I have always bought the broccoli calzones and enjoyed a slice. Lately the broccoli calzone has changed it is now round and less broccoli more garlic. The dough is not the same when it is shaped as a round pie. The slices are always pounded no simple slices like a mushroom or olive, mostly loaded with meats or way too many vegetables. The food is good in a pinch. Grew up on their strip pizza and their cannolis are my favorite around. Do yourself a favor though, customer service is really important, it can make or break your whole day. The behavior by these people, minus the owner, was the wildest thing I've ever experienced. However, unless you want to get your head screamed off by the aunt and niece when they only give you part of an order, I don't recommend coming here. I placed a large order for assorted pastries--they gave me 1/3 of the order, and when I had to go all the way back and wanted to count the rest, I was screamed at for 10 minutes straight. The niece even suggested 'taking this outside' threatening me. For trying to count my order, that was already wrong to begin with. They then told me that it was my colleague's fault for not being given the right amount in the first place? They called the owner, who then spoke to me on the phone. He was extremely apologetic, saying that their behavior was unacceptable. I tried to tell him as well that the pastries were also all smooshed and looked awful too, but there wasn't anything to be done and I wasn't going to stay in there any minute longer than necessary. Lunch might be fine, but I don't recommend ordering anything larger or for a nice event, it won't look right. And if you don't want to be screamed at or blamed for messing up your own order, then probably skip as well. There are much more professional places around. read more

Love this bakery. It's family owned and family maintained, with lots of local kids working behind the counter as well. Everything is homemade and delicious. I've never had the pastries here, only the pizza and bread, but one day I will make my way through the lovely looking sweets. They're trying new things all the time; for example, there is a Thai peanut pizza today. One of my fav items is the pizza chips - round little bakery style pizzas with thin and crispy crust with or without grated cheese. I can eat them like potato chips, so good. Okay, where to start... Anyone looking for an amazingly well made pizza (both conventional and white style with things like spinach on it) must give these nice folks a try. The fact that they are also affordable is a BONUS :) Rhode Island style red sauce pizza strips are available here and are the best in the state.... Period. The pizza sauce is nothing short of amazing. In fact, it's so good, they sell it there too. We like to buy it for homemade calzones or to mix with some meatballs for meatball sandwiches. It's always a hit. Next, the patties. Oh my goodness the pastries. They offer a wide assortment from Cannolis Cup Cakes, Cookies, Brownies and more! We like to buy a loaf of bread each time we go (they slice it in front of you with the machine). This makes for terrific sandwiches throughout the week. If you just want to try different things, they have that covered too. Pizza slices, calzones, pigs in the blanket etc are all available ala cart. We have been a regular here for over 15 years. PIZZA WAS 4.5 STARS, unfortunately it was not what we ordered. My wife ordered 2 small take out pizzas today, only to get them home to find out they were not what we ordered. I went to calvittos the other day and bought a big cannoli it was definitely old the shell was pretty soft the filling wasn't too bad but it was definitely in the case for more than two days I don't recommend buying any of their pasties unless it's pizza I really don't think they rotate their pastries properly. :( (if the bakery is reading this cannolis are only supposed to be in the case for two days and cheesecakes at the most a week). ----Sincerely 4 yr baker read more

I have always loved this place, but I am almost 100% positive I bought a 2-3 day old brownie today and the pizza chips where soggy in the middle and rock hard around the end... I made a mistake and went yesterday when I pulled up, thye where closed it was MONDAY (Brian fart) I thought they where open because there was food left in the cases. This place has gone downhill quickly. I went today and this is the fifth time that they do not have the cooked slices available. When I asked if more would be coming the arrogant kid behind the counter laughed and said no. 1401 Park Ave., Cranston. I called the bakery on May 17 and placed an order for cookies and pizza strips to be picked up on May 21. I asked the woman I spoke to if this order would be freshly made the day we picked it up because we were attending an event out of state. She said yes, because it was pre-ordered. I asked if my pizza strips can be cut in half and she said yes. On May 21 at 7:15AM my husband and I went to the bakery. I informed an employee I was picking up my order and gave my name. She could not find the order and suggested that I may have made the mistake and called the wrong bakery. I told her I called the number on their menu and that now I was upset they did not have my order. The owner then came out and we let him now the problem. Rudely he said there was nothing he could do and we could just purchase what was there. I said I was supposed to get everything fresh. His responded that his cookies only made once a week on Tuesdays. He also told me that he would not cut pizza strips in half. He was not pleasant nor did he apologize. I asked if he would compensate me for their error (in my mind maybe 1 item free). Sarcastically, he said no. I said "apparently I was lied to". He asked who I spoke to when I placed the order and then he saw my notes with his wife's name, Tina, on it. He was not happy when I said that his wife/co-owner should've never gave me wrong information. He still never apologized for his wife's mistake. My husband and I continued to make it clear we were not happy which apparently he did not like because he decided not to do business with us. At no time did we yell, use vulgar language or threatened him in anyway. As we were leaving the bakery, he threatened us by saying "I know a sheriff". This situation may have been avoided if he the owner was pleasant to us, apologized and admitted it was their mistake. read more

I used to go to Calvitto's when I was growing up in Cranston often. I moved away, and I truly missed this bakery! Now that I have moved back, I visit Calvitto's once or twice a month. Their pizza is great! Good to know it hasn't changed in the last 15 years. They sell their own dough, which tastes better and is cheaper than stuff you'll find in grocery stores! It freezes and thaws perfectly. I haven't tried all of their baked goods yet, but my favorites are the brownies. To. Die. For. this place takes me back to when I was a kid, I'd expect the staff to be some old Eyetyes but it's always staffed by girls in their late teens early 20s. The Pizza strips red and white are consistently good. I love the spinach pies here most of the time, occasionally they are a little salty but not inedible. The Lemon Squares are not something you find everywhere and are pure RI Italian bakery trash, and I love it. The hot pizza in my limited ordering is comparable to Tommy's Pizza on Chalkstone, which I really like, and is like $4 less for a large pie. I've had various other pastries here and they are hit and miss especially when they are not traditional italian stuff, the Sfog's are pretty aces as well though. read more
