About a couple weeks after my visit. She sanded my nail down still it was pretty much transparent

I haven't been to this salon since I was in high school. Back then it was just for a pedicure so I did give it a better rating. I recently was in town and the nail salon I normally go to was closed for remodeling but the gel nail extensions I had reallllllyyyyy needed to come off. I figured I'd just come here because I'm sure they'd know what to do right? Wrong. I was the first customer that morning and I asked if they could take off my gel extension. The lady inspected my nails and asked me- 'gel?' I said, 'yes, gel extension- can you take them off?' She replied, 'honey those are just acrylics.' As I type this- I'm letting off a huge sigh because that was my first red flag since they were not your typical acrylics. Anyway, she sat me down and immediately started sanding away at the red gel- red gel dust was flying all over the place. She got finally got to the plastic tip and started inspecting my nails again. She asked me if I wanted to paint them and I said no but maybe a clear coat would be fine. She said okay- this will cost $15. I agreed to it and she started shaping my nails. I wasn't sure why she was shaping them because the plastic was still on there. Finally, she said- 'You come back next week. Your nails are too thin. It'll break if I take this off." Woaaah there. I told her that I didn't have the time to do that and to please take them off today. She started tutting and literally picking at the plastic that was GLUED ON. She then asked me, 'What is this?' I was so upset but stayed calm and told her, 'They're the plastic from the gel extension. The last time I took this off- they just did a wrap and then scraped it off.' Her friend got her a bowl of acetone and she began to soak my nails. I felt a little relieved until she took her drill out and started to use the drill to remove the soft polish. At one point she was sanding away for so long that my nail beg got hot and I had to ask her to stop because it hurt. At one point she began asking me where I got it and berating me for getting this done. 'This is very bad for your nails.' 'Your nails are very weak because of this.' 'You should never let her (that last manicurist I went to) do this to you again.' Really? On top of that, she told me she now needed to charge me $20 because it was 'very hard' to do this job. I won't be coming back here I'm afraid. TLDR; Had gel extensions and wanted to remove it, I was told they knew how- they didn't. She damaged my nails and some of them are transparent from her sanding away for too long. Don't bother coming here, there are plenty of other affordable places that know what they're doing.

First let me say I didn't get the lady who did my gel mani and pedi's name but she did a good job. But to the manager/owner she did such an awful job on my nieces full set(see pictures) the first thing I told her was these are awful and showing her all the nails that were messed up she kept shaking her head "no no they're fine it's because she bites her nails that's why" so I said because she bites her nails you cant apply acrylic nails correctly? Mind you we have never had problems at any other nail salon because she "bites her nails". so she proceeded to tell me "no no $41" there was a customer standing there listening in and I showed her the nails and she even said to the manager lady "what happened why are they like this?!" And the manager lady literally yanked her hand away from my nieces hand and told her "don't touch!!" And proceeded to say "I've been doing nails many many years! $41!" If you take pride in your work(since you said you've been doing nails for years) and appreciate your customers enough she could have owned up to it and just easily said hey your unsatisfued? come back another day and I will fix it. Instead of argue with me that they are fine.

Went here for a set of nails and a pedicure and they were very professional and made sure what I wanted was executed. Very clean and welcoming place don't sleep on them.

If I could I will give this salon no star. About a week ago I needed a pedi fixed so I came across this salon. At first I was kinda skeptical, but hey! You pay what you get. I have noticed there's mold against spa chair wall. And not only that! I've seen a few manicurists reused filers and buffers! I was disgusted and on top of that there's cut toe nails from the pervious customer floating in my water. I do not recommend this salon. Sorry to say.

Love this place for nails but never get your hair done here Kenzi ruined my hair came in for my roots to be touched up and walked out with a completely different look and I even had bangs without even getting a hair cut meaning my hair was damaged and was breaking this is not a hair salon. When I asked Kenzi for a refund she said no refund I spent too much time on your hair.

