I finally got the chance to enjoy a quick lunch at Cane de Sucre and found myself impressed. First, know this place does a booming workweek lunch business. Luckily for us first-timers, we arrived before the midday rush. I was immediately drawn to the $12 tuna steak sandwich and eventually ordered it as a salad for a few dollars less instead. Make that two plus a perrier for a measly $21+$5 tip = downtown lunch time win!!! I was very pleased with the polished service, which kept the casual feel of the establishment while ensuring knowledgeable professionalism. The dining area is fairly large but packed and you can tell they do an impressive takeout and catering business. The menu is the perfect size with interesting and accessible selections. I had been going here for lunch since it opened and had always found it to be a good place with consistent quality and quick. French baguettes warm, crispy and good food for the price. I went back a month or so ago and found that the size of the sandwich I ordered had shrunk, the baguette was cold and the chicken inside greatly reduced. I figured it was probably fluke. I went back today and order tuna on a baguette. The baguette was barely warm and not crispy inside was a smitten of tuna, had a lot of hard boiled egg and tomatoes. This restaurant I assume is trying to cut costs by reducing the quality and quantity of the food served. It's a shame, it used to be real good but not anymore. This is one of my favorite places in Downtown Miami for lunch. I've tried several of their hot baguette sandwiches and soups and they never disappoint. My favorites are Le Pollo and El Cubano (warning: it's not your typical cuban sandwich, but it is a very tasty twist of one). I usually get the lunch special which includes a half sandwich and full size soup. All the soups I've tried are creamy and delicious. I also rank their burgers among the best in Downtown Miami (now that Filling Station is gone). I especially like El Español which combines organic Harris Ranch beef and imported Chorizo to make one heck of a tasty patty. It's topped with whipped goat cheese, roasted garlic, and roasted red pepper-oregano chutney. It all combines for an explosion of flavor in your mouth you soon won't forget. read more

My coworker suggested this place for the $6.50 soup and sandwich special. We walked over and the place was packed. As you walk in, you are in line, so don't move or you will lose your spot (we did). The soup of the day is listed on a chalkboard to the right (Today (9/16/14) it was cream of spinach). To our surprise the $6.50 lunch combo was now $7.50. We ordered, were handed a number and then waited off to the side. The wait time was around 5 minutes, which was not to bad considering how busy they were. This is right next to the courthouse so majority of the clientele are "suit and tie". I felt a bit odd in my tattered jeans and T-shirt. The cream of spinach, which has cheese chunks, was divine. The club was also good. I would have wished for a tad bit more bacon, but alas. While waiting, I noticed people who dined in got sides of baguette with their soup as well as a small salad with their sandwich. I did not get either with my take out order. Nice place, decent prices and good food. Next time I will dine in. read more

Used to be good but has gone way down hill. Hot sandwiches are cold inside, bacon on the breakfast sandwiches taste rancid (on more than one occasion) and customer service borders on rude. Wasn't like this a few years ago but now when I very occasionally visit I'm reminded why I don't go back regularly. Clearly far from as busy as it once was. I grab take out from here about once a week. I've tried most of their sandwiches and their salads. All of their sandwiches are tasty and their salads are generous. The staff has gotten to know my name so once I walk in to pick up my food, they see me and make the transaction super quick and pleasant. Cane A Sucre is an absolute gem in downtown in Miami! Great customer service and great food make this an excellent spot for lunch. Located just a stone's throw away from the County Courthouse, Cane A Sucre offers a delicious lunch menu for a very, very reasonable price. I came here on a Monday afternoon. I just happened to stumble upon this place when I was walking around looking for somewhere to have lunch. The restaurant itself doesn't stand out much from the outside, but the inside is very inviting and beautifully decorated. Everything from the floors, to the artwork, to the furniture, to the dishware give the decor a super trendy feel. Now, for the food. The soup of the day was roasted tomato with pesto which sounded delicious; so I ordered that along with the half of a club sandwich and a diet coke. I expected to receive a small bowl of soup like when you order the "You Pick Two" soup and half sandwich from Panera Bread. Much to my surprise, the waitress brought me a full sized bowl of the roasted tomato with pesto soup... and I'm so glad she did because it was the best tomato soup that I've ever had. It was creamy, but light; filled with flavor, but tame. The pesto not only added a unique flavor, but a nice design to the elegantly presented dish. The club sandwich was excellent as well. It was served warm with the bread perfectly toasted and the bacon the absolute right amount of crispiness (and this coming from the only person on earth that's not a huge fan of bacon). All of the ingredients were fresh and the meal left me with such a happy feeling in my tummy. All of this great tasting food for only $10 too. Not bad at all. I'm not a huge fan of the downtown Miami area because it is so congested, but I would most definitely, without a doubt go out of my way to eat here again. I would suggest that you do too. read more

I'm a big fan of their North Miami location. I haven't been to in in about 2 years since i live in Downtown Miami. Their Downtown Miami location has bad hours, so I've never made it intime. I finally made it today and was pretty disappointed. I ask the cashier which vegetarian "options" she recommends as their best. I had to explain what I meant by "option" and ultimately I think she did not understand me. I asked for the sauce on the side. For some reason she didn't seem to understand what that meant either? Went to this place because it was close and the reviews were good. It was a huge disappointment. The chicken was dry and over cooked. They brought me more chicken for my salad, but it was the same. They didn't bring my water and latte until almost the end of my meal. The latte had milk spilled on the side of the cup when they brought it to me; no one had bothered to wipe it. I don't know what's changed lately but I ordered a side of potatoes, a side of bacon and Orange juice. Didn't take long to come out like the other day only problem was the potatoes were hard when they are supposed to be soft I was able to break some in half as if it was a chip. Already annoyed I left the potatoes with no refund because I didn't feel like waiting took the bacon and juice back to work . The juice was fine but the bacon was cold and hard . Cane A Sucre is a mess, especially when the owner is there. She is extremely rude. I watched her yell at a customer after she placed his order wrong. Apparently, she placed quite a few orders wrong because she apologized to a few customers but this gentleman she decided to not acknowledge him and then we he simply asked how much longer for his food( which she messed up)she asked him to wait and he can just leave if he doesn't like it. He asked for his money back and she told him that she was done. She wasn't dealing with him. I was floored. I've never witnessed this in any restaurant and I've seen restaurants have hectic moments several times. I will never return to her restaurant because I can never support someone who treat people, especially their customers that way. read more

My co-workers and I requested a refund and owner was belligerent and refused to acknowledge the issue. Staff tried to apologize, but the owner stated she did not need the money. We were so shock. Great lunch place right across the street from the courthouse. The burger with chorizo and goat cheese is awesome, ask for a side of fresh pesto with it. The best value is the sandwich and soup combo, the soups are really good. For the healthy eater, one of their salads is about the best you can do in the neighborhood.
