Since my office is sick of pizza, I ordered Campus Burgers for our lunch yesterday. With a tight budget in mind, I ordered two dozen cheeseburgers and a few jumbo boxes of fries for pickup at 11:45 am through their website. I drove over a little early, but I was in my car and ready to go within minutes. Everyone at the office loved it. We were only a few minutes away, so the fries were still super fresh and crispy. Old school prices for an old school flavor. The burger reminded me of White Castle from back in the day. Their double patty is plain, oniony, greasy, and small. I bought the #2 meal deal for $9.99 which included a cheeseburger, fries, and a soda. The fries were a little salty but nice and crispy and delicious. Next time I would ask for my fries with no salt and add my own. The music inside was a tad loud but we were still able to sit and talk to each other while eating. I really wanted to like this spot but alas the burger fell a bit short. I ordered the single just to sample it. Upon opening it up there is small spot of sauce and some sautéed onions, the meat doesn't have any char to it, It's about the size of a McD's patty in relation. You should go with a double at a minimum as there is no salad for filler here. It could be a decent burger if you cover at least one bun with sauce and maybe use diced onions instead of slivered as they're kind of stringy as you as you bite into it. I'm not sure if the bun was even toasted, but it should have some brown crust to it. I wonder if I asked them to custom make my burger that way if they would do it because I think it would taste pretty decent. Even at 1.99, I think it's a little lackluster if you charged anymore for it, it would be a travesty. Kind of reminds me of a white castle burger if you've had it. It's a $5 smashburger, so absolutely calibrate expectations! This is the first location of Campus Burgers I've been to, but things seemed pretty solid. Spick and span; place was very clean and well kept and not too heavy of a line. As far as value goes it's pretty hard to beat a five buck double-cheese and overall it holds up pretty well, though I'm personally not as big of a fan of their other offerings. There's a smattering of parking in the lot, but it quickly gets filled during peak so street parking nearby is a better bet, and a similar story for the limited indoors seating. There's loads of covered outdoor seating though! The core burger is pretty darn good; you get plenty of umami from their sauce and grilled onions and not a dry spot in the mouth. Only other competitor in this price range is In-n-out and even to that baseline it still holds its ground. Fries are middle of the road for me. Reasonably fluffy and crispy, but not terribly high on either trait. No ketchup or additional sauce condiments to be seen on any of the tables or self-serve spots so mine felt like they needed some dip with it. Milkshake was also satisfactory. Hits the right spot, but runs rather sweet without as much creaminess...so definitely a bit of "get what you pay for". Choco-sauce was abundant but tasted mostly of sugar so it was a bit one-note tasting despite a nice aesthetic. Overall, anybody would be a happy customer with their core offering so hard to complain about their burgers! Sides and additional stuff might be hit or miss though. read more

The cheese burger was cooked well. It is a super thin patty. They offer free refill on soda. The campus fries were good. The cheese burger and grilled onion were well cooked. There was lots of sauce (ketchup and mayo mix) to make up for the lack of quality fries. The fries don't come salted and are not consistently fried. I suspect they twice fry them. Some of the fries were fried to no end I almost choked trying to swallow it and some were fried ok. If I was in the area again, I'd order the burger and skip the fries. Cute spot with simple menu. We got a classic cheeseburger, jalapeño cheeseburger, campus fries and regular fries. We also wanted to try a milkshake but their machine was down (OK Mickey D's!!!!). Overall, the food is just okay. The jalapeño burger was my favorite as it was hot (like, freshly grilled?) and had a little more flavor than the regular burger, which was lukewarm. We also added ketchup to our burgers, which made them taste a little better. Honestly, to get a fulfilling, flavorful meal, you'd have to get a double or maybe even a triple, jalapeño style, which then adds costs, so it eventually comes out to be the cost of a burger from any other burger joint. Initially, the starting price of each item reels you in, but after all is said and done, a meal for two will end up costing the same as somewhere like in-n-out. If you're a simple, plain eater, this could be the place for you, but it wasn't my favorite. This location is larger, has a small parking lot, and has ample seating inside and outside (at least compared to their downtown location). I love the set up of this place, it's so raw ( plain) and active with like an old school modern vibe. Pretty much like a in and out of the past. I love how you can see the cooks cooking the burgers, the onions / boxes supplies to the side, adds to the fresh clean vibe. There's some stools to sit at while you wait for your burgers after ordering at the counter. The employees were all super nice, and the my order was out fast! Limited indoor area to eat inside, but there are picnic tables outside of Campus to sit at. I got a double cheese burger large fry 1 and 2 #2 cheeseburger literally cannot stop thinking about it as I write this it's smelling good in the car. The burger looked beyond amazing, I love how melty the cheese is and onions each bite with the soft bun, PERFECTION! The fries were thin and perfectly salted and crisped!! The dip that comes with them was really good as well. The fries came in a cup and it's such a large portion! Could easily share with others. Still, if I were a college student, I would've loved having this place nearby for a quick, cheap meal.
