Such a gem in an unsuspecting area. To be honest the vibe of Candor is a bit off from its surroundings but once you're there it's so cute!! I'm from around here but moved to LA about two years ago and this spot felt like a piece of LA placed in the middle of Renton lol. I love how trendy and cute the interior is. Unfortunately, the prices are just like Los Angeles (about 7 dollars for my latte). Though it's a bit pricey, I think that the vibe along with the wonderful customer service and genuinely GREAT coffee, make this place worth it. Wow!! I noticed this coffee shop popped up in my Yelp last week and drove past it on Sunday. So glad I finally stopped by to check it out. The place is huge. Ample room to grab a drink, eat, study, or do whatever you wanna do in a coffee shop. (Of course after we're able to do indoor dining again) They started putting up Holiday decor, absolutely cute! The menu is simple and they currently have seasonal flavors as well. Because I already drank coffee earlier in the day, I was recommended to try the pear & ginger soda. Let me just say, it was bomb! You get slight sweetness from the pear and slight spice from the ginger. It's the perfect combo in my opinion. I also grabbed the chocolate croissant. It's a pretty huge croissant. Airy, flakey, buttery, and just the right amount of chocolate. I'll definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. read more

A bit surprised that I haven't posted a review for this coffee shop yet - it's my absolute "go to" in the south end. I love their coffee (sometimes it could be hotter, but I just ask) - the roast is well balanced and the flavors are always very delicious. I don't drink lavender coffee in a lot of places because they over-perfume, but this shop had it done well. Their pastries are super delicious too. There's plenty of seating - comfortable mix of soft (crate) seating, tables, and a bar area. The ambiance is light, well-lit with clean colors. The bathrooms are always clean too. I would say it's been a few years since this spot opened (or better said remodeled after another coffee shop that was there).... And they could use a nice deep cleaning, but really - that's my OCD kicking in. Folks tend to sit there for a while and work or do homework there. The common customer is young. I came to candor for the first time yesterday and had to come back today. Yesterday I ordered the cold brew and a double shot of espresso on the side. I drink cold brew without milk or sugar, and it was very flavorful and light. The espresso was also amazing, and had very little bitterness and a lot of fruitiness, and floral notes. The service was great, and the inside of the store is very aesthetically pleasing, with a small but good selection of coffee beans to purchase. Cons first because I didn't like my experience- - I had a sixteen ounce 3 shot americano with a splash of cream, all I could taste was the watered down cream. -I had a cheese and jalapeño bagel that was way too sweet tasting for me. I don't appreciate a sweet dough in a savory item. -there was no sleeves available and I refused another cup. The liquid seeped out from the closed lid and was pretty messy and hot. Pros- -Nice atmosphere with a lot of lighting -lots of people were eating and drinking so this place is obviously liked by many -cute outdoor seating for when it's appropriate -they have blazing bagels cream cheese, maybe their other bagels are good. if I do try this place again I will try some sweet latte with extra shots and a sweet pastry. read more

Kept checking in hoping one day their baristas would start wearing masks. Two years into a pandemic you've gotta be pretty arrogant to refuse wearing masks while preparing food and coffee. It's just not that hard. Boon Boona is ten minutes down the road and significantly better coffee anyways, worth the extra drive to support a local business who is supporting and investing in the community. read more

Whether the baristas are masked or not, the coffee is good. However, even after dozens of reviewers noted that the baristas not only don't wear masks (or even pretend to wear masks with their noses sticking out like many do) but they refuse to wear masks, I doubt they are going to change. Getting tired of people putting "my rights" over and against the common good. Ticking time bomb over an outbreak happening and then getting shut down. Shows no respect for customers. Also don't like that customers can grab their own drink lids, which means anyone with dirty hands can touch the mouth part of anyone else's future drink. read more