The ladies I had sucked. I wanted a red bow on my ring finger in memory of my cousin who recently passed away, she kept trying to draw the bow and kept erasing it because she couldn't draw it. She obviously didn't go to school for this. So then when I told her to forget about it she blames me and says my nails are "too small." All the other workers around watching her didn't offer to draw it either. The lady doing my pedicure cut the length of my toenails all crooked. I deserve a refund and I will never come back to this place again, I will also let all my friends know that this place is THE WORST.

I get it, it's prom season and you guys are busy, but really!? This looks so awful! You can tell this was rushed..

For about a year I went there to Kenzy to get my hair needs taken care of. Shame on me!! Color was never consistent. No record of colors used. Ended up with fried bands of color. Final straw was when Kenzy informed me " It doesn't matter what I do to your hair. I know that you always come back to me." That was my wake up call. Went to Palmdale Ulta. Never returned to Kenzy and have never been happier.

I've been going here since I was in jr. High and of course it all depends on who you go with that makes the difference but carol and Sandy are amazing. They always take care of whoever they are working on. When I go in and ask for something I find on pintrest they make it happen! And prices are resonable. I However do not like the change of ownership because they are no longer on the temple city rams card (which not only supported the school also provided a 10% discount). I just hope that changes next year

My friend got her acrylics taken off here after only a week of having them on because they did a poor job. When she came to get them taken off instead of soaking the acrylics in acetone THEN removing them the lady just tore them off. My friend was flinching the whole time making it obvious it was painful but the lady obviously didn't care. She then took only one acrylic off and was going to let me friend leave with 2 missing nails. Not to mention the color selection and place is dingy. Hailey nails in Monrovia is the best!!

This nail salon deserves no stars! My daughter showed her a picture of what she wanted and she said she could do it charged her 35 dollars for nails that looked nothing like the picture. I wasnt trying to get my money back but at least a discount for messing het nails up right before her Quinceneara. I told her i would give her 27 dollars but she wasnt willing to give me some money back without takung her nails off. Do not go to them if you want something done right go to nails and facial! They are great!

These 5-stars are for NANCY only. I've been a customer of hers since 2007. She does an excellent job in waxing and facials...and the prices for wax is cheap! If you ever need to get some hair removal done, please go look for Nancy! :) read more

$15 for Spa pedicure, OPI /china glaze colors for sale only. Limited colors to choose from but nice staff. Two stars only because of the limited/cheap color selection and the fact that after I was done with the pedicure, my friends asked if I did it myself because the lady colored out of my nails. I could have gotten a pedicure for the same price at a better salon with better colors. This place is also a beauty supply shop and hair salon. read more

Been coming here for my pedicures with my mom since my teens. All the ladies are super nice and do a great job. Even on a crowded day I don't recall having to wait too long and I've never walked out with a bad experience. My pedicures last a pretty long time, too. More recently we started bringing my grandma with us because she kept messing up her own nails and is very sensitive and the ladies are always very gentle with her and work a little bit more carefully to make sure she is comfortable while they give her a pedicure. It's nice to be around people who care. read more

Candy Nails used to be 4 stars or more for the service, quality, and price, but I haven't been back in a few years (busy schedule) and came back again yesterday. As other reviewers have mentioned, they are under new management now for about a year so some of the nail techs are gone, some new, and some old stuck around. I've been coming to Candy Nails for years - and brought my bridal party here five years ago. My family and extended family have been coming here for over 25 years (before they moved, when they were across the street). This review is based on my most recent experience. My manicurist seemed green or unsure what she was doing. She also cut my cuticles too much -- it kinda hurt. I had to tell her to stop and not to cut too much. The pedicurist was okay. The thing is, both left me before they started painting! I think who seemed like the new owner took over to finish both my mani and pedi and she spent the time trying to sell me. She was very friendly, called me "honey" (and everyone else), complimented me, thanked me for coming, and tried to sell me on her hair services since she is a hair stylist. Her nail skills were not up to par and she was unsuccessful at providing adequate coverage or staying in my nail. She kept wiping off excess with her own nail - rather painfully. I know I could do a better job painting. When I get my nails done it's mostly for the trimming, filing, cleaning parts. Getting my pedicure was kind of uncomfortable for some reason. My go to's are Mary and Nancy. They are veterans. Stick with the veterans. I never gert acrylic, rarely get nail art, and stick with just paint, either w/ my own color or french tips. I can't remember if prices went up or not, but my mani/pedi was $21. I'm sure my mom will tell me all about it tonight - she visited a couple of weeks ago (the nail techs told me - they know me and my family as soon as I walk in). They used to provide fans for drying the hands and toes. They used to help me get out with my hair and purse. They also used to get me my shoes ready for me. They used to BE more attentive and try to sell you a lot less. I will most like still come here, but will only go to the veterans. My mom knows how it's done - call in advance and request your gal. read more

