each had tacos, two drinks each and chips (yes, you pay for chips and salsa) which is unique for Mexican restaurants in the Chicagoland area. A beer by Stone is $10, really - why? The margarita was excellent and the bartender hustles. Could have used help from the host who wasn't busy and the owner hanging out in the middle of the bar working on his lap top. Peculiar experience but I would try again since they are new. Tacos were very good and we enjoyed the freshly made tortilla chips and fresh guacamole. The variety of salsas were very good! Elote corn was delicious as were the chocolate dessert churros. The shrimp Diablo was unimpressive. We did not try any of the Japanese inspired dishes such as the ahi tuna and crispy rice. My friend ordered an espresso martini which she did not like. The owner told her he had created it and used rum creme and espresso vodka. This is not the usual recipe and the owner should have replaced the cocktail. The space is cute but very casual. It was a Thursday night so the back room was closed and we were seated in the bar area. They need a canvas entrance covering to prevent blasts of cold air every time the door opens. Absurdly long wait to receive drinks, especially first round. They messed up our drink order twice after that. Entrees still were not served after being at the table for over 2 hours. 2 of the 4 entrees arrived cold. Both inedible. Ironically, scallops were great! Waitress avoided us as much as possible, but I can't say I blame her. Serious potential for success, but sadly this restaurant is a failure because it is so very poorly managed.