The aesthetic here is amazing. All the light, light wood, and plants. My heart! I really enjoy the latte's here. I've gotten a seasonal latte before that I really enjoyed and last time I got a latte with their brown sugar syrup. It was so yummy. The cups they have if you eat there keep your drink so warm! Yelp is a public social platform for people to write reviews. If your feelings we're affected by an honest review than you should say so yourself. There was no miscommunication on my part! The cashier was in denial about her mistake and was condescending about it. Instead of excusing herself, she tried to make it seem like I had no idea what I ordered. The barista took the bowl and whisk from the counter, which was on top of the dirty dish bin. After she used it, she put it back near the coffee machine! Such a cute cafe!! Maybe this place is out of King county where there is no mask mandate... but when I offered my vax card to enjoy my coffee and pastry there the staff cut me off n said don't worry about it... only when I sat down while having my first sip of coffee did I realize none of the two young baristas nor staff (doing paperwork at desk) were masked! Tried the matcha colado today and it was DELICIOUS would of never thought that it could pair with a matcha but it works and it's so delicious! Not only that but presentation was so neat and cute. I went in to Candor this afternoon to pick up coffee and noticed me and one other customer were the only people wearing masks. I was shocked by this and asked one of the baristas about it. She said, "Since this is a private business we don't have to wear masks. Also, it's just a mandate not like a law or anything." She did not appear to think that they were doing anything wrong. I've been to Candor in the past and really enjoyed their coffee and the atmosphere but I will not be going back unless they start following state guidelines. I am very disappointed that the owner's are putting their customers and their employees at risk. read more

Pretty much jumping in the same boat as everyone else that left a negative comment about masks and safety. Love the vibe and the overall look and feel of this spot. It has some California beach vibes to it. My Americano was tasty and I requested it to be served in a dine-in mug. But the fact that there is no mask enforcement and none of the employees are wearing any got me feeling very uncomfortable. I won't be returning anytime soon. Unfortunately its too soon to for establishments like these to be not enforcing state mandated requirements. I've heard about this place many times because friends would come to study and I finally caved in to visit. They have a cozy and chill environment which is perfect for studying. There's many chairs available as well as outdoor seating for the spring/summer. It does feel a bit cramped sometimes when you walk in with all the seats, but waiting at the front isn't too bad. Their coffee is pretty decent and the service was good for every time that I've visited. Will visit again for the atmosphere and coffee! read more

Happy to give this place my money for standing up against medical tyranny and in favor of personal liberty. If you would feel more comfortable if the baristas wore sequined masks that have proven completely ineffective in reducing transmission (as I've seen many baristas do at other coffee shops), then you are missing the point and can just go somewhere else. I came for the friendly un-masked faces and stayed for the delicious coffee and great atmosphere. I love that they use crushed ice and had sparkling water on tap. The mocha I ordered was good, and it seemed like the cup they used was a thick compostable(?) material - it felt almost like a real cup and was not hot to touch at all. Their espresso menu has regular options and a few seasonal/rotating drinks too. Surprisingly, their wifi was extremely fast. Candor Coffee is a bright spot that contrasts the unassuming complex in which it sits. The open space has lots of natural light and a variety of seating options for students, professionals, and loungers. Lots of plug ins across the walls and there is an outdoor seating area as well. It's a tasteful, well-thought space. Pastries and coffee were okay. Got an almond croissant which is a classic for me which didn't stand out in particular and a shaken espresso which is on their special menu which was standard. The two items totaled to about $12. My friend had an oat milk latte and the espresso to milk ratio was off with the oat milk overpowering. Shaken espresso is the way to go for a stronger coffee flavor. I hate to write anything outrightly negative, but as I was enjoying my coffee a large bug had crawled into my sandal and I had to get rid of it. Honestly, bugs on the ground crawling in and out of a cafe with the door opening and closing is possible and normal but it was very much off putting because I never had that experience happen to me in a coffee shop. It bothered me, but I'll just wear sneakers next time I go because I find the space to be beautiful and would like to just work on stuff there. More than the coffee I was drawn to the space. I wish their coffee was as memorable as the design of the space but sometimes you really are paying for the interior/mood over the taste of the product. read more