I went today, and a new girl (didn't get her name) did a good job on my spa pedi. I have been going here for years and have usually been happy with the pedicures I get, but I am sad that my favorite person, Lily, has left. They have been under new ownership for the past year or so and it just isn't the same. Does anyone know where she has moved to? Please let me know! Thank You! read more

Love Candy nails. I have been coming here since I was little with my mom. I moved away for work and hadn't been back in a while. But was so excited I was in town for Christmas and one of my gifts was a mani/pedi to Candy Nails. And I still love this place! My pedi turned out wonderful. I did the gel manicure with a fun sparkly design for New Years, that turned out great too. And got a little waxing done by Nancy. The ladies are always extremely nice. I always feel at home here. They are so attentive and helpful. Nancy is the best in the business for waxing, she does an amazing job. True talent. Can't wait to be back in town again and visit. Thanks ladies. I went to Candy Nails for 22 years but it is an end of the era. All the great nail techs are gone, the new owner is not friendly to the customers, the sink is always backed up and gross to wash your hands, the floors are filthy and when I pointed it out to the new owner she blamed it on people walking in with their shoes on. The next time I went the same black filthy marks were still on the floor. Sad but I guess all good things must end :( read more

Candy nails has some wonderful manicurists... Wendy, Sandy, Carol for example. However , it is not clean. It is not up to date. The owner walks around very intimidating and not friendly. The tension between her and her employers is evident . Instead of the owner walking around with her nose in the air , I suggest her time could be better spent . Mopping the floor, cleaning , etc. if not for my great manicurist Id never go to Candy Nails! read more

Very rude to their customers, they will only pay attention to you if you are going to pay them more than the rest of the customers. They don't even deserve this star. I asked for a simple manicure and they did a crappy job cleaning around my cuticles as well as cleaning the remaining nail polish around my finger. My friend asked for a certain design and they did the complete opposite of what she asked them. That's other than the fact that they are constantly speaking to each other in a foreign language which is really uncomfortable. It was a terrible experience over all. I strongly suggest Pearl Nails or any other place on Las Tunas Blvd. read more

This nail place is great with nails. They have a varied selection of nail polish, and also specializes with haircuts. I paid a total of $15 for a manicure, and my mother had paid $16 for a pedicure. The tools seem to be clean, and the prices are not expensive at all. If you're in need of a cute mani/pedi this place should be great. I recommend calling before coming in. read more

This is my all time favorite nail salon!!! I am always greeted without the fake "hello"s and I have been to a dozen places. No other compares! I recommend Linda(the salon owner) for a manicure and definitely Wendy for a pedicure. Right on the corner of Las Tunas Dr. & Temple City Blvd. Can't miss it! Also I like the convenient parking in the back of the salon. I have not used there other services but after a long consultation with Linda. She said she can do a better work on my eyebrows than at the Anastasia makeup counter at Nordstrom(world renown for eyebrow shaping) where I just had my eyebrows waxed before I came, in that day. And she offered to cut my hair which is another reason I want to come back. I cannot wait because I have been looking for a hair stylist since I am always looking for someone whom is good with cutting bangs. I feel it takes a very experienced hair stylist to know how to cut the perfect bangs. Therefore I will give you an update soon!!! Otherwise I give this salon a !!! read more

