In honor of Alicia from RHORI (we love her!) and also their reunion episode day, my family and I decided to check out the locally famous Pizza Mamma. We ordered the Detroit style Cheese Pizza and the Motor City Roni to see what all the hype was about, and they definitely did not disappoint. The pizzas were flavorful with a great crust, though I personally would have enjoyed a little more sauce. Considering the price, I also felt the portions could have been slightly larger. The Motor City Roni comes with a hot honey drizzle, but I didn't notice much of the flavor coming through on the pizza. I placed my order online, and when I arrived, the staff was friendly and had everything ready to go, making the pickup process quick and easy. My wife and I have been trying to find time to check this place out for a while. Today was the day where everything aligned right for us to finally give it a try. Walking in, you immediately get hit with that fresh dough aroma. Then you see the lineup of slices available. My wife immediately found her slice, a white slice in the New York style. There were several I was eyeballing, and then I saw one in the end that looked really good. It's the Nashville Hot Detroit Style Pizza. As soon as I heard the description, I knew that was my slice. I also ordered a chicken cutlet grinder, which is one of my pizza place standards. That Nashville Hot Detroit slice could quite possibly be one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Absolutely delicious! The dark edges. The fresh dough. The sauces on top. Absolute perfection. One of the best slices of pizza I have ever had. I felt compelled to tell every patron that walked in and asked what that flavor was that "you need to order that slice stat!!" My wife enjoyed her slice as well. I had a bite and the bottom was nice and crisp, and the slice itself was super flavorful with garlic and Parmesan being the key players. Another great slice! The chicken cutlet came out after a few minutes and was on a super fresh, toasted bun. This sandwich was delicious as well! Just lettuce, provolone and mayo, but excellent nonetheless. The fries that come with the sandwich were very good as well. Staff were friendly, service was quick. You couldn't ask for a better experience. I did come after seeing it on TV, but didn't have any expectations, wanted to judge it solely off the experience. Staff was friendly upon arrival, super cute inside. Lots of slices to choose from, detroit style or sicilian so you could get the best of both worlds depending on cravings. I got a slice of cheese sicilian style and mommas vodka with mango chicken detroit style. They heated them up for me. My boyfriend got all detroit style, of pepperoni and ricotta. It took just a few minutes to be warmed which was good. Flavors were tasty but pizza was hard and got cold quick, you could tell it wasn't fresh fresh. Maybe a whole pie is better but sadly I wasn't impressed. Lots of people were taking to go orders so it is a popular spot, but like other reviews it wasn't anything to write home about. Came here recently for slices. I'm picky for pizza.. This place hit the marks. They have a great variety of slices- this is a key point- you don't know if they'll have a full assortment when you go. You might hit the lottery and get there when a Detroit pizza comes out and you can get a slice. It goes fast. People who are eating in see those come out and all go back to the counter to buy it up. That said, the Detroit and Sicilian are 100% worth coming here for. For NY, there are a few other shops in the state I'd prefer. This one was a little on the sad side. Not crisp at all. They barely heat it up for you. They should be firing them back up in the oven to get them piping hot so the cheese remelts and it gets some nice color on the undercarriage. It's not a fantastic atmosphere, not very roomy. It's an unorganized system to order slices and then pay. They have some kinks to work out on the process of ordering and paying. That said, it's a tight space and maybe they're doing what they can. I'd absolutely come back for Sicilian and detroit. Slices ranged from $4-5.50. Got full for like $13 so can't complain. We figured we would try a new place and ordered a 16" with 5 toppings. we were told 35 to 40 minutes for delivery. I gave my card and after, I said they never told me the price. It was over $40. It arrived over an hour later, cold and with only 4 of the toppings. When I called to let them know that we were missing a topping, I was told that they didn't even put it in. And then he hung up on me. The toppings, cheese, and sauce were sparse. There were no seasonings. it was underdone. While out and about in the Providence area, I decided to check out a local favorite pizza spot called Pizza Mamma. Being from the greater Metro Detroit area, I have a high standard and a love for the Detroit style pizza that has been ingrained since childhood. Pizza Mama delivered a solid and tasty effort, but not without some issues. The Pizza was supposed to come with extra pepperoni, and while topping amount is subjective, this didn't really seem to have it. The amount is pretty standard for what you would get anywhere just ordering one topping. Also, the cheese used was minimal. If you've had good Detroit style, I would estimate their pizza to be about 1/2 the cheese you'd normally have on this style of pie. In the future I'd order extra cheese here, but then the diner is incurring additional costs on an already novelty priced pizza. Those criticisms aside, it was a tasty pizza that didn't entirely disappoint. It just didn't quite hit that top notch Detroit pizza experience either, and there's a lot better out there. I will say though, they do have some delicious homemade cookies. read more

I ordered a slice of Detroit style pepperoni and honey as well as detriot style chicken and ranch. My friend and I were going to try both and share so they were nice to cut it in half for them. I did not realize the pepperoni had a drizzle of honey so it was a sweet surprise (pun intended). The flavor was good but it was a tiny bit overly crunchy. I wish the ricotta flavor stood out more. Great new pizza shop on Reservoir Ave serving up New York, Detroit, and Sicilian Style pizzas. I noticed that they also have sandwiches, wings, and other appetizers on their menu. The inside is small with a few window seats. I ordered online for pickup. The staff enthusiastically greeted me upon walking in. Pizza Mamma offers slices but they are very limited and are first come first serve, so you're better off ordering ahead. I ordered two NY style pizzas, their hot honey and Mac & cheese and both were delicious. I will definitely be back and exploring more of their menu. read more