If you're looking for someone to do an amazing job with your eyebrows go to Linda. She is the owner and seriously, I wouldn't go any other place to get my eyebrows done. I was always so scared to go anywhere before I found her. My eyebrows were always uneven or not the shape I wanted them. Linda takes her time and I swear she cleans my eyebrows up so well (she won't ever leave any hair where you don't want it) she's super sweet and I recommend anyone who doesn't have a set person to do their eyebrows to try her. She will amaze you. Kenzie has been doing my moms hair for years! And she loves her. From highlights to haircut. She's great! also I always get a pedicure with Mary. She's the sweetest! And takes her time. She's amazing at letting you relax and pamper yourself. She will always have a smile on her face read more

The pricing is reasonable, the quality is great, and they use real Aprés Gel-X, so my nails actually last and don't break. I've been to other places that say they use Gel-X, but it's definitely not the same. I also brought my mom here when she was nervous about getting her nails done, and they made her feel really comfortable, which I appreciated. I always get compliments on my nails and people ask where I get them done -- highly recommend, especially Tina!

When I explained that I had just called about a walk-in manicure, she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about. She then started asking "One manicure? Two? What do you want?" in an almost interrogating tone instead of simply greeting us or telling us to have a seat and pick colors like they used to. The whole interaction felt awkward, dismissive, and honestly uncomfortable. Customer service and basic courtesy matter. We ended up leaving because I'm not giving my business to a place that treats customers that way. Really disappointing experience. If only I could give this place a zero, I would.

Eight days after that $180 set, one nail completely fell off with no pain. Anna said she didn't know why it happened, booked me three days later to fix it, and charged me $20. Four days after the repair (about two weeks after the original set), 9 out of 10 nails were lifting from the sides. Again, Anna said she didn't know why and initially told me to come back in three days. I explained I was concerned about moisture and possible fungus, and suddenly she had availability the same day. That was frustrating. When I arrived, Anna didn't examine my nails or apologize. Another tech removed and reapplied a new set, and I was charged $80. Within two weeks, I had spent $280 total. I was only given a $20 gift card. Eleven days later, my thumb nail fell off again. When I reached out, Anna once more said she didn't know why. After spending hundreds of dollars here, I'm very disappointed with how this was handled. The customer service was poor, and I would not recommend this salon.

I actually drove from South Bay to San Gabriel (LOL) because I was really enamored and respected her artistry. I loved the little salon and how professional Lannie is. She's been in the industry for well over two decades and it clearly shows. I appreciated her patience with me as I'm new to getting nails done. The single one star review is actually from a temp employee that is no longer with Lannie! Her prices are on par with most salons. If I remember correctly, it's $40 for single color gel, and then $2-3 per nail for art, $2 per nail for gold flaking. Obviously it really depends on the designs you want but expect about $75 on average, and don't forget to tip either. If you're not sure, she responds pretty quickly to estimated costs. The gel manicure lasted me about 2 weeks, and I ended up taking mine off at home but didn't do it correctly so my nails are pretty bad and will probably take a few more weeks or months to get back to what they were like before. I'd just get it taken off for $10 or so at a reputable salon next time I get gel. I'd love to come as a regular but the salon itself is too far away for me to be comfortable to make that time commitment (2 hour roundtrip + 2 hour appointment) every two weeks. So for now, I think I'll probably try to stop by when I have a day off or for special occasions. Lannie's really busy, expect to need to book an appointment 2-3 weeks out.

I almost don't want to share bc she's already as booked as it is, but's she's so awesome it'd be a shame if not more people know about her & her work. If you're looking for a Saturday, call 3-4 weeks in advance. There may be cancellations but I wouldn't count on it. Weekdays are a little better, esp. during fall/winter, however, still call as early as you can just to be sure. Looking forward to many more fun nails appointments.

Went to Nail Candy to have my hair done right by Linda, her work is off the hook and done very professional and she takes care of my hair and uses the best products to make my hair look and feel it's best. Price is reasonable and she always give out coupons worth very great. Linda has been my hairdresser for over 15 yrs. Over the years my hair color and cut always looked great whether it's five or seven weeks between appointments. Linda uses color products that has kept my hair healthy and shiny. She spends a lot of time with my high and low lights to ensure that my color looks natural and subtle as it grows out.
